cretin: the 2002 infinity outclasses the 2000 4runner interms of looks/interior/finishing...but the 4runner wins over reliability n ruggedness.........the solution out of ur dilenma wud be to go for a 2003 4runner.. 4th gen 4runner is 2003 to 2009 the 2003 being the first in the series is cheaper than the newer models hovering around the 2m price range or even lower depending on its state

You are right to some extent, Cretin. But I think the 1999-2002 model was designed straight to the point, no excesses. The 4th and later generation boast of good interior, as some even come with DVD and 3rd row. Also smoother drive. But beware of the exterior when it is aging 'cos of its big shape! 1999-2002 model seems to have stronger body than the later models (judging from looks).

Anything is possible, but honestly I am wondering where you get the 03 model for the price range you stated. If you are getting it less than 2.3m, check its state very well also run the VIN check.

Can you explain more with facts why the 4Runner is poor? I have used the 2 units at different times when I was working as a field engr in Nigeria. I ve used them to Birnin-Kebbi to Calabar, Obudu to Kano, etc. My company later stopped using any other SUV for our field job except the 4Runner! It's durability and performance stands our clearly! It's high endurance capability still amazes me each time I recall my field experience in Nigeria.

If you are looking for ruggedness, go for the 4Runner.
If you are looking for low cost of maintenance, for for 4Runner
If you are looking for high-endurance engine, go for the 4Runner
If you are looking for classy interior, go for Infinity
If you are looking for sharp response and a smoother ride, go for Infinity.
