and how easy is it for them to get a 2 year residence permit from nigeria ?u know it is almost impossible . What must have happened in ur case is ,maybe u have someone in dubai who has links good enough to secure u that job. Back to ur question, they ended up as cargo boys when they couldn't secure any salary job and their 1 or 2 months visa most often got expired. The uae employment market is now filled with qualified people with good experience from india and all other countries.if one is to compete and secure a good job as urs that person needs good qualification plus experience and 2 years residence permit. That is what the 2 engineer guys on this thread in qatar are saying. I know many fraudsters that went to dubai in 1999 and the first thing they did was to pay the fee for 2 years visa which I think was around 2k dollars or around that then. But tell me how many of these hustlers can pay 500k naira for visa only today.
dats wat am saying too if you can get me ryt ma man, d first tym I came here in Dubai was 2011 nd d only jobs I was getting offer for were cleaner nd security guard den nd de were paying jst 1200dirams but I was I rather go back to Nigeria dan taking dos offer, but wen I heard dat de v increased security guard salary to 1800 with 4days off which is Friday but if u wanna work on Friday de pay twice of nd it makes it 2400dirams, so I contacted one of ma guy dat stayed back den nd he advised me to com on an employment visa in 2012. So am not saying it easy to get direct employment visa by yasef, of course you need to have someone in that can help you out.

another thing i see in this bad abroad/ good nigeria thing is that, so people are used to good/smooth life right from birth, some people mayt consider earning 1800-2500dhms as very low, its jst a matter of wat we are xposed to.
even right from the university, av been living with 15people inside one room( am sure Great Ife people can testify to this), so to me, its somthing m used to.
av been working for over a year now with 45salary. tell me, what can i do with 45k, feeding isnt part of it, tfare isnt part of it, nd dem no born me well to rent house(i wan diee undecided). If i had been in uae for over one year, earning as low as 1500aed,(wen am left with feeding). I wuld av better than i am now(by God's grace). I am very sure some people will not even touch there salary as a result of business they are doing to support themselves. everywhere has its negative sides, we jst av to be dtermined nd pray to God to favour every decision you make
most pple believe dat it's wen u go to uk or USA dat u earn a better life and de keep aiming so high, so wen de hear about Dubai salary, de keep shouting de prefer to stay at home. Go to uk nd USA too, some are living a difficult life nd it happens every where. You can imaging a security guard in Abu Dhabi d capital of Dubai earning as much as 3500dirams monthly, your luck matter most. USA, Canada and some European countries are better than Dubai yet you see dem everywhere working in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

stop misleading ppl,how many nigerian are lucky to get those jobs compared to those who eventually end up as cargo boys on caliwali visa? The ratio of nigerians who are lucky like u isn't up to 10%what about the remaining 90 or even 80% .my brother was one of the lucky few and that was even becos he went to dubai early in 1997,before the influx of indians and the rest.
its just because they didn't av a better plan nd am not misleading anyone here like I said to oda guy, if they av come in with direct employment visa which is 2 yrs residence permit, why we they end up doing cargo jobs please? I need a reply from u

You're right Sir!...but you're also one of the lucky ones. How many of your contemporaries can boast of same?

I have nothing against traveling 'abroad' (USA, Canada, Europe, Arab countries...anywhere) if you have a clear-cut course of action and marketable skills.

where I have a problem is when People want to travel out simply for the purpose of traveling out or in search of some fictitious greener pastures, without doing their home work properly.
in any country you want to travel to, just make sure you take all d ryt step ma brother. Take Dubai for instance of you want to come in for job, you don't need to come in with a tourist visa in d first place because you are still going to exit out of the country when you got a job offer for the company to apply for you employment visa, so you can come in on a direct employment visa which is d best cuz it also means 2yrs direct resident visa on either u wanna com in for cleaner, security guard, plumber, concrete mansion, tilers, carpentry, helper nd so on.....but it's better to com in for security guard if u can read nd write cuz u will be issue a foreign certificate for security personnel

who told u dat ya spouse can't join u? So far you get job of 5500dirams or 6000, you are entitle to bring in ya spouse in and will be on ya resident permit, all you need to do is to provide ya marriage certificate and make sure ya job is safe!!!

Op is right...... bt for those criticizing those that are travelling out, pls dont angry imagine doing business with 500k in Nigeria nd doing business with 500k from dubai to nigeria undecided. I know it all depends on the grave of God, but m sure business of 500k from dubai to nigeria will pays better than 500k nigeria-nigeria business. I av many people in dubai doing security jobs and they are doing fine. Where i work in NIgeria(bsc), i earn 45k/month, nd those i met there, they av there for 4yrs, they are on 75k. we work 9hrs/day(9am-6pm), monday to saturday. you leave yur house 4-5am, get back home 9-10pm(roughly 16hrs/day), isnt this slavery my bro nd sis, starting with security job that can earn you 70+ above in uae(e.g dubai) is good, with the opportunity of doing business from there back home.

the truth of the matter is even in Nigeria, they come to enslave us with bullshit salaries, if yu can work here in nigeria, leave yur house 5am, get back home 9-10pm, yu shld survive the stress in uae too, though i know changing jobs isnt easy in uae. Yeah, there are some good jobs in Nigeria, some peple have been on 40-70k job here in Nigeria for close to 8yrs with the hope of getting a better one and they are still hoping.

my advice to people going is that, dnt leave on salary alone, there are so many businesses to venture into from there. If you av the opportunity to port out of the country, try to use, shine yur eye by porting well nd pary for blessings from God.
another gr8 write up from you. Just wondering wat business you can invest #500k into, I mean in Nigeria of today, I don't see wat is bad in starting up with security guard job here in uae with only ya ssce or even non so far u can pass your DPS( Dubai police training exam) den along d way your bsc or master degree can fetch u a better offer. More over u can start up a business in nigeria from Dubai if u av a trustworthy member in ya family. So to my own opinion for dos shouting here dat de prefer to stay in nigeria #500k, a security guard in Dubai dat also establish a business down in nigeria is far better than u in many ways

@op you have tried but you haven't told them about lots of social restrictions in the uae.

1. drinking of alcohol in public places is not allowed.
2. hugging or kissing a girl in open places is not allowed.
3. eating in public places during Ramadan is also not allowed irrespective of your belief.
4. if you are not a visitor from the western countries you may find it difficult to obtain a residence visa.

uae is a nice place to be only if you can abide by their rules. bcs I can remember in previous years, a British woman was raped but the Dubai authority jailed her for adultery disregarding the fact that they knew she was raped. there are lots of things to consider b4 going to the uae. make good research before settling down there.
the woman get Drunk and you know what it means if you got no license for it but may be it's different from d one I read of

The Craze among Nigerian youths to travel 'abroad' is really alarming. I don't know why most of us think we can't make it' here.
How can a young man leave Nigeria with a Masters degree and go be an Airport security personnel (or something worse, in many cases) in U.K or some other random country?
That's why people get defrauded on a daily basis by fraudsters claiming to be Visa agents.

I'd rather remain here in Nigeria, where I have complete freedom, and have the rights of a first class citizen, than go elsewhere and be a second or even third class citizen. I will travel 'abroad' for business and leisure when the time comes....

..wonderful writeup @OP
but I like to remember u also dat, dre are many Nigerians with bsc holder dat were jobless for d past 6yrs nd many end up as a cab or bike rider....I only av ssce with me nd am earning 2400dirams per month with free accommodation with transport, 2 months salary bonus every 2yrs plus free ticket to ur home country to nd fro....ma monthly salary for dis security guard is #118,000 with ssce, can you get such offer in Nigeria?

Sometimes I jut wonder a stupid and useless nigerian citizen that will still vote for GEJ, nigerians trusted dis man and let them down, people gave him their vote and not even the party, because of what he have in mind he couldn't arrest obasanjo nd jail him since he became the president, no job, no security, no lite, corruptions every where, 5 months ASUU strike, doctors about to go on strike as well, but I don't blame most of you cuz u ar still gonna sell you vote after receiving #500 or 1000 they normally give.
