The Nigerian Army on Monday said fighters of the extremist Boko Haram sect had acquired new sets of uniforms.
A statement by the spokesperson for the Army, Sani Usman, said, “Troops of 22 Brigade Garrison and elements of 3 Battalion that went out on long range fighting patrol yesterday, Monday 25th April 2016, to Gima village in Ngala Local Government Area made a startling discovery; Boko Haram terrorists now have new means of identification.

Traditional rulers in Kwara state on Monday appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in what they called political trial of the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal(CCT).
At the end of their meeting in Ilorin, the state capital, on Monday, they described the on-going trial of Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) as nothing but “political vendetta and persecution of our son”.

The monarchs spoke under the aegis of the forum of Ilorin Emirate Magajis and Alanguas.
They noted in a statement signed by Alajagusi,Alhaji Abdulwahab Sanni (Chairman)and the Magaji Nda of Ilorin , Alhaji Salihu Woru Mohammad (Secretary) that APC ” is already enmeshed in leadership crisis as a result of the treatment being meted to Saraki”

Politics“FG Requires N2trn To Complete Ongoing Road Projects –fashola by catchfun(op): 6:50pm On Apr 25, 2016
Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Power, Works and HousingThe Federal Government will require about N2trillion to complete no new fewer than 226 ongoing road projects across the country.
The Minister of Works, Power and Housing,Mr Babatunde Fashola made the disclosure in Lagos while speaking at a Town Hall meeting organized to brief the public on the activities of the government in the last 11 months.
He, however, said the total amount allocated to all the sectors under his ministry in the 2016 budget was less than N500 billion, stressing that the government did not have enough resources to complete all the projects at present.
Fashola added that the focus of the government for now would be to complete some of the projects and not to undertake new ones.
“The Ministry of Power, Works and Housing proposed N423billion at the Federal Executive Council and the information reaching us is that we are not going to get all that.
“Ongoing road projects alone awarded by the government before we came– about 266 roads awarded in the various states– the liability to complete them is about N2trillion.
“So, when you look at N400billion,you know that that that is not enough, but when you compare what this administration is going to do with the N400billion, with what the last administration did,you will know it is much progress.
“What the last administration did was to budget N18billion for all the roads in the country, knowing the liability was in excess of N2trilion.
“For the three sectors, that is Works,Housing and Power, the total budget by the last administration was N24.5billion. So,this administration decided to move away from that and that is why we have a figure that may not be enough, but substantial for the sectors“he said.
In the power sector, the minister said though there were many challenges facing the sector ,the government would do everything possible to fulfill its promise to revamp it.
He said the 5,000megawatts the country was generating was inadequate and explained that the government was completing some ongoing power projects and and taking other steps to boost generation.
On electricity metering,Fashola said his ministry was engaging the distribution companies to ensure that they distribute metres to households.
He said it was through metering that consumers could be appropriately charged and that power companies themselves could block revenue leakages.
The minister said government was designing a housing model for the country that would not only take care the problem of affordability but also take into consideration cultural suitability in every part of the nation

CrimeGabriel Daudu Jailed For N1.4bn Fraud by catchfun(op): 6:02pm On Apr 25, 2016
A Federal High Court in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital on Monday convicted a former member of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Gabriel Daudu, of money laundering and sentenced him to two years imprisonment.

Justice Inyang Ekwo, in a judgment on Monday, found Daudu guilty on 77 out of the 208 counts pressed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Daudu, who served as the Caretaker Chairman of the Ogori/Mangogo Local Government Area of Kogi State between January and July 2008, had been standing trial since April, 2010 alongside a former Commissioner for Agriculture in Kogi State, Albert Adesina.

The charges pressed against them by the EFCC bordered on conspiracy, advanced fee fraud and money laundering involving about N1.4bn.

But while Daudu was convicted on 77 counts and sentenced to two years on each count to run concurrently, Justice Ekwo, however, discharged and acquitted Adesina, who was only charged with one count.

Daudu’a trial started first before Justice Adamu Bello of a Federal High Court in Abuja before it was later transferred to the Lokoja Division of the Federal High Court before Justice Ekwo, where Daudu and Adesina were re-arraigned twice on amended charges.

The prosecution counsel, Mr. Wahab Shittu, fielded 13 witnesses and tendered 47 exhibits to prove the charges against Daudu.

Though Daudu, through his lawyer, Mr. O.J. Onoja (SAN), called seven witnesses in a bid to prove his innocence, the court however found him guilty as Justice Ekwo held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

Late last year, the EFCC had expressed fear over the possibility that the case could start afresh after Justice Ekwo announced that the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, had asked Justice P.M. Ayuba of the Lokoja Division of the court to take over the case.

But following the plea by the EFCC, through its lawyer, Shittu, asking Justice Auta to review the decision, the case file was returned to Justice Ekwo, who eventually delivered judgment on Monday, convicting Daudu and sentencing him to two years imprisonment.

CrimeHow Saraki Paid Over N522m For Property In Lagos – Witness Tells Tribunal by catchfun(op): 4:30pm On Apr 18, 2016
An operative with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Michael Wetkas on Monday told the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, how the Senate President, Bukola Saraki paid over N522m for a property in Ikoyi Lagos.
Wetkas who was led in evidence by counsel to EFCC, Rotimi Jacobs tendered cheques allegedly drawn from Saraki’s personal account and the account of his firm, Carlie Properties Investments Limited meant for payment of the property at 17, Mcdonald Street, Ikoyi, Lagos.
EFCC claimed that Saraki through his companies paid a total of N522,060,000 in seven tranches for the said property which is one of those the Senate President failed to declare to the Code of Conduct Bureau while he was governor of Kwara State.
Wetkas said the property was procured in the name of Tiny Tee Limited from the Presidential Committee on the Sale of Federal Government Properties between 2006 and 2007.
He said, “The part payment was from GTB account of Carlie Properties and Investment Ltd.
“There is a draft before me for N256,300,000 which was part payment for 17, Mcdonald Street, Ikoyi, Lagos.
“There is another draft before me of N12,815,000 which was part payment for 17, Mcdonald, Ikoyi.

Politics“hang In There,” Saraki's Dad Says During A Meeting With The Witch Of Endor By B by catchfun(op): 3:21pm On Apr 18, 2016
Though Bukola Abiku Mesujamba Saraki has men to guard him, he's afraid to close his eyes at night lest he'll be overtaken. Some days are worse than others. Last Friday was the worst. How he longs for a miracle or magic to shatter the darkness and pronounce that he has no case to answer. But there is only silence. Perhaps he should summon an interpreter to read his dreams, but these days he has no dreams because he sleeps so little. If only he could ask a medium for a solution. But... now there is only silence. No word from anyone or from anywhere.
Bayo Oluwasanmi
Arguably, the most challenging time Bukola Abiku Mesujamba Saraki ever faced was the bad news delivered to him on Friday by the billionaire judge Abdul Kafarati when his case to halt the CCT trial was tossed into the garbage. He'll go down in Nigeria's political history as the most deviant, devilish, and incorrigible politician. I say that because he reveals and represents a deep cultural preoccupation with failure and inadequacy which are projected unto deviant figures. He serves as mirror to the corrupt political culture that has become the hall mark of our mocked democracy.
Saraki has had some victories along the way, the thing he wants most he cannot have – to be at peace. To rest secure. Since he became the Senate President over a year ago, he is still uneasy. Criminal cases plague him. Nigerian people abandoned him. Friends ostracized him. After Friday's unfavorable ruling against him, his spiritual advisers comprising Babalawos, Afas, and Prophets counseled him to see a woman in the city of Endor- the Witch of Endor. He trust his spiritual advisers, he embarks on the journey post haste to Endor.
Divested of all the pomp and pageantry that usually accompany his trips, for the first time in his life he travels like a poor N Nigerian. No senate presidential jet. Instead, he hops on okada (commercial bike), no aide, no convoy. The night before, the Witch of Endor had a premonition that an important Nigerian politician was on his way to her . She feels restless and unsettled. Late at night when night had fallen, she startled to find two strangers at her door.
“Good morning Madam! My name is Bukola Abiku Mesujamba Saraki. I'm the Senate President of Nigeria's upper hollow chamber. I'm being selectively persecuted by my political enemies. My fundamental rights have been violated. My political foes trumped up a charge of false declaration of assets against me. I'm a victim of political witch hunting. I'm rejected. I'm dejected. I'm deserted. I'm lonely. I need your help.”
“What specifically do you want from me,” asks the Witch of Endor. “Madam, consult a spirit for me, and bring up the one that I name. Bring up my dad – Abubakar Olusola Saraki – from the dead. “Now, be strong, do not fear, and be ready to meet your dad,” says the Witch of Endor. The Witch goes into some murmurings in the language of the dead and conjures elder Saraki to come up and meet his beleaguered son. “What do you see?” the Witch asks. “I see a spirit coming up out of the ground... An old man wearing a full Hajj regalia. That's my dad! Yes, that's him!”
Bukola Abiku Mesujamba Saraki kneels with his face to the ground. “Dad, I'm in great distress. The Buhari administration is fighting me. It's politically motivated. I'm being singled out for prosecution. I'm being persecuted because I became the Senate President. Everyone has turned his back against me. I'm politically isolated. God is angry with me. He no longer answers my prayers. I did everything that you did when you were here, and everything you taught me on how to emerge victorious in crises, but to no avail. No one answers me. Prophets, Imams, Afas, Babalawos, Ogbonis, or by dreams have all left me. So, I'm here to see you for a quick solution.”
The elder Saraki's reply is carried in the throat of the Witch of Endor who serves as the Interpreter. “Why do you consult me only at the times of trouble. Remember your last act of disobedience to me? Your sins are hunting you now. But I'll forgive you because you're my son. You know I love you so much. I'm going to save you from.” His father's words rush at Bukola Abiku Mesujamba Saraki with nightmare force, and he almost fainted. Seeing how terrified, the Witch pleads with his father. “Look, your son deeply regrets his actions toward you. He has apologized. All his life, he did what you told him to do. Now, please listen to your son and come to his aid.”
“My son, you know while I was with you, I shielded you, protected you, and I made sure you're absolved from all your crimes. The solution to your problems is simple. Remember the blood ritual with humans I used to do when I was the governor. Remember the special ritual feast with which I fed Kwara people. Well then, repeat the same rituals. Make sure you distribute six yards of cloth and cash to the guests. Don't forget the particular ritual with a pregnant woman. That's the solution to your problem. Did you forget the 25 or more people who lost their lives after the feast you gave to Kwara people in mandate House on November 17, 2010? What about the 2013 feast in Ilorin with gifts of cash and six yards of cloth after which at least 20 people lost their lives? The rituals worked then. It will work now. Do the rituals as soon as you get back to Abuja. You ain't going nowhere. You're here to stay as the Senate President. As a matter fact, you'll become the President come 2019.”
“Fair enough, son?” “Yes Dad. That's why I missed you so much. I know if you were here, I won't be going through all these problems.” “Son, do you have any question before I leave?” “No Dad, you have done exceedingly wonderful.” Give my love to Toyin, and the children. Tell them I missed them all.”
“To hell with my detractors and enemies calling for my head. I own the senate. In fact, the National Assembly is in my pocket. No amount of intimidation, persecution, prosecution can move me an inch. Nigerians, you ain't seen nothing yet. Ain't going nowhere. I'm not going to resign. I'm here for the long haul. The CCT case is not going anywhere either. I'm the Senate President today, tomorrow, and forever.”
“Free at last. I'm free at last. Thanks to my Dad, I'm free at last!”

PoliticsI Don’t Need Your Permission To Appoint Personal Aides – Bello Replies APC by catchfun(op): 10:24am On Apr 18, 2016
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has said it is his constitutional right to appoint his personal aides without any recourse to any group of people, provided the individuals meet up the requirement as stipulated by the law.
He spoke at the weekend through his Special Adviser on Media. Mallam Abdulkarim Abdulmalik, in reaction to the letter purportedly written by the State Executive of the All Progressives Congress to the national leadership of the party.
Bello said he was yet to be informed by the National Secretariat of the ‎APC about the petition, adding that he is running an all-inclusive government and the APC leadership are free to recommend anybody for any appointment provided the person meets certain criteria for such positions.
Bello stated that his government was working towards unity and as such, his doors were always opened to accommodate everybody irrespective of religion, ethnic and political differences.
He accused the State Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Haddi Ametuo, of hiding under the party to play games against his government because his favoured choice, Hon. Jimoh Lawal, was removed as Speaker of the House of Assembly by the lawmakers.
Bello said his administration has demonstrated commitment towards rebuilding the state and uniting the people for peaceful co-existence through people-oriented policies and programme.
This, according to him, attested to the warm reception accorded him at Okene when he was recently received by a large crowd that thronged the city square to rejoice with him over his victory at the poll

CrimeU.S. Agrees To Give Nigeria $480m Abacha Family Loot by catchfun(op): 8:02am On Apr 18, 2016
Anti-graft agency seeks records of recovered £22.5m
United States has agreed to repatriate to Nigeria about $480million believed to have been stolen by the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha and his family.
But the conditions for the repatriation of the cash and other details are being worked out,The Nationhas learnt.
Also, it was learnt that the Department of Justice in the United States now has a Kleptocracy Unit, which will assist to track looted funds and money laundered by public officials from Nigeria and other nations.
The planned repatriation is the outcome of the recent meeting between the Department of Justice and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN) and the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission( EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu.
A source, who spoke in confidence with our correspondent, said: “This is the largest loot ever traced to a former Nigerian public officer in the U.S.
“The DOJ, the AGF and the EFCC have concluded all the talks; we are in the process of repatriation of the $480million.
“Although there are interventions from private lawyers, the DOJ prefers a government-to-government deal.
“ I can tell you that the funds will soon be repatriated. If there is anything left, it has to do with the conditions which the US will attach to the utilisation of the funds.
“The US is likely to advise on specific areas to spend the funds on and the project monitoring mechanisms. It does not want the cash re-looted.”
In the source’s view, there is no hiding place for Nigerian treasury looters in the United States anymore.
“The Federal Government and the U.S. on January 14, 2003 signed the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between the two nations. So, no corrupt public officers from Nigeria can hide in the US.
“At the session with AGF and the EFCC boss, they told the Nigerian team that the DOJ now has Kleptocracy Unit which is closing tabs on Political Office Holders and other public officers in this country and many other nations.”
The Department of Justice of the United States had in the last few years initiated forfeiture proceedings against the Abachas.
The proceedings made it possible for the Abacha family and its associates to forfeit over $550million and £95,910 in 10 accounts and six investment portfolios linked to them in France, Britain, British Virgin Islands and the United States.
The Criminal Division of the Office of International Affairs of the US Department of Justice, in a letter to the Federal Government, identified the accounts where Abacha loot was hidden.
The highlights are as follows: Doraville Properties Corporation – $287 million in Account Number 80020796 located at Deutsche Bank International Limited in the Bailiwick of Jersey; HSBC Fund Administration (Jersey) – $12 million in account number S-104460 in the Bailiwick of Jersey; and Rayville International, S. A – $1 million in account number 223405880IUSD at Banque SBA in Paris, France.
Others are Standard Alliance Financial Services Limited – $144 million in account 223406510PUSD at Banque SBA in Paris; Mecosta Securities – $21.7 million in accounts 10030688 and 100138409 at Standard Bank in the United Kingdom; and HSBC Bank Plc – $1.6 million in account number 38175076.
Also listed are Blue Holding (1) Pte Ltd/ Ridley Group Limited – £6,806,900; Blue Holding (2) Pte. Ltd/ Ridley Group Limited – £21,846,983; Blue Holding (1) Pte. Ltd/ Ridley Group Limited – £10,293,343.58; Blue Holding (2) Pte. Ltd/Ridley Group Limited – £56,962,996.26
It was learnt that the Abacha family had pledged to cooperate with the Federal Government.
But the EFCC is still probing the whereabouts of £22.5m (N6.18billion) loot which the late Gen. Abacha allegedly stashed away on the Island of Jersey.
No fewer than three prominent Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) have been quizzed by the EFCC on the whereabouts of the records of the recovered £22.5m (N6.18billion).
According to records, the late Head of State allegedly stashed the funds through a Lebanese called Bhojwani.
But when the Office of the AGF was alerted by a whistle-blower, the administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan opened discussions with the Attorney-General of the Island of Jersey.

Military sources on Saturday confirmed the arrest of the leader of the Ansaru Islamic Sect, Khalid Albarnawi, who was described as the second in command to Abubakar Shekau in the hierarchy of the Boko Haram terrorists group.
A report by an online portal, The Cable, had quoted Ahmad Salkida, a journalist, known for his access to some of the leaders of the Boko Haram as having said that Albarnawi was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Lokoja, Kogi State and moved to Abuja on Friday.
The Ansaru leader, Albarnawi, who reportedly trained in the North African country of Algeria, is believed to highly be influential in the nation’s terror network.
He is regarded as the most influential member of Nigeria’s terror network with contacts to other Jihadi groups in North Africa and the Middle East. Salkida said Albarnawi is believed to have reconciled with the leader of Islamic State in West Africa (ISWAP), also known as Boko Haram.
Ansaru was formed as a splinter group of the Boko Haram in January 26, 2012 and it claimed responsibility for the November 2012 attack on the Special Anti Robbery Squad Headquarters, Abuja.

PoliticsOshiomhole’s Aide Blasts Fayose Over Attack On Buhari, Calls Him A Fraudster by catchfun(op): 10:10am On Apr 01, 2016
A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State, Charles Idahosa has berated the Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, over his persistent attack on President Muhammdu Buhari.
Speaking yesterday, Idahosa who also doubles as the Political Adviser to the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole described Fayose as a fraudster whose attack on the President was whipping up sentiment from the public.
According to Idahosa, Fayose was only biting more than he can chew, “knowing that his sins will soon catch up with him.”
“It’s just a pity that Nigerians tend to forget history fast. I am always shocked when people take Fayose seriously. This regular attack on Buhari is to prepare the ground because he knows he will go down.
“All his actions are to whip up public sentiments so that when his sins catch up with him, people will say that it’s because he is always attacking the government. Is he the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Publicity Secretary or spokesman,” he said

PoliticsTreasury Looters Don’t Deserve Bail, Says Falana by catchfun(op): 8:22am On Apr 01, 2016
A Lagos-based lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), says politically-exposed persons facing corruption charges do not deserve bail.
“Since victims of grand corruption including armed robbery and kidnap suspects are not usually admitted to bail, those who are charged with looting the treasury should no longer be granted bail,” Falana said.
While expressing worry that many of the ongoing high profile corruption cases may not be concluded before 2019 when President Muhammadu Buhari would have finished his term, Falana also made a case for the creation of special courts.
The activist lawyer expressed these views in a paper he delivered on Thursday at the roundtable on anti-corruption war convened by the Department of Jurisprudence and International Law, University of Lagos, where he was the keynote speaker.
The roundtable, which was chaired by the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), had a former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, Dr. Femi Aribisala and Dr. Ayo Obe as discussants.
In his paper titled, “Rule of Law and Treatment of Politically-exposed corruption cases,” delivered on his behalf by Mr. Wahab Shittu, Falana said if the Buhari government did not undertake an urgent reform of the criminal justice system, including creating special courts, its anti-corruption war efforts would amount to nothing.
He also took a swipe at the Nigerian Bar Association and the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, who had called on Buhari to respect the rule of law, saying they were not sincere.
He said, “The Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria has urged the government to fight corruption under the rule of law. On its own part the NBA has censored the Federal Government for violating the human rights of certain suspects. But neither the BOSAN nor the NBA has deemed it fit to caution the members of the legal profession who are determined to frustrate the prosecution of corruption cases.
“As far as both bodies are concerned, human rights are the exclusive reserve of the bourgeois. Hence, the tenets of the rule of law are only invoked when the trial of VIPs is involved, while human rights are violated in Nigeria when the looters of the treasury are arrested and detained for a few days without trial.”
Falana wondered why BOSAN and NBA did not talk of human rights when “70 soldiers were recently tried in camera, convicted and sentenced to death for demanding weapons to fight the well-armed terrorists,” and why the two bodies were not bothered about the plight of “40,000 out of the 52,000 prison inmates who are awaiting trial under dehumanising conditions.”

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday said President Muhammadu Buhari and himself were determined to give good account of themselves in their respective offices.
According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, the Vice-President spoke while receiving a delegation of his Law Faculty class mates with whom he attended the University of Lagos between 1975 and 1978.
He also promised that all efforts would be put in place to ensure that Nigeria makes good progress under the current administration.
“The President and I are determined to give a good account of ourselves and more importantly ensure that the country makes a good progress,” the Vice-President reportedly told his guests.

CrimeAbduction Of 76 Enugu Indigenes – IPOB Gives Buhari 72 Hours Ultimatum by catchfun(op): 3:44pm On Mar 29, 2016
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Tuesday issued a 72-hour ultimatum to President Muhammadu Buhari led federal government over the alleged abduction of 76 indigenes of Enugu State by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
Although earlier reports had indicated that the Awgu natives were arrested by soldiers from Abia State, military authorities have since maintained that such persons were not Nigerian soldiers.
The villagers had issues with Fulani herdsmen before the reported of the 76 young men.
There are also reports that they are currently being held at a military facility in Abia State.
Consequently, in a statement signed by Bar. Emma Mmezu and Dr Clifford C. Iroanya, IPOB spokespersons, they warned that failure to release the Enugu indigenes unconditionally would attract “fire for fire”.
The statement read in parts:
“The raw show of power and bravado by Fulani herdsmen at Umuneshi, Awgu Community of Enugu State just cannot be accepted by any civilized society.
“First, the ever recalcitrant Fulani marauders abducted two women on their way to the farm. All entreaties to release the two women fell on deaf ears. The youth of the community mobilized to free their women, but the Fulani warriors informed their kinsmen at the military bases in the neigbouring Abia State.
“The soldiers stormed the community, beat up and arrested all 76 youths, bundled them to zone 9, ordered them charged and remanded in prison without as much as allowing them to make statements.
“As at today the 76 youth remain locked up, the two women remain missing as Fulani supremacy reigns supreme.
“The brutal show of power and arrogant display of ‘we own Nigeria’ demonstrated by the Fulani is not only nauseating but despicable.
“When you add this to the brazen arrogance of display of Fulani republic flags in Ohafia, Abia State, and the provocative flying of Fulani flags in Agatu Benue State, Eket, Akwa Ibom, and many other places, the IPOB is convinced that the battle of total annihilation has been brought to our door steps by the avowed enemies of peace.
“Accordingly, the IPOB is hereby giving President Muhammadu Buhari 72 hours beginning from 6pm, Tuesday 29th March 2016, to release the 76 youths of Umeneshi Community, Awgu, together with the two women earlier abducted by the Fulani fighters.
“The Fulani flags flying over our ancestral land must also be removed within the same period failure of which the world will witness the first true feel of the anger of IPOB world wide. The era of consistently begging a mindless but determined enemy has suddenly come to an end. It is fire for fire. It is our generational duty to defend our honour as a people or be damned forever.”

CrimeMy Wife Always Tears My Boxers To Molest Me, Man Tells Court by catchfun(op): 3:32pm On Mar 29, 2016
“My wife has turned my boxers to rags as she always tears them to rape me,” a retired soldier, Gafaru Rodoye, told an Igando Customary court in Lagos.
He told the court on Tuesday that his wife, Idiat, with whom he had five children in their 20-year old marriage, always raped him.
“My wife always rape me; she had turned all my boxers to rags to achieve her selfish aim,” he said.
The petitioner said that his wife was in the habit of threatening his life through beating and that he was afraid she might kill him one day.
“I had to run away from my 16-flat building to rent an apartment elsewhere just to avoid her frequent beatings, but she trailed me to my new apartment to fight me.
“I have reported her severally to different police stations, but it did not yield any positive result,” he said.
Gafaru said that his wife poured hot water on the new wife that was brought for him from the village by his family.
He begged the court to end their 20-year old marriage, saying he was no longer in love as his life was in danger.
“Please, separate us before my wife kills me, my life is not safe with her, I am a pensioner, I need to enjoy the fruit of my labour.” he said.
However, Mrs Idiat Rodoye, 44, business woman, denied all the allegations, saying her husband was a womaniser.
“My husband runs after anything in skirt; he always sends me packing from the house whenever he wants to bring in another woman.
“He once sent me out with the children for three years.
“After sending me out, he had married six different women, but none stayed long with him. He will always come back to beg me to pack back,’’ she said.
The mother of five said she never raped her husband, that it was normal for husband and wife to make love.
The respondent said that she did not beat her husband, but it was her husband that was always beating her.
Idiat said that her husband removed the plasma television, air conditioner and disconnected the electricity supply from her flat, leaving her and the children in darkness.
She urged the court to grant her husband’s wish that she too was tired of the marriage and no longer in love.
The Court President, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, adjourned the case to April 5 for further hearing.http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/03/my-wife-always-tears-my-boxers-to-rape-me-man-tells-court/

Abuja – The Nigerian Army has increased the cash reward it promised to give anyone with useful information that would help in the rescue of its abducted officer from N500,000 to N1 million.
This information is contained in a statement issued on Monday by spokesman of the Army 1 Division, Kaduna, Col. Abdul Usman.
He said the cash reward was increased to mobilise more support from the public for the rescue of the abducted officer.
He urged the public to contact the Army or security agencies with useful information that could lead to the release of the officer.
Usman added that the Army would give adequate protection to anyone with relevant information and promised to treat such information with
utmost confidentiality.
The Nigeria Army in a statement on Sunday confirmed the abduction of its serving senior officer, Col. Samaila Inusa in Kaduna.
The Army statement noted that Inusa was a serving officer at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry in Jaji, Kaduna State.
It noted that Inusa’s abductors kidnapped him at Kamazo in Chikkun Local Government Area near NNPC junction, Kaduna State.

PoliticsPDP Battles Ghost Workers, Pays Staff In Cash by catchfun(op): 9:27am On Mar 28, 2016
The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has detectedghostworkers on its payroll after ordering the workers to line up and collect their salaries in cash.
Investigations by our correspondent showed that the precarious financial situation of the party forced its leadership to take the action.
It was gathered that the National Chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff, was worried about the huge salary bill of the workers and decided to take action aiming at ascertaining the actual number of workers at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Sheriff was said to have inherited about N872m debt when he assumed office about a month ago.
Worried by this, Sheriff was said to have taken members of the National Workers Committee by surprise when on Thursday he directed the workers to get their salaries in cash.
A management employee, who spoke with our correspondent on Sunday, said that they were surprised when they (the workers) were directed to assemble inside the National Executive Committee hall at the national secretariat.
He said, “Sheriff has started the restructuring of the PDP for efficient and effective performance.
“March 24 will ever be a day to remember in our party. On that day, as early as 11am, the NWC and members of staff of the PDP, under the instruction of our national chairman, moved into the conference hall.
“The chairman also joined everyone in the hall. And to the surprise of all, the business of the day was the payment of staff salaries, which was done department after department.
“One after the other, after individual’s physical verification of each file and identity, thereafter you are then paid your salary in cash.”
The exercise was chaired by the national chairman who directed the National Treasurer, Mr. Buhari Bala, to call the workers by their departments.
Another management worker said, “Names of all the workers were called according to their departments and once you heard your name, you would come out to collect your salary by hand.
“This order was followed by the national treasurer and some employees of the Finance Department, who assisted him.
“All heads of departments were on the ground to observe the exercise.
“So, when a name was called, the person came out and his/her file was opened for verification before cash was paid to such a worker.
“And at about 6:30pm, the chairman left the hall to attend to other meetings, while the national treasurer continued to call the names of employees.
“In the absence of the national chairman, he called four departments, amongst them were the Youth Department and Security Department.”
Before calling the security staff on the list submitted, Bala was said to have complained that the list was too lengthy.
It was gathered that Bala realised during the payment that the security department had what he described asghostworkers and security personnel, as the names of policemen called were those who had left the service of the PDP immediately after the resignation of the then National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, about two years ago.
Some of the workers at the national secretariat had called on Sheriff to set up a panel to investigate those behind the scam.
One of them said, “The outcome of what happened on Thursday was an indication that salaries of thoseghostworkers were being collected by someone over the years.
“Ghostworkers were also discovered in the other departments.”http://www.punchng.com/pdp-battles-ghost-workers-pays-staff-in-cash/
