Uhhh, actually, it's the president's responsibility to safeguard life.

If we had peace for his entire term, he would take the praises. So, why doesn't he take the blame when there's chaos? Wasn't Jonathan attacked by Tinubu for this same reason?

It's the president's responsibility to safeguard life, anywhere, any day. He and the governors have failed us all woefully.

There's not

There's no way to twist this fact.
It is the president’s duty to safeguard people that don’t care about their fellow country men, Same issue that Jonathan, & Buhari failed?

Well finally, the chicken has come home to roost, yet for that country, na una go church & mosque pass for west Africa.

Cases Where Subsidy Removal Was Managed Smoothly
1. Malaysia
In December 2014, Malaysia ended all fuel subsidies, moving to a managed-float system for petrol prices. The government also directed the savings toward public services like healthcare and infrastructure

.

Analysts emphasize that the reform began gradually and was combined with targeted compensation for low-income households, mitigating short-term pain and avoiding major price shocks
Scie
.

2. Morocco
Starting in 2013, Morocco eliminated oil subsidies and shifted to market-driven prices. Importantly, the government expanded cash transfers to vulnerable groups especially transport workers and rural families so that everyday prices didn’t spike uncontrollably

.

3. Cape Verde & Albania
Cape Verde phased out subsidies early, paired with a clear, gradual strategy and frequent price adjustments, which allowed markets to adapt smoothly

Albania used a crisis-era pricing board temporarily, later returning to routine price updates as the market stabilized

4. The Philippines
The government replaced fuel-price controls with targeted cash transfers to low-income households, rather than keeping prices artificially low across the board. This avoided excessive distortions in goods prices while still protecting the vulnerable
Go & meet your state & local government to find out how they implemented & spent judiciously the revenue from the oil subsidy removal.

What eb1lokan said is not enough for you?

Do you want more confirmation of his own assessment of failure?

The eyesore on Bourdillon Road
2nd January 2025

Beyond his neighbours, there is something about the sight of people hanging around a president’s residence that does not speak well of his leadership capabilities. Maybe no one has nudged him to see it, but the impression that spectacle on Bourdillon Road generates is that Tinubu enjoys the sight of suffering humans and thrives in—and through— their poverty.

If all these years, impoverished people hang around you and you remain comfortable enough to keep them just so they can be handed tokens of your large heart, then it means you have a pro-poverty mindset. Such a frame of mind is oriented toward cultivating poverty rather than stimulating abundance.

That is why he could unproblematically relate the story of his “friend” who went from using five Rolls Royce to a far-less valued car and not consider the import of the nonsense he was saying. That spurious account was an indication that this is a man for whom poverty—of others, not himself—is an ideal.

And it is a former pro-democracy activist that is the one backsliding the country’s democracy. The truth is that it is very difficult for anybody to resist the temptations in the presidency.

Peter Obi is among the few Nigerians that can actually withstand those temptations.

Sponsored and state-supervised attacks on opposition figures like Elrufai, Aregbesola, Malami, Katsina Elders and now Rhodes-Vivor is not looking good for our democracy. Politics › Re: Leave Our Leaders Alone, Face Bandits – ADC Tells Police, Federal Gov’t by Burob: 10:01pm On Sep 06, 2025
Ofunaofu:
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed grave concern over the increasing use of law enforcement agencies to harass and intimidate opposition leaders, while criminal violence continues to devastate communities across the country.

The party condemned the police summons issued to former governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, as well as the attack on the former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami’s convoy in Kebbi State, which left many party members injured and terrified.

In a statement signed by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the national publicity secretary of the ADC, the party described these developments as an assault not just on individual politicians, but on Nigeria’s democracy itself. It warned that the Nigeria Police Force had seemingly become a willing tool of political suppression for the federal government rather than a national security department, that is truly focused on rooting out bandits and other criminals across the country.

It added that at a time when terrorists and criminal gangs freely operate in large parts of the North, the Nigeria Police appeared more interested in silencing opposition leaders than protecting citizens.

The ADC said these acts by the police were not isolated, but represent a systematic attempt to criminalise opposition politics, especially in states where the ruling party feels threatened by the growing influence of the ADC.

You are actually the one that seems clueless here. There is no where in the world where a federal government project should be undertaken by an individual without approval from the parliament. It only seems just in your sense because nigeria has unconstitutionally allowed individuals to embark on handling some government projects but for their own personal gains. This shouldn't be encouraged, she can influence her husband who is the president to fix the national library with public funds.
As he rightfully said, opposition activities can make some, lose their sense of logic reasoning.

okeychris:
House of Reps Opposition Lawmakers Call for Change of Minority Leadership Over N19b Scandal

A growing discontent is brewing among opposition lawmakers in the House of Representatives, fueled by perceived compromises by the minority leadership in the 10th Assembly.

Critics accuse their leaders of being overly cozy with the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, rendering them ineffective in holding the ruling party accountable for pressing issues like crippling hardship, rampant insecurity, and widespread corruption. The lawmakers' reluctance to speak out has sparked public outcry, eroding trust in the opposition's ability to provide robust oversight.

They attribute the minority leadership's disturbing silence on the people's plight to financial inducements from the APC-led House leadership, allegedly through unequal distribution of funds and misappropriated funds in the budget, including vague 'zonal intervention projects' and other opaque initiatives used for political patronage by the National Assembly leadership. It is said that the leadership of the both arms of the National Assembly appropriate hundreds of billions to themselves in the budget in the name of phantom zonal projects.

A recent viral video in the social media where the Deputy Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. George Ozodinobi, was boasting about the N19b he 'has' in the current budget cast light to this trend and further infuriated other lawmakers who are not part of the leadership of the House.

This insensitive disclosure was made at the Iwa-Iji ( New yam festival) ceremony of the Igwe of Nimo, Anambra State, where the Deputy Minority Whip, George Ozodinobi, who is planning to run for Senate made the above disclosure.

It's even more ironical that Hon. Ozodinobi is not only representing the Labour Party, but also is the representative of Mr. Peter Obi's Federal Constituency. Obi is the National leader of LP and its presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections. Obi is known to be an advocate for transparency in governance.

Statutorily, each of the 360 federal constituencies are only entitled to capital projects and zonal intervention projects not exceeding N1billion in the current budget, so many are bewildered that if Hon. Ozodinobi who is the least in the 10-man Leadership of the House could input 19B, then it could only be imagined what the others got.

Following the viral video's release, disgruntled members, already frustrated over unpaid contractors, have intensified calls for a change in leadership, particularly within the Minority Leadership of the House. They accuse the leadership of colluding with the ruling APC, citing a lack of advocacy for opposition interests. "Can you name one policy issue the minority caucus, led by Kingsley Chinda, a known Nyesom Wike ally, has championed on the House floor?" an angry opposition lawmaker fumed.

Continuing, the lawmaker stated that since it was an APC government, it is the opposition caucuses in the Parliament that should hold them to account, but that he said, was not happening because of obvious pecuniary interests.

Given the apparent level of compromise and collusion with the ruling party, opposition lawmakers question the ability of the current minority leaders to provide effective oversight and hold the government accountable, casting doubt on their commitment to genuine opposition objectives and the interests of the people.
Quite obvious that no opposition exists, just empty barrels.
