Total solar panels 4 of 270w each=1,080w. Batteries- 2 of 220ah each= 440ah. Are the solar panels enough/sufficient for the batteries? Or do I need to add more solar panels ? I have two different technicians arguing here. Experts should please help me out. Thanks |

bixton: The Op says he will do a parapet(concrete fascia). Every parapet(concreted fascia) is connected/linked to a beam. It's that beam that holds the parapet in place because it's placed at an inclined position.
In the instance where the client does not need a parapet, I do not insist to do a roof beam where I already have a full chained lintel(internal and external).
But there are certain jobs that all the above is requested as part of the working schedule. By so it's paramount the schedule is followed completely to avoid penalty or withdrawal of contract by the client. WHAT ARE THE NUMEROUS ADVANTAGES OF FULL ROUND CHAIN LINTEL SIR? |

IF THERE IS GOOD REASON TO DO IT, THEN I WILL SURELY DO IT. OTHERWISE WHY DO IT AND WASTE MONEY? |

Gratefulheart1: The answer is very obvious buddy, you don't even need to be an expert to know this.
Why would someone do chain-lintel round a building and still do another roof beam round it again? And yet it's just a bungalow? Even if it's a duplex or storey building, since there would be round-beam beneath the slab/decking eventually, only a drunk would do chain-lintel round again. Lintel is only used to bear wall loads coming on top of the window/door frame area or openings, nothing more. Assuming it's a building with high-level windows, there won't be need for any lintel, because the slab beam would also serve as the lintel. The fake Engineer even told you to do chain-lintel on internal walls too. Lol. That's ridiculously hilarious. He should have even told you to use concrete to build all the house instead of blocks. Run from that Engineer. THANK YOU SIR. GOD BLESS YOU SIR. BUT SIR, ARE YOU A STRUCTURAL ENGINEER? |

NwaAmaikpe:

Technically a lintel is supposed to go round the structure because it serves as a 'chain'. Thanks sir. So what happens if it does not ? Also considering we are doing roof beam round the whole house ? |

GOOD DAY. I AM CURRENTLY BUILDING A 5 BEDROOM BUNGALOW AND I AM ABOUT TO DO LINTEL. I HAVE CONTRASTING OPINIONS FROM TWO DIFFERENT ENGINEERS.
ENGINEER A- NO NEED FOR LINTEL TO GO ROUND THE BUILDING, JUST AT WINDOWS AND DOORS ONLY. YOU DID SOLID FOUNDATION AND USED 9 INCH BLOCKS ALL THROUGH. WE WILL DO ROOF BEAM ROUND THE WHOLE HOUSE (EXTERNAL WALLS ONLY) AT PARAPET AND THERE WONT BE CRACKS IN THE FUTURE.
ENGINEER B- DO LINTEL ROUND THE WHOLE BUILDING INCLUDING INTERNAL WALLS. YOU WILL ALSO DO ROOM BEAM ROUND WHOLE HOUSE AT PARAPET TO AVOID CRACKS IN THE FUTURE.
PLEASE WHAT DO I DO ? BUILDING IS A BUNGALOW AND HAS PILLARS. |

Mekenz: well what he says is right, but as a builder myself, since it's just a bungalow with a concrete facia , what you just need to do is run lintels at the external walls only, and you can as well put pillars at the four corners of the building only, because of the parapet. No need for other reinforcements. Your building will still stand strong.
NB: I'm saying all these considering your budget, but if wish you can go and put beams and pillars all over your building, no problems. Thanks |
Properties › Re: Can I Build A 5-bedroom House With Pillars But No Horizontal Beam ? by capsogiga(op): 5:15pm On Apr 18, 2021 |
Mekenz: yeah lintel, is good you understand my point, to save cost, just run lintel at the external walls only, then only on doors areas internally. Thanks. My thoughts exactly. But engineer says lintel is different from horizontal beam ! He sent the picture below. In fact now I am confused. I can't afford to run horizontal beams on all ways, both internally and externally. To the engineer I have two options. 1. Columns + horizontal beams. 2. No columns, no horizontal beam since it is only a bungalow with parapet. Meanwhile, people are telling me I should not build a 5 bedroom house without pillars/ columns!

Mekenz: It depends on your pocket and the nature of the soil, if it's a dry and level land, and you're not planning to do concrete facia (aka parapet) on the building,
the best you can just do, is to chain all the external walls together, you can use 10mm rod to save cost, then just put horizontal beams at doors areas internally, pillars at the four corners of the building is not necessary, since it's just a bungalow. With these your building will still stand strong. How do I chain all the external walls together? |

MRFIXER001: A bungalow doesn't need a column if the land has a good bearing capacity. Beam is inevitable, if you decided not to do foundation or roof beam what about lintel beam? One of the main purpose of foundation and roof beam is to prevent the expansion of cracks, but on some cases (if the land is good, good construction practice and purse of the client), people don't use it Thanks.
