Did anybody receive alert for interview tomorrow by 1pm at UbA house ?? |
@Nuel1647 in other news nimasa head was sacked (name is too long). Are you saying that the likes of nimasa and nddc or not political position ?? I don't think they have any protection from the Senate. |
vechris10:Lol..I think he might want to do last minute favours like the previous MD did before he left office. The funny thing is that the MD may have not been sacked directly or he hasn't seen the news. Lol I was watching the same news and seen the MD signing mou with some foreign construction companies to rehabilitate the east west road... ![]() |
Like play, like play. E don happen http://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/183392-group-appeals-to-buhari-not-to-dissolve-nddc-board.html http://www.punchng.com/news/buhari-dissolves-boards-of-federal-parastatals-agencies/ May God help us all |
Realman87:I agree with you. I cannot do my masters in a non English speaking country but I'm likely to wait if Australia is an option. As for UK and their immigration rules, any serious minded naija boy who is really determined to live and work there should know what to do by now..if you can't do it do not complain. after all, they did not open their borders for charitable reasons. |
geobukky:Ok..I thought it was Portsmouth.good uni though quite expensive. |
geobukky:Guy which course and school did you apply for?? |
vechris10:Thank God you said its a dream. What course and school is that ?? I didn't do skype interview but it seems they want they want to confirm what you wrote on your personal statement.my department keep sending me mails about the course content and Summer work. When you talking about internship, are you inferring that 60 units out of 180 units would qualify you for a placement/project in lieu of dissertation?/ For example, in my course content there are 3 options to consider when choosing the final 60 unit. 1.placement and project The unit will provide opportunities for students to gain and develop employability skills through a period of work experience with an industrial or research partner, such as within the University or with an external company. The student gains from having the opportunity to work in an organisation and being treated as a professional, while the employer gains from having access to skills and expertise. Importantly, this period in the work place should also provide an opportunity for the design (through completion of the project proposal) and data collection stages of the student dissertation project in collaboration with a University academic and mentor from the company or research partner. This unit is available to an MSc student who is offered a work experience opportunity that has the approval of the University. Other project units are available to those students not undertaking work experience. |
vechris10:Yes, you will not come back and continue doing menial jobs until you get working visa or green card (that is if you see wife marry). That one no be life my brother. @girliygirly this scholarship thing you waiting for is likely to show up by October we just passing time to see whether things may improve before then. The post study opportunities are very important when choosing a destination for MSC. Who tell you say masters go get you good job even if you go top school ?? Let me tell you about the experience of a friend of mine who got a job years after his masters in a top business school abroad. After his msc he found out that he was no longer eligible for the competitive graduate trainee/ entry level jobs due to the age factor. He found out it was only through his niche and networking power that could land him his desired job. He finally got the job and is fulfilled to be working in his desired field with the help of his masters. My point is do not do it for the sake of better job prospect or you may end up frustrated if you have poor networking skills in your niche/field. Just do it for the love of the subject/knowledge and international experience. |
Nuellah:May 5 |
ifyonline:Interview after test. Still a long way to go but its surely marketing as I perceived it. |
Nuel1647:There are plenty factors to consider when deciding on how to use the 30000 USD from nddc. The gospel truth is that your financial back up would determine how you use it within the short period of time. The depreciation of naira isn't helping the scholarship funds. From my own personal research, UK seems to be the best option if you consider the financial implications. Canada, usa, Australia seem to be quite expensive with nddc funds. As for Norway Sweden and Germany. You have to show at least 8000 euros per year (do the math for 2 yrs in naira)for maintainance money.processing time Language and visa issues may become another barrier. As for USA and Canada, the average low ranked school is about 12000 usd a year, USA is quite expensive than the Canadian dollar. You need to show/have atleast 8-10usd a year for maintanance apart from tuition. I do not support the folks that would tell you there is job to hustle for the rest. Another thing to consider is visa assurance. Hope you have your tofel and GRE scores and some other documents if asked. Australia would have been my dream destination, for a 2yr MSC it cost 35k aud per annum. Living expenses is 15k per annum. Its the best for folks with strong financial backing. Its English speaking and post study opportunities are higher. Some folks would say Canada but they sometimes ask if Canadian working experience. As for UK, the nddc money would pay your tuition and cover some part of your accommodation and feeding if your tuition is as low as 13k and you studying outside london . the left over would be less than what you would need for other countries except Germany (depending on your cash at hand). In summary, your financial power would really determine how you would use the scholarship money. Nothing is free or cheap in my own opinion |
Did any body get an alert for interview tomorrow 14th at marina 9am?? |
Baroba:Australian master is quite expensive. Its twice the fee of a UK masters. I don't see a problem with their restrictions since its a tier 4 visa. The thing is the marriage option has always been an avenue for serious international students who want to live and work in the UK. Why is that Nigerians do not marry the UK/Nigerian citizens ? Are they restricted to whites when it cones to marriage?? |
Mush:I don't really know the job of those consultant but its possible they can have slots for candidates. The thing is that nddc has the final say on the list. Its possible they have slots for special candidates. Just pray you find favour where ever you seek. As for the ministry of Niger delta, nddc and some other state governers, the efcc need to recover some loot from these parasites that hamper development in the region. Did you read the news where oshiomole promised nddc that fg would support them with funds. The recovery of loot from the corrupt ones may be of benefict to us. Do you know that its possible to use scholarship schemes like this as an opportunity to loot?? |
Kleopatraxy:Lol...if you applied through an agent you can instruct the agent to defer for you or you call the admission office in the UK to defer.sometimes they do it automatically for you (my experience). As for deferring the scholarship, its possible to change the date on the letter but I doubt if its possible to change the amount since its fixed for that particular year awarded. You would be better informed during the briefing when you are successful. I'm only telling you this experience from a friend who got it last year and should be preparing for his visa as I write this. In his own case, the date was the only thing altered and it was done after the briefing last year. |
@Nuel1647 My brother I didn't say that buhari should give them the oil money because gej has basterdized the definition of amnesty... From my understanding amnesty means an official pardon for people who have been convicted of political offenses. But you know you need money to settle them back into the civilian society so that they do not become a nuisance. Gej did what was best during his own time to bring peace and I can bet you that not all Nigerians were in support of his amnesty package. Today its Buhari turn, let him do what is best for the sake of peace. Personally, I think this boko haram thing is a scam. The reason is that I cannot see terrorist wasting ammunition without a purpose. If you watch Murray Bruce advert on stv, he was campaigning for Nigerians to allow pMB invest money in for the exploration of oil in the chad basin. He said that Niger and chad have seen evidences of oil which may be the something boko haram are fighting for. They want their own independence which may never happen but if it does, good luck to them. |
Raywise:My brother, open your eyes. You are on this thread complaining about amnesty for people who are already millionaires and property owners abroad while graduates are here struggling to get 200 partial scholarship from candidates. Just google kano state overseas scholarship and compare what your Niger delta leaders are offering you. The militants you are fighting for have not contributed anything to the development of the Niger delta yet you want these parasites who have forgotten what they were fighting for to continue collecting illegal money. If you know the amount of money these militants earn + the side runs from federal government you would see reasons why pmb has to stop it. As for buhari giving amnesty to bokoharam.its his decision to make as the death toll is increasing daily. You dont leave in the north as a disenfranchised citizen (as jega talk am) and you can never tell how desperate they need the same peace you are enjoying. Even the likes of UK and us have not found a solution to it talk less of a border less nigeria |
elnino2015:Nddc are the organizers. They are the ones with the funds to sponsor successful scholars. They are the ones who also hired the consultant. Therefore they are the ones who have the final say on when the list would be out depending on the availability of funds |
elnino2015:Its not media answer brother, he only gave you an estimated time you should expect to hear from them. I wasn't predicting mine, I got my info from a staff who works there. The thing is the organizers aren't ready to release the list anytime soon. |
vechris10:The good news I have is that it didn't affect the scholarship. The bad news is that the list would be out in October. The only thing I'm not cool with why do they ignored the resumption dates?? |
If I was in your shoes, I would go to lagos business school for an mba. No need to resign from your current job. Your budget and ambition fits into lagos business school. |
@nuel, There will always be peace since the fg and cabals have most of their investments in the oil sector. Its only those that do not have anything that would be seeking for crisis. The only fear I have is that pmb would want to reduce the Niger delta budget which would definitely affect on going schemes and projects. |
aamstih:As soon as pmb appoints a new minister for Niger delta affairs.he might leave since its a political post. |
Nuel1647:I'm not disputing the facts that militants Don't have money for ammunitions but I'm telling you that federal government still has the power to cut their source of finance and ammunitions. Take Biafra for example a 3yr war that eneded up just by cutting food supplies, thats the same way militants would surrender at the end but at the detriment of innocent civilians. The only reason why fg is taking it easy with these insurgents and militants is because of human rights violation/amnesty international. Ask yourself where were these insurgents and militants when obasanjo was civilian President ?? |
Nuel1647:Hahaha...no body is praying for crisis but they way you hyping these militants is based on sentiments. Nd militants too small for federal government to handle. The worst they can do is to vandalise the pipelines and hide in the creeks (same strategy as bokoharam). But for how long will they continue ?? Do they have the funds to sustain their acts?? even gej told them that they are on their own after he lost. No more free money Asari 10 million USD per annum salary would stop this October let me see how he will get fundings for weapons thereafter. |
@Nuel1647 On June 26, 2009, the Nigerian Government announced that it would grant Amnesty and an unconditional pardon to Militants in the Niger Delta which would last for 60 days beginning on 6 August 2009 and ending 4 October 2009. Former Nigerian President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua signed the amnesty after consultation with the National Council Of State. During the 60 day period armed youths are required to surrender their weapons to the Government in return for training and rehabilitation by the government. During the 60 day period militants led their groups to surrender weapons which includes; Rocket-propelled grenades, guns, explosives, ammunition and even gunboats have all been surrendered to the government my brother na gej give these militants mouth till date . 2009-2015 is more than enough time to train and rehabilitate any militants. Its was not a life time benefit in the first place. Yaradua would have stopped it if he were alive and those militants can't do shit. We have nddc (created by obasanjo even after the odi massacre) and ministry of Niger delta that receive annual allocation from federal government (plus each of the 9 states ) each year. At this stage our faith lies in the hand of federal government not militants. pmb would simply declare them as terrorist if they fail to reach an agreement. And you know that international bodies do not recognize militants. Their leader asari dockubo regards himself as ex-militant leader and is currently not sure whether pmb govt recognizes him as a Nigerian wanted on treason. |
Nuel1647:free pmb bro, thats not true but I'm in support of him scrapping the amesnty for those thugs. Amnesty is a pardon not a free money for life program. For how long should they train them at the expense of graduates ![]() The amnesty sponsor is fg. Its niger delta that is in charge for those scholarship.pmb has no hand in their affairs |
stepo707:Buhari has got nothing to do with the delay of nddc scholarship neither is he the one hindering the payment of the scholars on Niger Delta scholarship. After all he went to Aldershot academy for training during his time in the Nigerian army...his focus is on Nnpc as that is the source Nigeria's income. The problem with nddc is linked with national assembly and our Niger delta leaders. I heard that the nddc budget had to be revisited but the national assembly has suspended activities till july. They are not straight forward in their actions. Kano state government sponsored 2000 candidates to different universities without delay in payments as they are trying to catch up with the west in terms of education but our leaders always want to joke with schemes like this that would develope the youth. For example if you read the thread about the Niger delta scholarship, they were promised 500USD per month for their up keep but ended up with 300USD..that's the kind of joke these Niger delta folks played on their scholars. Ptdf seems to be the only reliable organization in terms of scholarship. |
For option 2 I heard of two guys at Coventry uni who got employed with rolls Royce through their project /dissertation supervisior. The thing is the lecturer had a project with the company and the student had the skill and the experience he needed for the project. Thought it was contract. I also learnt they didn't undergo any resident labour test before they got the job. For option 4 I meant approval from ukba to get married. I heard they do such to check authenticity of the relationship For option 1 Can you do a PGD in another related course while you still in the UK or you have to go back home to re-apply |
Dantidote:What kind of advise is that ?? The guy also felt like commenting and was indirectly attacking others with meaningful contributions to this thread.what will he advise the successful ones when they get the partial scholarship ?? |
