It's high time you all move these back and forth diatribes to the sister threads on Express Entry and Canada Student Visa. Moderator should please delete any post not related to "living in Canada" here.

thank you.

I didnt want to assume the POF calculated the actual fund requirement.

You know how you can get somewhere and suddenly the expenses are x2 of what you estimated cos you did not research well
The POF estimate is pretty accurate. While the PoF figure is 6,350, depending on your lifestyle, you could spend between 4,000 and 7,000.

jesusbaby01:
well if single get a shared accomodation or a basement say 750/month, register for low income bus pass $35/month I believe, Feeding should be around $150 plus groceries if you cook. So just factor in 3500 but don't wait for 3 months before getting a job. change that mindset that you'd get a job within 1 month so you just don't stay at home after landing doing nothing cos you gave yourself a 3 month mark. You get my drift?
Good estimate but you forgot to add clothing expenses, phone call/data plan, initial Airbnb and Uber etc

Hello everyone,

This thread has been so informative.

Please for one person, how much on average do you need to take with you to Canada (Calgary).

I am estimating not getting a job for about 3 months so I would like to know how much I'll need to survive for that period.

Thanks
Your POF is meant to serve you for 6 months. Maybe half of that for 3 months.

So potholes are still sending Osun people to untimely deaths despite the billions indebtedness for infrastructure by Aregbesola the immediate past governor of the state. And this corrupt Islamist has just been rewarded with a federal portfolio? God have mercy on Nigeria.

Please and please,never ever tell anyone abroad your kids have Malaria,they see it as someone with Ebola.
Worst part,you telling a Doctor,they will immediately isolate the patient to a particular room.
You can imagine that kind of experience.
Can you please share your experience that made you reach this conclusion?

For anyone expecting VFS to send you a message "your passport is ready for pick up" you go wait tire! Instead you'll get "your processed passport has been dispatched from the Canada Visa Office". See attachment.

Good morning to the elders in the house. Please I want a clarification on the following questions:
1: Is it only family members (father ,brother or friend) that can give someone gift deed as a proof of funds?.
Yes. See attachment.

2: Which one is more better to use for proof of funds, savings or current account due to minimum balance quoted by some banks?
Savings. You would want an account that yields some sort of interest until you get PPR

3: Will someone remove out of the proof of funds as cash at hand on the day when he/ she is traveling to Canada?.
Yes

Thanks for kind response

I empathize with you. You don't need to read the whole over 800 pages. Just read the first 10 pages on this link and you're good to go. It's that simple. You may also download CanPR on playstore to guide you on the process.
Finally, this thread is for information on living in Canada, you can ask all questions relating to visa application processing on the other sister threads.

Landing gist
One week old in Calgary today
Family of 5
We flew Lufthansa from ph to Abj,weather was so bad and we experienced turbulence all the way to Abj.flight from abj to frankfurt wasn’t bad,they kids slept all through,we had 8hrs layover at frankfurt,it wasn’t funny at all,we finally left for YYC,inflight was just there,didn’t eat any of the meal,they kids too rejected,thank God i packed their cereals
We finally landed and went through immigration,no agricultural check, came out and a friend was there to pick us up,my hubby had to follow the car carrying our luggage,we went straight to our apartment,we were able to get a 3 bedroom before arrival,best decision ever..
After 2 days the kids fell ill,cough,catarrh,fever and vomiting,it has been really tough for us,thank God for the few medications i brought from naija,fever is gone now but they are still coughing,last night i came down with serious fever up until this morning,i hope we pull through this phase asap
Thank God for journey mercy. The bold is part of the acclimatisation process. Even more tough on kids who have never traveled that far from home. Take time to rest dear and you'll all settle in quickly within a week.

Its possible, but I would suggest getting a short stay for maybe 2-3 weeks and understand which area works for you. Some films regret where they stay especially if their place of work is far from the house. Some can't wait to leave downtown apartments, but have to wait till their lease is over. But who knows...you might love the place too! Try signing a short lease of 6 months just in case
I've booked an Airbnb for 3 weeks. Let's see how it goes from there.

In view of the above, and in an attempt to unravel the circumstances surrounding the entire transaction, the Attorney - General of the Federation , with the approval of Mr President , has requested the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission , the National Intelligence Agency and the Inspector -General of Police to conduct a thorough investigation into the company , the circumstances surrounding the agreement and the subsequent event, which includes commencing a full-scale criminal investigation
Is this not the first thing they should have done before breaching their contract with the foreign firm? Useless, clueless government. What do you expect from a government with majority appointment based on nepotism, tribalism and religious affiliation? Thank God I'm on my way to Canada.

An interesting read. I read the full article here. The mere fact that people don't want to talk about the caste system in Igbo land and the resulting stigmatisation, discrimination and hate are the more reason to believe there will never be a reconciliation. Our people wrongly believe this is culture. No it's not, it's evil.

Good people, especially those who have recently paid for credential evaluation or application fees online.

Kindly confirm bank with best exchange rate for payment in CAD. Definitely not Zenith and GTBank, their rate appears to be the highest.

Good morning fam!!

Please I need clarification in this area ..

Work experience is spaced
January 2013 - March 2014
March 2014 - January 2015 (in-between jobs)
January 2015 - December 2017...

Do you think it’ll fly with this gap??
Leave no gap.

dalobaba:
Hello,

Thanks for being here. I want to start the Canada Express Entry process and I have a burning question to ask. I heard America embassy shares information with Canada Embassy and I will like to know where I stand before proceeding.

About 3 years ago I was denied a US visa. In the application, I claimed I was married. My bad! (I was single and i’m still single). I want to know if I won’t have any issue with proceeding with Canada Express Entry as a single. I’m so qualified for the Canada Express Entry, this is the only thing holding me back for now. Please clarify. All the best
This is a typical misrepresentation by Nigerian applicants, lying unnecessarily to secure visit visas without thinking about the repercussions. Read about the Sudanese 30 year old with contradictory date of birth in his USA and Canada immigration history. To be clear, this is what documents fraud and misrepresentation look like:

Document fraud can involve either false or altered documents, such as:
-passports and travel documents;
-visas;
-diplomas, degrees, and apprenticeship or trade papers;
-birth, marriage, final divorce, annulment, separation or death certificates; and
-police certificates.
If an individual lies on an application or in an interview with an IRCC officer, this is also fraud and a crime.

If an individual sends false documents or information, IRCC will refuse the application. The individual could also:

-be forbidden to enter Canada for at least five years;
-have a permanent record of fraud with IRCC;
-have his or her status as a permanent resident or Canadian citizen taken away (if applicable);
-be charged with a crime; or
-be removed from Canada

So, what should you do? You have 4 choices:

One, do not apply ever.

Two, wait for 10 years data retention in USA to pass before you apply to Canada.

Third, apply now but do not mention previous refusal. Your application might be successful but you should not sleep on it, IRCC might be waiting for you at the time you apply for your citizenship, when you travel to USA and information is shared with Canada or when you eventualy marry and want to sponsor your spouse or other family members from Nigeria.

Last option is to indicate previous visa refusal in the questionnaire and then write a letter of explanation about your previous misrepresentation. Hopefully your application will be successful and you won't have to look over your shoulders.

It's baffling though how 8/7/7/7 seems better than 9/9/9/6.5
One is a well rounded score, the other is handicap. Think of 8777 as a soldier who is fit as fiddle with more than average skills to match, and 999/6.5 as a soldier who is better than everyone else in almost all aspects but he's one legged.

This is wonderful. I’m so excited. Yea, we did it! This is also my victory. Getting a 7.0 with a 3-day coaching, let’s now wait for the last exam for which I coached you for a week. You may even get a 7.5. Congrats once again. I’m here to liberate people from the shackles of IELTS writing, wink and it feels good achieving that.

I’m glad for the bolded statement in your comment. Anyone coming to me, please format your brain as regards IELTS writing. I once had a student who was constantly arguing with me in our reviews, and he was constantly making the errors I told him not to make. Anyway, he left, but I pray he gets his desired Writing score wherever he sought help from.

So, Daybour1, have a lovely day. Celebrate! This is a huge feat. With the CRS score you told me you now stand at, I know you will get an ITA in the next draw or in 2 further draws. You are already in Canada as far as I am concerned. Now unto my next candidate for a breakthrough testimony here.
Yes, it's your victory. Congrats.

I would be the most ungrateful being if I didn't share my story here. This is not PPR (at least not yet), but I just conquered IELTS on the 10th attempt, still awaiting result of the 11th and a remark of my 9th. First of all, my ultimate gratitude goes to God Almighty for giving me the resilience to fight though these trying times.

My first IELTS test was April 21 2018, and I wrote back to back on a monthly basis until 23rd May 2019 (the game changer). Months I didn't write, I was hoping for a positive EOR, none ever came back changed. Allow me to state that, the 6.5 in writing was my major hurdle. I have sought help tirelessly on this thread but it was the same story. I eventually stopped practicing for other components again because I knew all the questions and answers in my head already, I mean, after studying almost every day of your life for over 12 months, there was nothing new to learn.

To be brief, my last resort was to contact @JohnnyBravo just 3 days to the test of 23rd May. I ensured I unlearned everything I had learnt about writing and strictly followed his teachings. I'm sincerely grateful to you for your attention and professionalism, God bless you endlessly. For all who are still stuck with writing, please let him guide you. Thank you again bro.

In conclusion, (sorry o but after taking the writing test for over 12 months, my writing has been structured into 4 BPs) while it is not easy, I'd like to encourage anyone struggling with any aspect of this journey not to give up. There's joy in knowing you eventually conquered. I'm positioned for an ITA in the coming draws and may The Good Lord make the rest of the journey smooth for us. Amen.
You write too well to have been stuck at 6.5 for over a year. I also noticed your structure is exactly the same as that of JohnnyBravo1990, you definitely learnt a lot from him within 3/7 days.
