PoliticsAmaechi Dishes Out Educated Insult To Mama Peace by calmbabadee(op): 5:44pm On Mar 19, 2015
The Director General of All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organization, Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, has taken a swipe at the first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan for not acting like a role model to the women folks.

Dame Jonathan has been making hate speeches at Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential campaigns across the country as well as attacking the personality of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Gen Muhammadu Buhari.

Amaechi made the remark at the Buhari Meets Women programme held at Harbour Point, Victorial Island, Lagos, Thursday morning, describing Mrs Aisha Buhari as an intelligent woman and an epitome of a good wife.

“Mrs Buhari has been going from one state to another campaigning for her husband. A very intelligent woman. Am epitome of a good wife. She has never abuse Mr President or those abusing her husband. She didn’t behave like the first lady.

Speaking further, Amaechi said that the purpose of the event was to bring GMB closer to the women folks so that they can have the opportunity to ask him questions.

“This man that they have been demonised is a human being afterall. He is a man of his words. He is a muslim but accord his christian staffs their rights. He allows them to go to church on Sundays.

“We have extremely brilliant and intelligent women and we appreciate them. The era when women were relegated to the kitchen has gone.

“They have tried all they could but cannot fault GMB. He is not corrupt. He is transparent. PDP cannot fault him on that. No matter what the FG does, there will be no power untill the government at the centre is changed. What they garbage in is what they garbage out,” he said.
PoliticsApc Rank Keeps Swelling by calmbabadee(op): 5:37pm On Mar 19, 2015
Daily Trust reports that the APC candidate was on Thursday adopted by the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) as its presidential candidate for the coming poll slated for March 28.

This was made known in a statement issued in Abuja signed by the party’s outgoing national chairman retired General Bashir Salihu Magashi and acting national chairman, Chief Garshan Benson, after the resolution of the party at its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held today.
Benson while reading the statement said the decision to adopt Buhari was unanimous considering that the PDP led government had ran out of ideas to address challenges facing the nation.
The DPP acting national chairman revealed that the adoption of the former head of state was based on meticulous assessment of the state of the nation by the party.
He said the party decided to adopt the APC presidential candidate considering that the DPP do not have a presidential candidate for the forthcoming election.

“The NEC meeting held on March 19, 2015, at the party’s national headquarters, Abuja resolved to adopt General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the APC as the DPP presidential candidate for the 2015 general elections. The resolution came through a motion moved by Mr. Danila Peter Asuno, chairman Edo State and seconded by Hon. Chima E. Nsirim, chairman Rivers State and there was no opposition. It is our view that the PDP as a party in power for 16 years has ran out of ideas on how to manage the current challenges facing the country, hence serious need for change of leadership,” he said.

When the outgoing national chairman of DPP, Magashi was asked why the delay until nine days to the presidential election, he said he is bowing out of the position to carry out a serious campaign and mobilise support for Buhari.

“In politics, anything can happen within 24 hours let alone nine days. Twenty four hours can make a big deal. We have been talking with Buhari; we have been speaking with the APC,” Magashi said.
The obviously confused DPP had initially endorsed the incumbent President Jonathan as its presidential candidate in the upcoming March 28 elections before suddenly announcing the adoption of Buhari.
President Jonathan on his part had received a huge boost in his presidential campaign, as the Alliance for Democracy (AD) competing at the presidential elections dropped its candidate to pledge allegiance to Jonathan’s presidential bid.

PoliticsPresident Jonathan Gets Another Endorsement by calmbabadee(op): 9:50pm On Mar 18, 2015
With about 10 days to the presidential elections, President Goodluck Jonathan has received another endorsement.

Jonathan has been endorsed for re-election by the Fulani Sociocultural Association Miyatti Allah Kauta (MAYTTI), during their visit to the State House, Abuja.

The group also decorated the President as its “Life Patron”.

The group has endorsed Jonathan for re-election in the March 28 elections.
About a week ago, the Miyatti Allah Kauta had pledged its allegiance to the president, while overlooking his rival, Buhari.

The presidential elections scheduled for March 28 has no fewer than 16 political parties and their candidates vying for the post of President.

However, the battle is between the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) which has incumbent President Jonathan, who is Ijaw, from South-South as its candidate and the All Progressives Congress, which has Muhammadu Buhari, a Fulani, from the Northwest region as its flag bearer.

No one seems to be talking about the other candidates even the media is flooded with reports of Jonathan and Buhari.

PoliticsJega Failed To Respect My Invitation – President, CAN PDP Wing by calmbabadee(op):
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor today revealed how the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega failed to hold a meeting with him.

Oritsejafor who was bitter said that Jega ignored his invitation to the meeting earlier this year due to what some of the close associates of the electoral umpire must have told him.

“Some people have told me that I am too small to meet with him (Jega),” Oritsejafor said.

He disclosed this at the one-day interactive session of key stakeholders in the Nigerian project comprising religious, political organizations and security agencies organized by think Nigeria Christian-Muslim movement with the theme: ‘towards a peaceful and purposeful political transition in 2015.’

Oritsejafor said: “The General Secretary of CAN has the INEC Chairman’s number. He sent him a text saying the CAN President wants to meet with you. The INEC chairman text back saying those days were not good so Jega gave us two days to chose from and we chose one and he (Jega) accepted. I do not live in Abuja, I live in Warri, and so I have to make my plans to come here. All my plans were made and just as I was ready to come to Abuja my General Secretary contacted me again that the INEC chairman (Jega) said he cannot meet with us that he is too busy.

“Till today I don’t have access to the INEC Chairman. I could not meet this man. We wanted to discuss things bordering us with him. We want to give him some solutions, suggestions but that was it. No new date for us to meet with him. So this is a problem that is why I am saying this now publicly. This happened a little less than two months ago.

“INEC is a necessary organization that every nation must have. I am concerned about two things. One is on the issue of the Permanent Voters Cards (PVC). I have had it said several times that there are many Nigerians who are refusing to collect their PVC. I beg to disagree on this because I sample this and the church I pastor in Warri with about 35 thousand people and I asked to show me there PVCs and I was shocked, I tell you probably close to half of my congregation do not have their PVC.

“I sent my pastors over 100 of them out to meet them and find out why this is so.

“I think one of the things INEC can do is to publish the PVCs that they have quickly, so that Nigerians can easily locate them or pass information on it to each other, so that one can go there to collect it. I am not saying this will solve all the problems but it will go a long way to solve the problem. We charge INEC to please make sure that everyone of those Card Readers work. They should work, they must work.”

Oritsejafor asked the Christian and Muslim leaders to sign a peace pact so the election could be succesful.

This pact would ensure that Christians and Muslims are safe before, during and after the general elections.

He said: “If we are going to have a successful election there must be confidence building. And one of the things that will build confidence is that Christians and Muslims must resolve that we will protect each other.

“Let Christians who live in predominantly Muslim areas not be afraid to remain there. Many are running away. They shouldn’t. After all they are Nigerians. And our Muslim brothers must make a commitment to say Christians will not be killed in predominantly Muslims areas while Christians should also say Muslims who live in their area will not be killed.

“We must make that commitment to each other. And we must make it publicly. Let the nation know that nobody is going to be victimized based on his or her religion. Everyone must and should be free to go out and vote freely believing that who they are voting for will help them. That is what democracy is all about. Many of us here today are preachers; some are politicians and others. But the most important ones are the preachers because if you are politicians you will either go to the church or the mosque.

“The preachers here must also make a commitment to go to the churches and to the Mosques to begin to preach that Christians are save everywhere and Muslims are save everywhere and we must begin to teach our people to believe in Nigeria. We must begin to emphasize to our people that we are all Nigerians.”

He advised leaders of both religions that: “We must begin to tell our leaders, our followers to begin to think Nigeria. Nobody is superior to the other.”

Oritsejafor begged the Nigerian audience to pray for the army as they fight against Boko Haram.

PoliticsFani-kayode’s Might Be Re-arrested by calmbabadee(op): 7:42pm On Mar 17, 2015
The Director of Media and Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode might be arrested if he fails to find a surety.

One of the sureties who applied to grant the statesman freedom has re applied to the court saying he can’t guarantee the defendant’s temporary freedom.

The surety, Wale Ajisebutu said the reason for his withdrawal was because he urgently has to make use of his Certificate of Occupancy (CofO). This was one of the items he deposited as a condition for Fani-Kayode bail.

The judge will now consider his application and the defence team has requested for another date.

The hearing for hearing of the surety’s application and continuation of trial has been moved to March 26th.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which charged Fani-Kayode, accused his witness of lying to the court during the last hearing.

EFCC’s lawyer Mr. Festus Keyamo, while cross-examining the witness, Aderemi Ajidaun, accused him of being in court to “help” his friend and was not telling the truth.

This is because his evidence ‎contradicted Agbaje’s earlier testimony that it was Fani-Kayode who personally gave him the cash to pay into his account.

“Agbaje never had direct access to Fani-Kayode and could not have collected cash from him. Every staff had to pass through me to reach the honourable minister,” Ajidaun said.

Keyamo asked on trial: “Will it surprise you that Mr Agbaje came to this court and never mentioned you?” Ajidaun replied: “I’ll be very surprised.”
Keyamo said: “Agbaje said the accused person (Fani-Kayode) gave him the money. It means that between the two of you, someone is telling, this court a lie.”

Fani Kayode was accused of transacting over N500, 000 on September 20, 2006, which was not done through a financial institution, by accepting N2.1 million in cash.

The prosecution said that the funds was then put into his personal bank account by his aide, Supo Agbaje, while he served as Minister of Culture and Tourism. He pleaded not guilty.

PoliticsPatience Is A Comedian by calmbabadee(op): 7:24pm On Mar 17, 2015
The Ekiti state chapter of the All Progressives Congress has described yesterday’s visit by Nigeria’s first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan to the state as a “mere entertainment and comical show”.
The opposition party opined that Mrs. Jonathan only showcased her theatrics prowess instead of focusing on issue-based campaign to list her husband’s achievements in Ekiti in the last four years and outline what his plans for the state are if he wins.
The party also advised the First Lady to take a cue from the wife of its presidential candidate, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, who the party said has shown class and panache in her campaign engagements, giving hope to Nigerians for a serious and purposeful leadership ‎that will take Nigeria back on track of development.
In a statement on Tuesday by its Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, the party said the First Lady only came to Ekiti state to entertain the indigenes.
According to him: “Throughout her speech, she manifested an image of a village masquerade providing a momentary comic relief to a poverty ravaged community not in a hurry for socio-economic salvation.
“You would have thought that the First Lady would list her husband’s achievements in Ekiti State and then give the people some hope that her husband would build upon those achievements.
“But she engaged in a duet with her host and soul mate, Governor Ayo Fayose, in an empty campaign comedy to a thoroughly dazed enlightened Ekiti people.
“It was a perfect duet by two comedians that one does not need any counsel‎ that Nigeria must be rescued from the captivity of the costumed ‘people of power’ without responsibility.”
He also condemned the frequent verbal attacks by the first lady on APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari.

He said: “She was consistently painting Buhari as a man that would herd Nigerians into jail without committing any crime whereas Buhari only insisted that criminals during his coming administration would go to jail.
“She said she was not ready to prepare food for Fayose in jail‎. Inadvertently, Mrs. Jonathan was telling Nigerians ‎that Fayose is a candidate for the prison if Buhari wins.”
He stressed that Ekiti people had made up their minds to vote Buhari, because according to him, they had become wiser and would not vote a regime that did not hold any promise for their future.
The first lady had said in the rally that she is not ready to carry food for her husband in prison.
