I have never experienced racism or segregation in any country that I have been to like I have in Nigeria. Just like Justwise rightly said, home is where we make it to be. Some times we find that, we are closer to friends than members of our family, that is because we chose our friends, we didn't choose our family though we love them anyway. When you choose a country as your home and the country in turn chooses you(Oh stubborn Canada, when are you going to choose me back! lol), we can end up loving that country even more than our country of birth and there is absolutely nothing wrong in that. When some persons say they will never come back to Nigeria after they leave, please give them a break, they are just been overly dramatic, probably because of their present circumstance(s) and don't truly mean it. Pardon my sermon please; The Bible says, if your left hand causes you to sin, chop it off, what is wrong in cutting off Nigeria to live in a place where hard work is appreciated? |
Please what is the best site to use for GCMS? Can GT Bank Naira Debit Card pay for it? Thank you. |
maziude:Exactly a week after submission of my application, I was rejected on the ground of status in country of residence despite stating expressly in my document and sop that I am not resident in the uk and attaching a copy of my visa page which is valid until next year. I went further by attaching a scanned copy of my return ticket. I still like to know the reason for my the refusal besides the generic one stated in the letter, thus I might apply for a gcms. Any one with a link on how to apply for it? I will reapply upon my return to Nigeria since my resumption date is in January. Glad I undertook this adventure of discovery, this issue is not officially put to bed. Be advised, apply in the visa office recommended for your region. Yours sincerely, Sacrificial Lamb. |
LIST OF trv hopefuls (SUMMER & FALL 2017) Captain Canny July 12th, York University. Paper Route. |
mesh2003:I submitted yesterday at Vfs Global, London office and my biometric taken and none of the issues you raised here were highlighted to me. Thank you anyway for your concern. Like I said in my earlier post, I resume in January so this is just a case study for me. If it works fine, if it doesn't, I will submit another application upon my return to my beloved country. It will interest some persons to know somethings I observed at the office yesterday. 1. A vast majority of the people who submitted their application yesterday were foreign nationals like me and some were on visitor visa(The office isn't large as that in Lagos so you can overhear conversations, also they endeavor to speak audibly and precise as possible so applicants don't have cause for a misrepresentation law suit ). 2. If you are applying for study permit or a visitor visa and you have limited time to resumption or the purpose of your visit, you are advised to attach a cover letter to your application, detailing the reason why your application should be handled with urgency. 3. I was informed that despite the processing time on IRCC site stating two weeks presently for the UK, it could take three days or even four weeks but a maximum of six weeks for those who are applying outside the visa office of their region. The vfs staff issued a disclaimer informing me that, it is only his personal observation from his time on the job that he advised me and not as an agent/staff of vfs. @jnuyuwa02, take note of number two. |
tuzinde:Congrat Tuzinde, glad it ended in celebration because I always wonder why your application is yet to be updated whenever the list of trv hopefuls is updated. . You will have more reasons to celebrate. Please share your full profile. Thank you. |
jnyuwa02:Yes I am in London on a visiting visa. I will update the house as event unfolds, good or bad. Thank you. |
jnyuwa02:I will be the sacrificial lamb for us all to learn. It is a grey area and I 'Christopher Akpos Columbus' will explore and write on the blank sheet. I will be applying from Vfs Office in London tomorrow. I resume January 2nd, so for me the gain surpasses the loss and we get to put this contentious issue to rest for eternity. Your humble, Sacrificial Lamb. |

Austinpee4:By technicalities, I was referring to the mistake some persons make that leads to 'Immigration Status in Country of residence'. When filling out Question 7 in the personal information form, some persons applying with status of a visitor err in responding to the said Question. Question 7 Choose the correct information: The name of the country you live in , if you have been lawfully admitted to that country. Your immigration status in that country (choose one of the following): Citizen Permanent resident Visitor Worker Student Other Protected Person Refugee Claimant Other: You must fill out this section if you chose “Other” as a status. The dates (From – To) you have been living in your country of residence. The response should be Nigeria and the status:citizen but they make the mistake of inputting the country they are visiting and their status there. Thus, 'Immigration Status in Country of Residence'. It is Question 9 that addresses where you are applying from. Question 9 Check the box to tell us if you are applying from the country you live in. If you checked “No”, choose the correct information: The name of the country where you are applying from, Your immigration status in that country by choosing one of the following: Citizen Permanent resident Visitor Worker Student Other Protected Person Refugee Claimant Other: You must fill out this section if you chose “Other” as a status. The dates (From – To) that you have been living in that country. If you are not a citizen of the country where you are applying, you must send proof of your legal status in the country you live in when you submit your application. That was one of the 'technicalities' I was referencing in my earlier post of possibility of applying from 'Cameroon' or 'Cameroun'. Thank you. |
jnyuwa02:I have raised up this issue before you, it was about a friend had intention to apply from the UK just like you have intention to apply from Cameroon to exploit the 3 weeks lee way. I was told to advice my friend against it that it is not possible. @Austinpee4 said it will be rejected on the ground of status of country applying from and that if my friend insist, he should proceed with it at his own cost. I gave my friend the advice exactly as the honorable members of this forum who were willing and able to comment on it shared. I told him that it is his decision to made, my friend quietly returned back to Nigeria to apply. I am really glad you brought it up because this is a grey area. I did not let the issue rest, I did extensive research on it and my findings show that it is possible but technical. Among the forms you will fill, one of the questions is what it your status in the country that you are applying from and "Visitor" is one of the option. If it is not possible for a visitor to apply, it will not be stated there as an option. The catch is this, you have to have an address in the country where you are applying from(You can use the address of family or friends). Also, one of the questions in the form you will fill will ask for your country of residence, state your country of residence as NIGERIA and not Cameroon(This is one of the reasons many people get rejected on the basis of legal status in country of residence.) Further, you should add a photocopy of your visa page which shows you are a legal TEMPORARY RESIDENT(Note: Ignore anyone that tells you that a visitor has no status, that is ignorance, look at what is written on your old visa page or current visa page of any country you have visited then tell me I am wrong ) to your application. The visa has to be valid and it needs to have sufficient time on it within which your application for Canadian Study Permit will be decided otherwise you will get rejected on legal status on country you are applying from. I beg you to take your time to go through the forum of International students on canadavisa.com, after a painstaking search, you will see accounts of visitors that applied for study permit from outside their country of residence. Most of them applied while on US tourist visa and some others on Canada tourist visas. The ones that applied from Canada could not do it because study permit for most has to be made outside of Canada, so they exploited the loopholes in the law by sending their applications to the LA office of Canadian VAC(they went for biometrics when called upon) which handles study permits. The ones that stated country of residence as Canada got rejected on the ground of Status in Country of residence. The ones who understood the technicalities got their application approved. They had to leave Canada and flew back in so they could get their study permit at point of entry. My advise to you is; if you can overcome the technicalities and you have strong ties to your home country, you can proceed to Cameroon. Also you can explain your status and reason for applying in Cameroon in your SOP(An sop takes the place of a physical interview, say whatever you know will help your case in your sop but it should be formal like an interview.Emphasis on your legal status in the sop to the VO Your application should leave no unanswered question in the mind of the VO, use your sop to address it without repetition like MichV always say.) Also remember to get your police report from Nigeria. DISCLAIMER: I am a prospective applicant waiting for admission response. Advise given are from my research on this site and elsewhere. I have not successfully done this neither do I know any one personally who have other than those who shared their experience on canadavisa.com When I eventually get my admission I will apply outside Nigeria. History has always smiled at brave explorers. |
Today makes it the 18th working day since I applied for a standard visitor's visa. I called the customer care for the Sheffield's Visa Office Friday, I was informed a decision has been made but yet to see an update on TLS site that a decision has been made or it is available for collection. It seems transmission between the visa office and TLS Victoria Island office is slow. 2015 when I last applied(Via TLS Abuja Office) for same visa type and secured it, it wasn't this sluggish, had enough time to purchase a plane ticket for a favorable amount. |
I sincerely appreciate everyone who has shared their opinion here.@judebebo32, @Austinpee4, @Justwise,@OluwaCanny,@LightandDarkness and others. I read all your comments and I saw good rationality in it. Amongst your comments, some words in it made me redefine my search word on google and I got what I have never gotten before. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5269ETOC.asp. It is a link to a guide on the for filling of cic form. This is what Question 9 states: Check the box to tell us if you are applying from the country you live in. How can that be reconciled to my friend not being eligible to apply for a study permit from the UK? P.S I am only trying to come to terms with your opinions to enable me make an informed decision when I eventually want to apply. I respect everyone's opinion. We are all learners and will learn even until our last breath. Thank you. justwise: |
Please I will like to know the reason behind your assertion that my friend can't apply for a Canadian Study Permit while on a tourist visa in the Uk? To shed more light to his situation, he already got a police certificate from Nigeria and he communicated with Vfs UK about it and they said so long he has a residential address in the Uk, he told them he will be using his friend's(Host) residential address and they said that is fine. The only question they could not respond to was the issue of using a medical done from IOM in Nigeria since the UK has its own accredited physicians and that was the reason for my initial query which I will really appreciate gurus and anyone in the house with knowledge to share. @Justwise, @Ausinepee @MichV @Mikymiko. Thank you. LightandDarkness: |
Congratulation to you, wishing you the very best as you embark on this new journey. Please I will like to ascertain the position for someone applying from the UK, can he make use of a medical that he did in IOM Nigeria. P.S. presently in the UK on a tourist visa and hope to apply next week. Thank you. judebebo32: |
