Culture / What Actually Is Igbo Traditional Attire by bundarina: 7:55pm On Feb 11, 2022
What I've seen is igbo take bits abd pieces of other groups traditional attire and say they 'also do it' when pre modern photos show that they didn't. I saw a tiktok of this American igbo people wearing Efik attire, Yoruba Gele and Edo attire as igbo culture.

Can igbo cultural figures come together and create a cultural attire that isn't copying and pasting other ethnicities attire. They'd say they wore like edo attire too without the Edo crown bead work but that's not true. Historical photos confirm this.

Some say that they wore a head wear similar to Gele called Ichafu, when Ichafu was actually an handkerchief they wore to church that came with colonialism. Ichafu is also a loan word from the French chef, and looked nothing like Yoruba Gele and the way it was styled. That's a given as historical photos show and both ethnicities were not in direct contact or neighbors, prior to the modern word.

So what's is actual igbo attire devoid of borrowing? And Isiagu is recent and imported, but i can respect it. Some other ethnicities in Cameroon, also within that Nigerian region have started the cultural borrowing too, mimicking their neighbors.

Video in question of a common example of the cultural outfit copy and paste. I will post screen shots since i can't post tiktoks.

You must not rewrite history to suite your narrative.
.

He isn't. Meanwhile figure out why igbo doesn't have traditional attire and borrows from Yoruba and Edos traditional attires today.

History repeats itself.

igbos should just behave and dress like the zulus and proudly wear skin instead of culture hopping with a blend of western.

Borrowed from Yoruba Gele, Borrowed from Edo outfit, Borrowed from Yoruba Aso- oke, Borrowed from Yoruba Aso Ebi. How is this igbo "traditional attire". Also Yorubas bow like ancient Chinese and Japanese civilized culture to show honor, what some cultureless outfit borrowers who are obsessed can't fathom. Where is the actual igbo native outfit? Does it exist?

The funny thing is they only wail about Lagos. Don't they have other SW states?
As we know Lagos is a no man's land which have been developed by other regions with Igbos having a major role. Anyday they see Igbos in Ekiti or any other SW states they should report to me.
The way they seek glory of the no man's land is very funny. Despersdos

There are igbo refugees in other Yoruba states. I even saw one in Ondo, but talking about Biafra on the radio, tweeting from Ondo, lolz. Our Lagos, Ondo and all the other Yoruba states are attractive to you, because Yorubas built them and are welcoming.

Another waste of time and resources.

When the igbos are done wasting time, i encourage them to rest and eat their akpu in peace.

Nigeria's unity is unegotiable .

I move!

Let anybody that wants to go go. I'm tired of states that don't contribute much make noise about separation while their people are many living in other ethnic groups states.

But Aworis are not yorubas.

And they have say it several times.

Aworis are Yoruba and speak Yoruba are you dumb. I've never heard any Awori say they're not Yoruba. It's a subclan. If someone from Oyo stupidly says he's different from someone from an Isha, doesn't stop them from both being Yoruba. The slogan for Lagos is Yoruba "Eko Oni baje", the key original land owners and leaders are Yoruba. Enough of this rubbish.

Romance / Re: Yoruba Women And Their Love For Igbo Men by bundarina: 4:04pm On Oct 05, 2021
It's like the case of white American women and immigrant mexican men, that's like Yoruba Women and igbo men. White American women don't marry Mexicans in large numbers because they don't want a man outside their homeland and they aren't as attracted to those men. A Mexican Woman has better chances with a white American man because she's the one that sees him in higher regard and she's living on his land.

Igbos are the immigrants to Yoruba land, Yoruba women aren't attracted to them and would rather marry a man of their soil. Igbo women are immigrants to Yoruba land and sees Yoruba men as a price, she can go back home to the East on holidays and come back to the Yoruba land with her Yoruba husband.

The Yoruba women you'll see marrying igbo men are the ones who lives or grew up in east. Few Yoruba Women born in Yoruba land would want to leave the South West to cajole with an igbo husbands family and culture in the East.

Lagos is a no man's land. Igbos have 48.5% of total population of the State i.e about 9 million of 20M. Underestimate Igbos in Lagos at ur own peril.

In your dreams. Go back to Biafra with your fantasies. Enugu is no man's land, except Nna Kano and his children.

Liar. Why is Emir ruling in Ilorin instead of Oba or Kabiyosi? Continue deceiving urself.

Emir is an Arabic word and used for Muslim sultanates and predominantly Muslim communities like Ilorin. You see you didn't go to school.

I never said the Beninese don't have Yoruba blood cos they do. I only said that Lagos was originally owned by old Benin Kingdom, hence, the name, Eko.

I'm still waiting for your own version.

Your revisionist attempt of history stems from Jealousy and bitterness. Yorubas face Jealousy and attack from people without prominent history and culture. You're definitely not Edo. Nothing Edo about Lagos. Lagos is Yoruba land and remains so. It was founded by Awori Yorubas.

When the show is sponsored by an igbo, why wouldn't a plain, random, flat faced igbo win?All the Yoruba girls and Northern girls are more beautiful.
