HealthRe: Can Fibroids Be Cured Without Surgery? by bumperCA2: 1:13pm On Apr 08, 2019
bjking:
For the treatment of the fibroid, surgery is the mainstay, however medicines can help. But the medicines are not a cure for the fibroid. If they are causing period problems and if you are getting anaemic, then you will need iron tablets. Your GP may try simple non-hormonal medications to treat heavy period like tranexamic acid, mefenamic acid. Sometimes if they're not very big and not growing within the cavity, hormone releasing coils might help. There are special injections available. These are once-a-month injections. These are quite powerful injections which will stop your ovaries from functioning, but as a side effect, they will cause menopausal symptoms. And because they can have effect on the bones, you will not be able to have the medication for more than 6 months. More recently, there is a fibroid-specific tablet available without the menopausal symptoms, they are known as ulipristal acetate. In the market it is available as Esmya tablet, but it must be used under the specialist treatment with some caution. So, you should seek specialist advice for medical treatment of the fibroid.

However, if you are looking for natural alternatives you can learn more here

HealthRe: My Mother Has Fibroid, I Need Solutions To Stop It Permanently by bumperCA2: 1:06pm On Apr 08, 2019
Pierced:
Hello everyone. Forgive me for this long post.

My mom has been bleeding as a result of fibroid for 2 and half months now. She is suppose to have a sugery and remove the fibroid but the doctors are saying they can't do any sugery until the bleeding stop as it is too risky to perform a surgery on her if she's still bleeding.

4 pints of blood was injected in her as she has lost so much blood, and was getting weaker by the day.

I am scared that the four pints of blood will be wasted again as she's still bleeding heavily.

I need solutions in stoping the bleeding, so the surgery will be done and the bleeding will be stopped. Pls if know anything that can be done so the bleeding can stop, it will be appreciated.

Pls, gynecologist in the house, I urgently need help.

HealthRe: Britney Spears! What The Successful Won't Tell You. by bumperCA2: 1:03pm On Apr 08, 2019
ShamelessandFre:
Do you know that today is World health day?

I would come back to that.

Can you think of anyone that you hold to be successful?

For you, it is either you are like them or you consider yourself not living life at all.

It does not matter what aspect of life that they are successful.

Either in business,

Relationship. Spiritual matters. Career. Or even social activities.

Such that EVERYTHING about that individual sparkles before you,

And you are quite certain that once you become that person (male or female),

You've made it in life.

Gotten any yet?

Can you also picture that person in front of you right now?

With that colour of the hair you adore or the lovely dress you love seeing them on,

Doing that which made you promise that you must be like this individual,

If it is to be counted that you lived a meaningful life.

Yes! It is that serious.

But you know RIGHT NOW that that might only be a dream.

For they either live on the mountains that you think you can not climb up to,

Or,

There are things they would not share that is making it difficult for you to be like them.

Your dream image. Dream life. Dream future.

You've concluded that it is not possible after trying many times,

So you've decided to....

STOP!

There was this guy on Facebook I admired intensely because he represented how I wanted to live SPIRITUALLY,

Every time I spent most of my time reading & looking out for his post so as to know what he knows & do what he does.

It got to that point when I had just 1% battery level & was expecting an important call that time.

I knew checking up on his post would drain my battery & eventually would miss out on the call.

Yet I did. Just to show how much I wanted to change. To become.

Until one day,

He was vulnerable about what I thought he was super & untouchable,

Just as Britney Spears checked into a mental institution recently by herself.

Did I hate him & turn away?

Nope! Rather I came to love him more but understood IMPORTANT truth I am sharing today about the successful.

I have seen this not only in him,

Also in others who are truly successful.

Not those who pretend or fake it oh.

What are those:

You won't know they grew through MISTAKES

You won't know they also have STRUGGLES

You won't know there are NUMEROUS things they have no knowledge of.

You won't know they have also made WRONG choices.

You won't know they do experience FEAR

You won't know that in between their successes, they DOUBTED.

You won't know that they also passed through that PROCESS it appears you are in now.

However,

This was what I observed helped them all through,

They FOCUSED more on GROWTH than perfection.

They knew all those above were part of the growing phase.

What has this made you realize?

That as a person, rather than being TOO hard, give yourself that permission to experience all those above.

Whilst focusing on YOUR GROWTH.

Are you growing?

Even if it is little, it matters.

Today is world health day.

When you take care of your mental state,

You would find out that there might not be need to take drugs or remain in that crushed state.

Oh! Mango is out too.

Eat fruits. Get one for me. Keep growing.

Let me end with this quote by Britney Spears,

"Fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body, spirit."

Remain shameless in order to be free.

Gennygolden:
The Wife of Ondo State Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu -Akeredolu has emphasised the need for adequate breast cancer awareness within Ondo State and beyond. She made this known during the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Ondo State government and Harvard University which held on Friday in Akure.

Describing the MoU which seeks to establish a cancer treatment centre in Ondo State as a welcome development, the First Lady lauded the support of the Oluwarotimi Akeredolu led administration in the fight against breast cancer within the State.

“I am very delighted by the support of Arakunrin in our fight against breast cancer. I appreciate the State government for buying into this vision.” She said.

While noting the economic prospects of the cancer treatment centre to Ondo State, Mrs Akeredolu observed that religious leaders should be involved in the move against breast cancer stressing that this would help to debunk some superstitious beliefs which inhibit breast cancer victims from accessing prompt medical help.

“We need to engage religious leaders in the fight against breast cancer. The people must be taught that breast cancer is not witchcraft. It can be treated if prompt medical assistance is accessed.

“We may not wipe out cancer from the surface of the earth because as humans we fall sick sometimes. But we should be part of every effort that will make it manageable so that people can survive it.”

In his remark, the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, thanked the Harvard team and other allied bodies for their support in the fight against breast cancer. He also restated the unwavering commitment of the State government towards ensuring that the people accessed proper health care.

Also speaking at the event were the Secretary to Ondo State Government, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, the leader of the Harvard team, Prof. Wilfred Ngwa and the Ondo State Health Commissioner, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro who appreciated Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, for prioritizing health-care in his administrative policies and pledged to ensure that the project is finished in good time

Perryjackson:
Below is the picture of someone that needs help urgently, my sister. Her condition has been here for about 3 years and it is getting worse by the day. We have spent so much on her condition and we are completely exhausted.

She is Andima Jackson, from Akwa Ibom State. She is currently on admission in the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.(Female Ward, Endoevinology and Metabolism Unit)

About 3 years ago, she got pregnant (out of wedlock) and during childbirth, there were complications. The placenta was stuck in her after childbirth which led to her medical condition called Asherman Syndrome.

From then on, she has been having all sort of complications and issues. No mentral cycle, her body was drying out, she was becoming darker and darker, feeling cold always, always week etc.

During the first 1 year of her problem, she had undergone operation on 2 occasioins both of which cost more than N150k, taken several drugs prescribed by the doctor. The operation was made to remove the residues of the placenta stucked in her body and did have a temporary relieve as her menstral cycle resumed for some days or a week, each after an operation and then stopped completely.

The operation was done her in Uyo (both of them) where she stayed for close to a year. After the money was exhuasted as a result of high medical bills and cost of drugs, it was decided that something unauthodox, native should be tried and that how she went back to Rivers State where she stayed with her Sister. To simplify the story, she has been on native medications for close to 2 years with little or no improvement.

Recently, as a result of her worsening condition, where she was been unconscious for close to 3 days, she was taken to Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, series of test carried out and it was diagnose she had low blood sugar, convulsion couple with her Asherman Syndrome, were she has not seen her period for the past 3 years, resulting in her system being disorganised and confused.

This is why I had to bring this issue online to seek for financial support for Andima Jackson. because presently we have no money to continue the traetment. however, it has become evident that without good amount of money, we cannot save Andima.

This week, we just succeeded in getting money for another test that cost 27,000 naira. The result is coming out on monday. We do not know what the cost of her treatment will be, if she will be operated, drugs that will be bought etc.

She is also expected to undergo a brain scan, of more than 50k days, which we cannot afford at the moment. Of course, we are still running around, looking for money. At the moment, we have decided to discharge her from the hospital, where the bill was running higher, at least till we can get the scan done and proceed on further treatment.

Please, we seek financial support. Any amount at all will be appreciated. Please help us and God will reward you abundantly in Jesus Name. Amen.

HealthRe: Vagina Overheat : Why Women Must Stop Wearing Tight Cloths - Doctor by bumperCA2: 12:53pm On Apr 08, 2019
PublicHealthNig:
A Clinical Microbiologist, Dr Tony Mbume, has advised women to stop wearing tight jeans, synthetic panties and leggings, to prevent vaginal infections.

According to him, most Nigerian females wear these synthetic pants, leggings and tight jeans in the name of fashion, without considering the health implications. Mbume, who works with CIAGIN Medical Laboratory, Oke-Afa, Isolo, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that synthetic wears caused the vagina to ‘overheat’, which could disrupt its ecosystem.

He said that under wears made of latex, nylon or polyester and synthetic materials could trap moisture and warmth, making the vagina vulnerable to different types of infection “Synthetic panties can cause the vagina area to overheat and this can sometimes cause burning sores, itching or irritate the sensitive skin, as well as causing blisters.

“The friction caused by walking in tight pants and jeans can irritate the skin, resulting in the formation of blisters,’’ he said.

Mbume said that the vaginal burning and itching was usually accompanied by discharge and bad odour.

He further said that such infections could be dangerous if left untreated, as it might lead to infertility due to damage of the reproductive organs.

The microbiologist, however, recommended cotton underwear, to ventilate the vagina and eliminate infections, adding that wearing cotton underwear helped to keep the vagina free of excessive moisture and allows the area to breathe.

“Use cotton menstrual pads too. Cotton absorbs excess moisture and removes buildup heat from the area. It is the only materials that can become stronger when wet and is easily sterilized after use.

“Avoid sleeping with pants at night, to keep the vagina area dry throughout the night,’’ he said. Read : Top 5 Myths About Vagina Tightening

HealthRe: What Is Hormonal Imbalance? Causes, Effects And Treatment by bumperCA2: 12:44pm On Apr 08, 2019
salesmaraba:
Hormones are chemicals that are produced by glands in the endocrine system. Hormones travel through the bloodstream to the tissues and organs, delivering messages that tell the organs what to do and when to do it.
Hormones are important for regulating most major bodily processes, hormones help to regulate:
• metabolism and appetite
• heart rate
• sleep cycles
• reproductive cycles and sexual function
• general growth and development
• mood and stress levels
• body temperature

Hormonal imbalance is said to occur when these chemicals do not perform their functions very well due to:
chronic or extreme stress
• type 1 and type 2 diabetes
• hyperglycemia (overproduction of glucagon)
• hypoglycemia (more insulin produced than there is glucose in the blood)
• under active thyroid (hypothyroidism)
• overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism)
• over- or underproduction of the parathyroid hormone
• poor diet and nutrition
• being overweight
• hormonal replacement or birth control medications
• abuse of anabolic steroid medications
• solitary thyroid nodules
• pituitary tumors
• Cushing's syndrome (high levels of the hormone cortisol)
• Addison's disease (low levels of cortisol and aldosterone)
• benign tumors and cysts (fluid-filled sacks) that affect the endocrine glands
• congenital adrenal hyperplasia (low levels of cortisol)
• endocrine gland injury
• severe allergic reactions or infections
• cancers that involve endocrine glands
• chemotherapy and radiation therapy
• iodine deficiency (goiters)
• hereditary pancreatitis
• Turner syndrome (females with only one functioning X chromosome)
• exposure to toxins, pollutants, and endocrine disrupting chemicals, including pesticides and herbicides

Everyone experiences periods of hormonal imbalance at certain points in their life, but these can also occur when the endocrine glands are not functioning properly.
The symptoms of a hormonal imbalance depend on which glands and hormones are affected.
Symptoms associated with the more common causes of hormonal imbalances include:
• unexplained weight gain or weight loss
• unexplained or excessive sweating
• difficulty sleeping
• changes in sensitivity to cold and heat
• very dry skin or skin rashes
• changes in blood pressure
• changes in heart rate
• brittle or weak bones
• changes in blood sugar concentration
• irritability and anxiety
• unexplained and long-term fatigue
• increased thirst
• depression
• headaches
• needing to go to the bathroom more or less than usual
• bloating
• changes in appetite
• reduced sex drive
• thinning, brittle hair
• infertility
• puffy face
• blurred vision
• a bulge in the neck
• breast tenderness

Symptoms of hormonal imbalances in women include
• heavy, irregular or painful periods
• osteoporosis (weak, brittle bones)
• hot flashes and night sweats
• vaginal dryness
• breast tenderness
• indigestion
• constipation and diarrhea
• acne during or just before menstruation
• uterine bleeding not associated with menstruation
• increased hair growth on the face, neck, chest, or back
• infertility
• weight gain
• thinning hair or hair loss
• skin tags or abnormal growths
• deepening of the voice
• clitoral enlargement
EFFECTS OF HORMONAL IMBALANCE
Dryness of the vagina which leads to painful sex
Inability to conceive
Constant miscarriages
Quick ejaculation
Low sperm count
Weak erection

HealthRe: Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra: Basic Health Education by bumperCA2: 12:39pm On Apr 08, 2019
manontree:
What is dermatosis papulosa nigra?

I am sure a number of you have seen or heard of this. You may have seen some people with small dark moles on their faces or cheeks, neck etc. Some people have a few, while in some there are several. Some look ugly while some are downright repulsive. What many do not know is what it actually is. In this small article, let us get our health awareness up and running.

Dermatosis papulosa nigra (DPN) is a harmless skin condition that tends to affect people with darker skin. It consists of small, dark bumps that usually appear on your face and neck. While some people only develop a few bumps, others have many.

The small black or dark brown bumps caused by DPN are usually smooth, round, and flat. They range in size from 1 to 5 millimeters.
Over time, the bumps can become rougher looking. Sometimes the lesions have small flaps attached that look like skin tags. These are called peduncles.

While the bumps usually pop up on your face and neck, you might also notice them on your upper back or chest.
DPN usually starts during adolescence. As you get older, the bumps tend to grow bigger and increase in number.

What causes it?

Healthcare providers aren’t sure about the exact cause of DPN. However, the darker your skin is, the more likely you are to develop it. It also seems to be hereditary in many cases.

How is it treated?

DPN is harmless and doesn’t require treatment. However, if the bumps become itchy or you don’t like their appearance, there are a few options for removing them.

Surgical removal

In some cases, the bumps caused by DPN can be surgically removed through the following techniques, which are usually done with topical anesthesia:
• Curettage. This involves scraping away the bumps with a small scooping instrument.
• Electrocautery. This involves using a small probe with an electric current to burn away the bumps.
• Cryosurgery. This involves freezing off the bumps using liquid nitrogen.

Keep in mind that these treatments may leave scarring. They also won’t stop new bumps from appearing.

Laser treatments

Laser therapy uses different frequencies and levels of light to remove growths. Several types can help to remove or reduce the appearance of DPN growths, including:
• Carbon-dioxide laser. A 2016 study found that this type of laser therapy was a safe and effective option for DPN with a low chance of recurrence.
• Long-pulsed neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet lasers (Nd:YAG lasers). In a 2015 study involving 60 people with DPN, Nd:YAG laser therapy provided a 75 percent improvement in the number of bumps and their sizes. The same study also found that results were best after doing two sessions.
• KTP laser. This method uses a potassium titanyl phosphate (KTP) crystal along with a Nd:YAG laser.

Work with your healthcare provider to determine the best treatment option for the size of your bumps and your skin type.

HealthRe: Nigeria Suffers Severe Heatwave With No Relief In Sight by bumperCA2: 12:36pm On Apr 08, 2019
Jacktheripper:
Nigeria has been in the grip of an intense heatwave over the past few weeks, with meteorologist saying there is no relief in sight until the seasonal rains set in next month.

The extreme heat has been in place since March, with the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) saying last week that the heatwave has been affecting most parts of the country, including coastal areas, with temperatures well above 35 degrees Celsius.

On Friday, the temperature touched 42.2C in Minna, 120km northwest of Abuja. Meanwhile, Kano, 345km north of the capital, has notched up highs in excess of 40C every day since the beginning of April.
As people struggle to cope, authorities have been issuing warnings about the dangers brought on by the excessive temperatures.

Environmental expert Olwafemi Akinbode said climate change has become a public health risk.
"When you have heatwaves, the body is dehydrated, the young, the elderly, people that live sedated lives - these are the kind of people that have immediate health reactions to the heat wave," Akinbode said.
The severe heatwave is expected to continue until May when the seasonal rains are expected to spread north across the country.

Environmental experts have called on authorities to make long-term plans to slow down the effects of climate change by reducing carbon emission and impose bans on tree-cutting.

HealthRe: Premature Ejaculation: Causes and Remedies by bumperCA2: 12:32pm On Apr 08, 2019
Lazyreporta:
Ejaculation of semen during sexual intercourse before or immediately after penetration is said to be “premature ejaculation”.

Allroungist  found out that Over 10 million Nigerian males are suffering from PE; searching on-line for remedy. Some of them are to shameful to get solutions off-line just because they don’t want people to know they are 1 minute man. Their sexual life always end in a bad way, either they themselves are not happy they cum quick, or the madam.

Causes

A number of factors may be involved.

Psychological Factors
Most cases of premature ejaculation are not related to any disease and are instead due to psychological factors, including:

Most cases of PE are not related to any disease and are instead due to psychological factors, including:

sexual inexperience
issues with body image
novelty of a relationship
over excitement or too much stimulation
relationship
anxiety
feelings of guilt or inadequacy
depression
issues related to control and intimacy

These common psychological factors, according to MedicalNewstoday can affect men who have previously had normal ejaculation. These cases are often called secondary, or acquired, PE.

Medical causes
More rarely, there may be a biological cause.

The following are possible medical causes of PE:

Diabetes
Excessive alcohol consuption
illicit drug use
Prostate disease
Thyroid problem
Multiple sclerosis

Treatment for Premature Ejaculation:
In most cases, there is a psychological cause, and the prognosis is good.

If the problem occurs at the beginning of a new sexual partnership, the difficulties often resolve as the relationship goes on.

If, however, the problem is more persistent, doctors may recommend counselling from a therapist specializing in sexual relationships, or "couples therapy."

Topical drugs
Some topical therapies may be applied to the penis before sex, with or without a condom. These local aesthetic creams reduce stimulation.

Examples include lidocaine or prilocaine, which can improve the amount of time before ejaculation.

However, longer use of anaesthetics can result in numbness and loss of erection. The reduced sensation created by the creams may not be acceptable to the man, and the numbness can affect the woman, too.

Home remedies
Two methods that can be helpful for men are:

The start-and-stop method: This aims to improve a man's control over ejaculation. Either the man or his partner stops sexual stimulation at the point when he feels he is about to have an orgasm, and they resume once the sensation of impending orgasm has subsided.

The squeeze method: This is similar, but the man gently squeezes the end of his penis, or his partner does this for him, for 30 seconds before restarting stimulation.
A man tries to achieve this upward of three or four times before allowing himself to ejaculate.

Practice is important, and if the problem continues, it may be worth talking to a doctor.

Exercises
Researchers have found that Kegel exercises, which aim to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, can help men with lifelong premature ejaculation.

Forty men with the condition underwent physical therapy involving:

physio-kinesiotherapy to achieve muscle contraction
electrostimulation of the perineal floor
biofeedback, which helped them understand how to control the muscle contractions in the perineal floor
They also followed a set of individualized exercises.

After 12 weeks of treatment, over 80% of the participants gained a degree of control over their ejaculation reflex. They increased the time between penetration and ejaculation by at least 60 seconds.
