Hello Bukella, Honestly i am guilty of this as Canada (Toronto) is not what many made me think it is. I am a seneca student doing my secong PGD program. I came in January 2018 and Toronto has its ups and downs....but i thing you should prepare for is the cost
Do not come here thinking your part-time job (if you find one) can offset your school fees and living costs. on average rent here is about $800...with the lowest ive heard of being $500.
My school is good, but i promise you, the amount of work required (its not hard, its just plenty research and work).....and please...do not even think of plagiarism ( more on that later)
Ive promised to come online at least once weekly to help those that need information, because information is the most important thing here (well, after networking). Please try to ask any particular questions you may have
on here btw, i hardly respond to emails yes i can relate, i am currently in niagara. since you hardly respond to mails, could you send a personal message so we could connect. do you mind? |

Hi nairalanders... My first application was on April 17th and was through an agent in Lagos. After my first application, I joined nairaland and discovered the packaging was poor. Went through some threads and was enlightened on how to tackle common reasons for refusals. Decided to re- apply by myself. Reapplied in June at vfs Abuja, I live in Lagos tho. Program: PGD Course : RN- critical care nursing , Niagara college Was skeptical about reapplying because it's a PGD. After I got my refusal, I didn't bother to order for notes cause I felt I couldn't wait for so long before reapplying.
I used the ideas from this thread and previous ones and The difference in my second from first application were: A well detailed, real and sincere SOP, made sure I proved I am taking a step of academic progression, made sure I explained why I want the course, how I will survive with funding, my intentions to return to manage my mother's business. My personal bank statement showing my savings and a deposit of 10k dollars equivalent transferred to my account. Pay slips - was payed monthly by a relative. Letter of introduction - I graduated last year and was working voluntarily as a nurse for 6 months. Sponsorship letter explaining how the funds have been allocated for my education and survival. Also explains how my sponsor will survive while I am away. Letter or clarification Reference letter from bank Sponsor bank statement Sponsorship letter Land document or sponsor Ielts result Bsc certificate transcript Offer letter Receipt of 1st term fees payment. Needed to prove I am a real student.
Prayers and total trust in God's timing
I pray for more trv approvals in Jesus name. Congrats in advance to the trv hopefuls. 16 Likes 2 Shares |

You are absolutely right, it is vague. Much will depend on how you repackage your application, especially your Sop. Sometimes faced with so many applications and little time to make a decisions, the VOs have generic already prepared statements like this on their computers that just begin to draw from and slap on applicants. If I tell you how many GCMS notes of people I have read with almost the same wordings as yours, you will be amazed. The crux of the matter from what I can tell from the GCMS, is convincing the VO that you will return to Nigeria. Don't do the mistake many applicants make when reapplying, making similar statements like they did before in the previous application. If you have been refused before, when reapplying, your SOP should be a rebuttal of the statements that the VO outlined as reasons for refusal of previous application . After you have done that foremost, then you can go ahead and tackle other things that the Vo didn't mention. Leave no stone untouched.
You can show the VO your bonafides as genuine student by emphasizing your academic strength on your transcript and pointing to other places in the record that compels the belief that you will attend school and not merely using a student permit as a way of facilitating entry to Canada.
You can show that you will return to Nigeria by presenting strong family ties. It is not enough to submit a marriage certificate and birth certificate of your children. You must talk about the close knit and loving family you have and how going to Canada would be hard on the family. Anyone can have a family, but it takes a person of character to take family seriously.
You can also show other ties that bind you to your home. Property and investment and job prospects. Take an extra step if you have property, to follow through with the valuation of the land by a registered quantity surveyor, including a detailed plan of the property. Don't just present the property documents. Talk about how you stand to be a beneficiary of the property or investment if its not in your name. Include pay slips and show that your job prospects back to Nigeria are great by what you would study if you don't have a job yet.
Give details of your planned program and how it would translate back to Nigeria on return. Talk about why you decided to study abroad and not Nigeria. Reasons like a foreign education is highly respected in Nigeria in themselves, hardly pass. Show how such respect for a foreign degree in Nigeria applies personally to you and what you intend to do for Nigeria.
Admitting weakness or showing remorse is very powerful in a SOP. It makes you credible before a VO.
Keep everything concise, straight and to the point. Don't start giving away answers or voluntarily revealing information that was never asked from you. Your evidence assembled should do a majority of the talking for you. Good luck reapplying again. One denial is never fatal to an application if the right steps are followed in tackling previous refusal.
My five cents.
Deep...I greet you oh 3 Likes 1 Share |

I think in your sop you should emphasize more on the benefits you will get in studying it in Canada than Philippine may be because of their standardized learning system is more better than Philippine but don't talk about Philippine not allowing foreigners to write license exams because the VO with think your main aim in wanting to study in Canada Is just to be licensed and start practicing in canada therefore not returning to your home country after your studies Exactly and she should make sure she has strong home ties |

Bro, study plan or statement of purpose is where the problem is. Writing it in a way that will convince the VO is not easy. Check most of the rejections on this thread. So i am thinking maybe using an agent might help You know what you want for yourself. An agent doesn't understand how much you want a study permit. They can't understand the depth of your desires and passion. Neither do they understand what part of the shoe hurts most. You don't need so big grammar to write a convincing Sop. You need to express your thoughts plainly and ensure the most important points are Stated. You can use samples of other people's sop here.. Check page 0 , Just to give an idea of what it is about. Also there are people here who could help review your sop before submitting. My little cent tho It will end in praise. 1 Like |

Dolzz: Hello All,
Been a silent reader here. Although I discovered this thread after I submitted my TRV application, I have learnt so much from the visa application process from you all.
My TRV got approved yesterday, July 4.
My timeline is below: Date of Submission (Online): May 16, 2018 Upfront medicals Medicals passed: June 11 Approval and passport request: July 4
Documents submitted:
1. CIC forms 2. 5 page SOP 3. Personal Statement of Account with NGN2.8 (1.5m was transferred to me by my mum through a Deed of Gift) 4. Scholarship letter covering my tuition issued by UBC 5. Letter of sponsorship from my mum 6. Mum's account statement 7. UBC admission letter 8. Waec, Nysc certificates and IELTS result 9. Copies of awards I have won in my field 10. Wishing all TRV hopefuls the very best.
