After i bought a device that i showed off with... Everyone in my camp wanted to take snapshots with my phone's camera.

This is just 7 months of usage and the camera takes a different image quality after the shot has been taken.

I've noticed this in several phones... What's the cause please?
trust me, yr camera didn't depreciate. its that small piece of plastic or glass that is covering the camera len that is scratched. just try removing the plastic covering and see yr camera back in action.

I actually updated my rooted phone from miui 7 to miui 8 through the updater app. I only lost root privilege after the update. Since most of the apps I had bought while rooted still works even after losing root access, I see no reason to root for now. After switching to developer rom, I think custom roms( its a major reason for rooting) look useless to me for now.
Its true, sometimes miui Rom doesn't require rooting, it has many features that a stock android Rom lacks.

Well i still advice that a rooted xiaomi phone should not be updated via updater app. Using fastboot Rom and mi flash or recovery update is safer and better.

Are you ready for miui 9?

Miui rocks!
PhonesRe: The Xiaomi Thread. by BuzzRay(m):

most of what you typed are just fears. I am not rooted but developer rom on miui are quite stable. As a matter of fact when u are on it you do not need root. Most of what i need root for are already installed. I use a MI4 n its been working great. I have never encountered a boot loop. I will advice you have a copy of the rom on your SD, that way you could easily flash it from recovery when ever you mess things up
ure right, am scared of stuffs like bricking, bootloop, that's y i ask questions before going on any flashing/updating adventure. I have never used a developer Rom

Thanks man for clarifying things.

ironheart:
sorry bro. i get update right from the updater app on my phone. why do i need root? you should always unroot the device before update, switch to developers rom and you wouldnt regret it
I have heard cases of users who unroot before update, but their phone stil got bricked, its scary. Developer roms are great but not free from bugs. I prefer the gobal rom.

Are you rooted? If yes what are the ways you updated without being stuck on bootloop.(i hate updating with Mi flash) Am asking because i don't currently use a miui phone, planning on getting the redmi 2 soon, although i have used redmi 1.

hahahahaha the beauty about xiaomi is that you dont need special skills to tweek your phone. Just go to en.miui.com and you have all you need. There are two type of 4 main types of xiaomi roms.

These are
Chines stable rom
Chines developers rom
Global stable rom
Global developers rom

I prefere the global developers rom. Its all in english
Though the chines roms gets updated faster but you have to deal with chines specific apps and there is no google apps n stores installed by default. Though there are tutorials on how to get them on your chines rom

But i will advice everyone to use the global developers rom

All you need to do is

1 Download the latest MIUI ROM for your device from http://en.miui.com/download.html

2 Connect your device to the Windows PC/laptop via a micro USB cable, and copy the ROM file downloaded in Step 1 into the folder ‘downloaded_rom’ in the internal storage of your device.

NOTE YOU CAN DOWNLOAD USING YOUR PHONE AS WELL N USING FILE EXPLORER TO MOVE THE ROM TO ‘downloaded_rom’

3 Launch ‘Updater' app on your device:
MIUI 6:Click the ‘…’ icon at the top-right corner, select ‘Choose update package’, and choose the ROM file you’ve put in ‘downloaded_rom’ in Step 2.

Press the Menu button, select ‘Choose update package’, and choose the ROM file you’ve put in ‘downloaded_rom’ in Step 2.

After choosing the right ROM file, your device will begin upgrading. Your device should automatically boot to the new version when the update is completed.

Its simple and advisable. Xiaomi allows its devices to be rooted

My mi4 is simple, no finger scanner but i enjoy the infrared remote.

I use it to control AC, cd player, tv, rechargeable fan and its cool. My remove is busy gathering dust.
Hello, i think if ure rooted and you use the updater app to update yr phone, it might get bricked. i read it in miui forum

The screen is made with normal glass ie it isn't a gorrilla glass. Mine came prefixed with screen protector, but you can order for it seperately.

Tho only problem I have with it is how long it takes to charge, it doesn't support quick charge apparently. It takes 4 to 5hrs to charge it from about 15% to full charge. Since I've been using it I haven't discharged it past 15%, that partly due to it effecient battery.

I rooted it 2 wks after purchase via XDA developer; it has its own thread.

The fingerprint scanner is super responsive.
Oh, thank you for your quick and detailed response. Id get the device soon. I have seen the rooting thread on xda, i guess it was quit simple for u to root.

I love this device. wink

You're right op, I bought Doogee X5 max pro from aliexpress about 2wks ago. It costs just $84(27000ngn, its very reponsive, plays Asphalt 8 and mkx smoothly, and it has a figerprint scanner.

With 4000mah battery, it lasts for 2 days on light use and abt 24hrs with heavy usage and a whooping 5 to 6 days on standby.
hello my friend. I wanna get this phone too. Pls i need you to tell me somethings about it.

The screen what is it made of? glass or plastic, is it strong? And do you use any glass screen guard.

How long does it take the battary to full from 0 percent? And how long does it last

Have you been able to root it? (most important)

Does the fingerprint sensor work well?
As in is it responsive?

Please these are the stuffs i wanna know b4 i order from jumia. Thanks
