The function of midfielders is not only to link the defence to the attack. When you have natural midfielders they understand all their roles not only with the ball but without it, your average defence will even look good.

Let me give you an instance against Arsenal. Odegard was free to score that winning goal because no midfielder tracked his run. While the ball was in Tzolis legs a natural midfielder say Caicedo. would have scanned his area and smelt the danger in a free Odegard dashing into the box. Though very late, Declan Rice smelt danger in Rogers run and impeded him at our end. In fact, Enzo intercepted a pass to Fernandes at Old trafford on Sunday by tracking his run.

The point I am making here is, you can’t come and shout about defence when your midfielders are not on the field. We sold Enzo and failed to replace him and our main ball winner in the middle is injured. A major function of the midfield is to shield the defence. Without Rice and Guimaraes, that Arsenal defence will be exposed and concede heavily against a prolific attack.

If Caicedo returns and we get another midfielder by January, Timbros and his gang will now say Alonso has done what they clamored for. We know their antics but we will expose it early.

You obviously don't know what "balance" mean in this context.

A balanced team concedes less and scores more. Simple.

Your chances of outscoring your opponents when you concede loads of goals per match is very very low... But you have higher chance of outscoring your opponent when you keep clean sheets... How is that hard to understand?

Keep it tight at the back, score one or two goals and you have outscore your opponent. But when you concede 2 to 3 goals per match, it's difficult for you to outscore with 4 or more goals.

You can't win the league by conceding 70 to 90 goals.

Balance is the key. Concede less, score more.

General Ibrahim Babangida's era remains one of the most thoroughly debated periods in our national history. From structural changes like state creation and federal capital development to key economic policies, his administration's decisions undoubtedly shaped modern Nigeria's framework. It is interesting to see the current leadership acknowledge that legacy as the elder statesman marks his 85th birthday. Ultimately, history will continue to analyze the diverse impacts of our past leaders on our current national journey.

I hope your prayers doesn't get answered cause if it does, the girls are out.

Assuming we draw Zambia and Malawi goes on to draw their last 2 games, then the table will look like this.

Zambia 5pts
Malawi 5pts
Nigeria 4pts
Egypt 1 PT

The only outcome the falcons need on Saturday is an outright win and I'm pretty confident they can get that result should they do what's necessary.

Zambia is not a team the falcons can't beat on any given occasion and Saturday won't be an exception. The added pressure of knowing they need all the 3 points may make it a bit more difficult but let's just hope for the best.

I really do hope that the Zambians do the most stupid thing and come out to play instead of setting up to defend like I'd expect they do.

So na Ghana Cameroon we go meet if we qualify for KO. We can't finish top again saidly. So we settle for 2nd.

Cos if we win Zambia and Egypt, Malawi will take at least 4points from the two so they'll most likely top the group with 7 and us with 6.

If zambia shock Malawi and lose to Falcons, h2h and GD plays.

If we finish 1st we go jam Ghana/Cameroon

I stand to be corrected.
I don't see us beating Zambia and if we manage to draw. Let's pray Malawi draw their two matches or else its au revoir to brazil

i feel the super eagles were overrated in the 90s considering how they fared against their opponents. If you look at USA 94 they had all the time and space to eliminate italy but inexperience cost them. France 98, they beat Bulgaria and Spain and lost scandalously to Denmark and Paraguay. Not forgotten their humiliation by holland in the pre tournament friendly. It got into their head. They were looking forward to playing Brazil with the mindset Denmark was walkover. Meanwhile they had a very porous defence conceding goals with reckless abandon

The 2013 Afcon triumph blinded so many coupled with 2014 World Cup qualification and making it to the second round but when the luck ran out of him we all knew how it ended as Elegbete said it cost us not qualifying for back to back afcons in the history of Nigerian football

Many of you tag not qualifying for the last 2 editions of the World Cup disgraceful but turning blind eye to the team’s inability to qualify for back to back afcons (2015 and 2017 editions)
yes, the way ameobi, Michael babatunde walked straight into the national team without prior international experience made me suspect him. Meanwhile Ike Uche that scored 13 goals in Laliga didn't make the cut. They had to beg him to include odemwingie in the world cup squad. No wonder etim esin accused him of influencing westerhoff selections for USA 94 leaving Nduka Ugbade regretting not making the cut to the US when he was left out

Messi definitely is up there. No way I enjoyed all Messi did and achieved in football and have him outside the top 3. That would be very dishonest and untruthful of me. But that is it... he sits at #3 with C.Ronaldo close on his heels in #4. Infact some would have both at Joint #3 and I wont really argue it.

Trust CR7 fanboys to reopen another round of debates once Ronaldo hits 1000 goals. They wont come for Messi alone. They will come for Pele's 1,283 goals record. Lol
dont ever put cr7 in top 3 again

🚨🇵🇹 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly expected to retire from international football after Portugal’s Nations League match against Wales on September 24.

The game is set to be played at Sporting’s José Alvalade Stadium and could be Ronaldo’s final appearance for Portugal.

He currently has 233 caps and 146 goals for his country.

Personal tot: C.Ronaldo retiring does not mean CR7 fans will rest. They just wont rest. The race to 1000 goals is there and once he reaches that milestone, another serious round of debates will appear.... as usual.😂😂
With that said, I do miss the CR7-Messi10 Prime Era. I enjoyed it so much but in this sport, no one plays forever. Adios Legends.

Pep will faill with those three teams. He is a experimental perfectionist. With no plan B in his manual. It was why he was he beaten black and blue in his last two seasons in England because teams were able to bypass style of play. He left when the ovation was loudest

Absolutely.
Was so disappointed when Retegui, arguably their best striker then left the Serial A for the Saudi Pro, and his form has subsequently crashed.

But it is the sign if the times. The Series A is becoming a second tier league. Investment is paltry and wages cannot compete with the top tier leagues. And this has spilled into national team football.
come on fly away from here. The serie A is now more exciting than the la liga

1) Cross-River isn't in the Eastern region, as wrongly cited by the long essay.

2) The women seem to be enjoying some material benefits from the support of external donors. In that light, why can't they empower the youths whom they are chasing out of the timber business with another economically rewarding alternative?
