@ OP As they say, if you can't be with them you join them. I will advise you to get lots of Jalamia with Hausa/Fulani Cap and learn their language but you must also look like hausa, i hope u r not light in complexion {lmao}. A corp member escaped death during the post- election violence when their bus was attacked only because he said Sai Buhari. If you still decide to go further, i will advise you go alone cos its easy for you alone to run when they start their wahala and learning their language is an added option.
But why do we call ourselves one in Nigeria when we are not ONE. Why on earth will some people derive joy killing their fellow Nigerians all in the name of religion and ethnicity. It really sucks

The 'son' seems to have left out the bit about his mothers alleged 'infidelity' with the Yoruba man who lived with them in London for a year (or whatever it was the ambassador claimed)!  angry It doesn't add up! Any man who does what we see in those pictures to a woman is a beast and does not deserve to represent any people! He had no right to cause her to suffer any injuries - minor or major!
Don't you think the woman injured herself so as to disgrace his Husband. There are lots of women who can do this all because they want to tarnish the image of their husband. For now, we don't know how the woman got the cut on her face, either caused by the Husband or she did it to herself. I'm still waiting to read comments from her daughter, but from all what we have read from workers and staffs of the embassy, it clearly shows she is violent.

This is a lesson for all men who have violent wives. Where are those castigating and crucifying the man, where are they to make comments. Women can be so deceptive and evil. No need of going to court here, its gonna be a waste of time, money and resources which the woman doesn't even have. lmao
Autos › Re: How To Successfully Pre Order A Car On Nairaland ( For Buyers And Sellers ) by calculusx(m): 8:40am On Jun 01, 2011
globexl:
HEY NAIRALANDERS,
I just wanna  add my wo cents. Some might call it bad belle or whatever else. I have observed that the car market in Nigeria is  greatly saturated and is actually a buyers market. In other words, buyers have the advantage. A lot of cars are actually cheaper in Nija than you would buy them  in USA and Europe after shipping ang clearing charges are added. Yes , I mean what am saying. Lets say you want to buy a 2005-2007 Nisssan Pathfinder for example. Dealers in nija are asking N3.5m on average. The cost in USA is about $12K to $17. Shipping is abt. $1200 to $1500 and clearing is about N400k to N600K.  You do the math. Now consider that if you have , lets say N2.3m cash in hand, I can gurantee that u can get this tokumbo car in Nija with a week or two of searching in Lagos.Yes. Try and see. Just target the car of your dreams, hold abt 60 % to 70% of the average dealer price in hand and then begin searching for your dream vehicle. I gurantee you will find with one to two weeks in Lagos. The reason is simple. There are so so many cars for sale in Nija and not enough buyers that some owners have to wait for six months, 1 yr and even two years to have their cars sold for a reasonable price. At some point, many owners will get frustrated and will need cash for emergencies, projects , debts  and other financial commitments. In such situations , profit become secondary and sellers are willing to sell at cost or even at a  small loss just to get soem cash, This is where you, the buy steps in to create a win win situation for both you and the seller.
I just dont see any reason why anyone would want to buy a tokumbo vehicle abroad, ship it , and clear it and still think he or she got a good deal.
The good deals are in Lagos. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
You are on point. But do you know that 75% of cars in Lagos are either Salvage, Non-repairable {as they call it in USA}, Accident-ed or Odometer roll back? Thats the reason why they are Cheaper than a Clean Title and accident free one will buy from US,shipped and clear. Let me site an example, when i first started this business,i buy clean title/1 owner cars but noticed i don't sell them on-time and some stayed in my lot for 2yrs. I later did my research and got to know the logic behind it but i must tell you some people in Lagos still prefer to buy Clean Title and Accident free Cars, though the price will be a bit higher than what other dealers will offer.
So, its by you studying the market and get what Customer's want. Not all pre-order Cars are more expensive than what they are been sold for in Lagos and one will have the confidence in what s/he is buying. My one cent

I think it would be most effective if somehow Seun could somehow implement a referral/reputation system. Kinda like the 'feedback' on eBay.
This can be exploited, though. So an easy way out could be the mod stickies a thread called "Trusted Auto dealers". In that thread you could have a listing of the trusted dealers on NL and potential buyers can see if they are doing business with known people.

My 2 cents.
I disagree because on this auto section, we have seen people who sang praises of another dealer in the name of getting recognized and getting deals and neither do we know its the same dealer in the mirror posing as the seller/buyer singing praises simultaneously. Nigerians, we are too smart.

I help client procure their desired buy option from Cotonou and get 80% to full payment upfront and i have done tens of deals on NL that has never gone bad.
Thanks to NL,people like us without much capital to stock variegated buy options can still make ends meet.
So upfront payment would still remain in play.

The solution proffered by the moderator is the foundation for all others

"The Only Solution I can see is Collective Responsibility, The Admin and the Moderators alone Cannot Do it, When we see any Advert that looks dodgy Or we Suspect a User with Multiple IDs, Let us Call the Poster to order, We can also Use the Report to Moderator Button to report any Complaints, We all have a duty to Protect and Build this Section"

In addition,Dealers should post verifiable point of contact address on their threads as this goes a long way to prove they have nothing to hide and won't criminally abscond with client's funds.
I concur. In as much as i sell my Cars right from my house, buyers have the confidence of not buying from road side should in case anything goes wrong which I thank GOD no recall has happened.
Also not all the moderators are busy with their own business but 3 moderators can't do it all alone. Its our collective effort to fish out any poster using multiple IDs. More-so, in as much as i don't support fraudulent deals by some scrupulous dealers, let's also blame it on some buyers who look for too good to be true deal as if Cars are picked on the streets in USA and when they get scammed they come here and rake.
Pre-order or no pre-order, it should be buyers beware. Lets still maintain the Status Quo

@Seun: As a graduate in Electronics and Computer Engineering, i believe getting posters with multiple adverts is easy to fishout except if their ips are not logged. I hope that make some sense.

I can't remember when last i was paid in Cash for a Car Purchase. This is simply what i do, irrespective of my customers bank, i operate co-operate account in 3 major banks and if my customer doesn't operate the same bank account with me,i will transfer the money into my aboki's account who operate accounts in about 8 major banks in Nigeria and i get the equivalent back in $$$ which will be credited into my domiciliary account. By doing this, i still go cashless.

In other way round, if I and my customer operate the same account with the same bank, i go cashless by e-transfer or direct deposit into my account in my presence and e-transfer into my aboki's account and get the equivalent back in $$$. For m,going cashless is so simple.
