A fruitful New Month to our esteemed readers Here.. Our Morning Catch Updates for Tuesday September 1st, 2020. 07:30AM #campuscatchofficial • #schoolsreopening:Students under the aegis of National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), through its senate president Comr. Dio Oghale Rex, has reaffirmed via a LIVE radio interview yesterday in delta state, that the decision to protest to Nigeria international airports should the federal government fail to announce a general Resumption date before September 5 still stands. Campus Catch NG had earlier informed the general public particularly the students that there was a shift of date of the proposed August29 national protest across the six geopolitical zones of the federation in all international airports nationwide as a result of the postponement of the commencement date for international flights. • Despite the National Universities Commission (NUC) asking the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to prepare for resumption according to COVID-19 safety protocols, the union has raised an alarm that public tertiary institions are not ready. In addition, it also called on the Federal Government to implement the 2019 Memorandum of Action (MoA) it signed with the union. • Students who tested positive for COVID-19 during the ongoing 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination have returned to classes after treatment and discharge. According to the the Minister of State for Education, Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, at the 62nd Joint National Briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 yesterday in Abuja, "We have confirmed that all of them are back to class. They have all been discharged. We do not have any further cases. “There were four in Gombe, there was one in Kwara and there were few in Bayelsa, but those of them have been discharged as they all tested negative." • #schoolsreopening : The Ministry of Education says it has received feedback from all Universities on their states of preparedness and all have been tabled before the PTF. Revelations partaining reopening of tertiary institutions in the federal level will be made when the current phase of lockdown ease elapses on Saturday. • The management of the Lagos State University LASU, says students in 400, 500 and 600 levels in the institution will resume for a period of two months from Sept 14 before other levels would follow. • The Chairman of First Bank, Dr Ibukun Awosika, is set to appear on the soon to be released movie, Citation, by Nigerian actor and movie director, Kunle Afolayan. It was gathered that the movie tackles the ordeals faced by female students in Nigerian Universities and it aims at propelling women to become great leaders.
