Benjamin Fakunle, the recently retired Finance Director at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has been arrested and detained by the Department of State Service (DSS). 

Reports suggest that Fakunle's arrest is related to the investigation into the seven-year audited accounts of the CBN, which are being accused of not complying with accounting and reporting guidelines.

The Secret Service reportedly apprehended Fakunle at his retirement party in Abuja on Wednesday, and he has been in custody ever since.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has given his approval for Prince Olawale Oyebola to ascend to the throne as the new Aseyin of Iseyin. 

This appointment follows the passing of the previous Aseyin, Oba Abdul-Ganiyu Salawudeen, on July 24, 2022.

The announcement, made through the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, is in line with the state's Chiefs’ Law.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has recently made shocking allegations against the Nigerian federal government, claiming that over 20,000 Igbo people have either been killed or declared missing since 2013. 

IPOB, a pro-Biafra group, accused the government of pursuing ethnic hatred against the Igbo through arbitrary arrests, extrajudicial killings, and illegal detentions carried out by the police, military, and Department of State Services.

According to IPOB, the federal government has perpetuated a long-standing policy of ethnic hatred against Biafrans both before and after the Nigeria-Biafra war.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has issued a warning stating that 13 states and 50 communities, primarily located in the northern region, are likely to experience heavy rainfall, which may lead to flooding between September 13 and 17. 

The announcement was made by Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos Territorial Coordinator of NEMA.

The affected states include Kano, Kebbi, Katsina, Niger, Kwara, Zamfara, Bauchi, Taraba, Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Gombe, and Jigawa.

Lauretta Onochie, the former chairperson of the Niger Delta Development Commission Board, has stirred controversy by calling for the arrest of Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate in the 2023 presidential election. 

Onochie accused Obi of inciting violence through his supporters, known as "Obidients," following his election defeat.

The controversy began when a video of Obi surfaced in which he urged Nigerian youths to challenge the country's leaders on issues of bad governance.

Thaddeus Attah, the House of Representatives member representing Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, has refuted reports claiming that he was sacked by the tribunal. 

Contrary to earlier reports, he clarified that the petition tribunal in Lagos State did not remove him from his position but instead ordered a supplementary election.

The initial reports had suggested that the tribunal had canceled the House of Representatives election for Eti-Osa Federal Constituency and removed the Labour Party candidate, who was declared the winner.

The Tribunal sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State, has nullified the victory of Labour Party (LP) Lawmaker, Thaddeus Attah, as the Representative of the Eti Osa Federal Constituency of Lagos State. 

The court order, issued on Monday, September 11, mandates the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a supplementary election in the 32 polling units of Eti-Osa within 90 days.

In response to this ruling, Nigerian singer turned politician, Olubankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, who contested the election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed optimism by posting on his social media account, "It is possible. Still."

Vice President Kashim Shettima led the inauguration of a significant initiative in Sokoto State on Monday, September 11, as the state government distributed N5.1 billion worth of palliatives and unveiled vehicles valued at N16.8 billion.

In a recent interview on Channels TV, former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, expressed his disapproval of Mr. Peter Obi's rejection of the presidential election tribunal judgment.
