Just ignore that 13.9v that appears immediately and continue charging it. Just ensure whatever charging indicator continues to show that it's still charging even if it's showing 13.9v.

it's just the LCD displaying the current voltage it's getting which is obviously from the charger. That's mostly how such chargers behave because they are connected parallel to the battery.

I've used that battery for over a month charging my phone before trying to recharge it now
of course assuming the battery was very low, it wouldn't jump like that BUT since it's 12.8v, that's almost full and depending on settings, tat could be float stage sef
