Politics › We Won’t Be Distracted By Obasanjo’s Letter — Reps by catchfun(op): 12:40pm On Jan 29, 2016 |
The chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Abdulrazak Namdas, has said that the House would not be distracted by criticisms by former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Mr. Obasanjo had in a letter dated January 13, accused the National Assembly of financial recklessness and insensitivity to the declining state of the country’s economy. Mr. Namdas (Adamawa-APC) reacted to the letter at a news conference on Thursday in Abuja. He said the lawmakers had tremendous respect for Mr. Obasanjo, adding that they would not join issues with him since he was exercising his right to freedom of expression. He explained that the letter by the former president might not have been meant for the 8th Assembly but rather the 4th or 5th Assemblies. “We have tremendous respect for the former president. We don’t want to be distracted by letters. “Probably the letter is not meant for the eighth Assembly because we have queued in with President Muhammadu Buhari. “I think the letter is meant for the fourth or fifth Assembly. It was misdirected,’’ Mr. Namdas said. Commenting on the alleged sharing of N50 million and 150 motorcycles to all members by the House Leadership, he said the matter would be investigated. Mr. Namdas said that the House would take appropriate steps when the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges turned in its report after the House reconvened in two weeks’ time. He said that since the allegation was a serious one, it would not be left to lie low. NAN also reports that the House adjourned plenary till Feb. 16, to enable members engage officials of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on budget defence sessions. Politics › Southsouth Ex-lawmakers Urges Tompolo To Surrender by catchfun(op): 8:12am On Jan 28, 2016 |
A group of former Federal legislators from the Southsouth yesterday urged former General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), Chief Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo), to surrender to the Federal Government and face the charges against him in court. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said it has a case against the former militant leader. Tompolo has gone into hiding as the bombing of crude oil and gas pipelines increased in the region. The group, Coalition of Southsouth Emeritus Legislators, urged those aggrieved in the region to embrace peace and channel their grievances through the Amnesty Office. The 11 former lawmakers of the House of Representatives addressed reporters in Abuja. Other members of the group are: Samson Osagie (Edo), Abubakar Momoh (Edo), Mike Ekpegule (Bayelsa), Patty Etete Ineme (Akwa Ibom). Others are: Christopher Enai (Bayelsa), Ehiogie West Idahosa (Edo), Alex Ukam (Cross River), Promise Abibo (Rivers) and Ikperikpe Ekpo (Akwa Ibom). Mercy Almona-Isei (Delta) said: “Already, the Federal Government has instituted an agency as a window of opportunity for all aggrieved people from that region to ventilate their grievances in any way; that is the Office of the Amnesty Programme. “…That office has been engaging the people of the region. Some have benefited from one form of training or the other. If anything has arisen that would create this type of confusion or anger among the people, we expect that we should use that platform to get back whatever they feel they are denied of.” On Tompolo, she said: “Against that background, we are calling on our own son, our brother, who is being called by the government to come and answer any question. He should come out as a gentleman and as a true son of Niger Delta. “He should come out and give his side of the story. We all know that nobody is presumed guilty until proven so. So, I think rather than pull down the trees in the region because of one person, we believe that he should be man enough. He should be a patriot that he is; he should be nationalistic and come out to answer to whatever he is being accused of. “For those who are going to destroy our national assets, we believe they shouldn’t allow anybody to misguide them, mislead them. They should channel their grievances to the Amnesty Office.” Reading the position of the group, Halims Agoda (Delta) noted that the former lawmakers were saddened by the recent happenings in the region. He said: “We are saddened by the news of the recent bombing of crude oil and gas pipelines in parts of Niger Delta. “While condemning the renewed vandalisation of oil and gas facilities in the zone, we use this medium to call on persons – severally or individually or group – involved in these acts to desist forthwith. “It is our belief that the only productive means to actualising or redressing perceived injustice, inequality or unfair deals, is through dialogue. It has worked before and it remains the only sure way to consensus building, the sine qua non for the much needed development of the region. “…We, the members of the coalition of Southsouth Emeritus Legislatures, wish to unequivocally declare our unflinching support for Federal Government’s effort to promote the sustainable development of the Southsouth. This definitely is a new dawn.” lalasticlala http://thenationonlineng.net/southsouth-ex-lawmakers-urges-tompolo-surrender/ |

Politics › Falana To Okonjo-iweala: I Want To Stop Impunity by catchfun(op): 8:20pm On Jan 27, 2016 |
Lagos lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), on Wednesday said his petitions to anti- graft agencies and the Special Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) were anchored on law and facts, insisting that he has nothing personal against any person in the ongoing battle to end impunity and retrieve the nation’s looted funds from corrupt elements and institutions. Falana made this declaration while reacting to comments credited to the former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala following his petition to the ICC for investigation into alleged crimes against humanity by serving and retired military officers and their civilian accomplices who were alleged to have diverted over $8 billion earmarked for procurement of arms for counter insurgency operations in the northeast. The lawyer declined to exchange what he termed “vulgar abuse” with the former minister who he said was attempting to extricate herself from the mass looting of the commonwealth under her watch. He said Dr. Okonjo-Iweala is always quick to deflect criticisms by accusing anyone seeking to hold her to account for her appalling records in government of ulterior political motives. He recalled that when a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, alleged that about N30 trillion could not be accounted for under her watch, he (Soludo) was described as “an embittered loser” in the Nigerian political space. “When Comrade Adams Oshiomole questioned the illegal withdrawal of $2 billion from the Excess Crude Account, he was accused of having animus towards her because she had blocked Edo State from obtaining a loan,” Falana stated. The rights activist said the ex- minister‘s claim that he is not familiar with the mandate of the ICC shows that she has not been following the practice of the court and its active and robust approach to its mandates, in particular with regard to the investigation of crimes in Darfur, the warrant of arrest for Joseph Kony (Uganda), and the warrant of arrest for Ahmad Harun, (Sudan) http://thenationonlineng.net/falana-to-okonjo-iweala-i-want-to-stop-impunity/lalasticlala. |

Politics › How Nigeria Was Ripped-off In $470m CCTV Project – Reps C’ttee by catchfun(op): 2:34pm On Jan 26, 2016 |
An House of Representatives Adhoc Committee has revealed that the country has been short-changed in the execution of the $470 million contract for the installation of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in Abuja and Lagos awarded to the ZTE Corporation of China by the immediate past administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan. Ahead of a public hearing organised by the committee investigating the projects slated for today, the panel noted that the naira equivalent of the money paid to the contractor was “over a trillion naira,” thereby calling for public support for a hitch-free investigation. In a press statement issued yesterday and signed by the committee chairman, Hon. Ahmed Yerima, it recalled how the 7th House of Reps conducted a similar prob ein the past, adding that “forces” did not allow the report to see the light of day. ZTE Corporation was said to have abandoned the projects after collecting an upfront payment of $100m, explaining that the amount collected represents about 20 per cent of this year’s N6.08trn budget of the country. The committee added that the non-completion of the projects has also hampered the capacity of security agencies to gather intelligence on the activities of criminal elements in the country. “The contract for the installation of CCT cameras in Abuja and Lagos by the ministry of police affairs, is part of a larger project titled, ‘Nigerian National Public Security Communications System, facilitated by an EXIM Bank of China loan.
“The CCTV camera installations is only an integral part of the entire project, which include the installation of 2,000 digital solar-powered cameras, 1,000 each for Abuja and Lagos; 37 switch rooms, microwave backbone; 37 coalition emergency response systems; 38 video conference sub-systems; 37 e-police systems; six emergency communication vehicles; and 1.5million phone lines for subscribers to generate revenue,” the statement said.
LEADERSHIP recalls that the committee has already summoned top government officials and other stakeholders to shed light on the matter, including the national security adviser (NSA) General Babagana Monguno (rtd), minister of finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun and governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele.
Others invited are Inspector-General of Police Solomon Arase, Lagos State governor Akinwunmi Ambode, FCT minister Mohammed Musa Bello, minister of interior General Abdulrahman Dambazzau (rtd), minister of communications Adebayo Shittu and executive vice chairman of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) Garba Dambatta, among several others. Meanwhile, the committee has assured Nigerians that the investigation would not be about ego or party affiliation but the general good of Nigerians http://www.leadership.ng/news/495046/nigeria-ripped-off-470m-cctv-project-reps-cttee. |

The Central Bank of Nigeria says the recently introduced N50 stamp duty for all deposit transactions will not be collected for Payments of salaries and wages as well as payments and deposits for self-to-self transactions whether inter or intra bank. This clarification was made in a statement sent out by the Director Corporate communication of CBN, Mallam Ibrahim Mu'azu yesterday January 21st. The management of the apex bank had on Monday January 19th sent out a circular to all Deposit Money Banks and Other Financial institutions titled, "Collection and Remittance of statutory charges on receipts of Nigeria Postal Service under theStamp Duties Act”, mandating it to collect N50 stamp duty for deposit transactions. The N50 stamp duty is being introduced to help increase the tax revenue of the Federal government. Part of the statement released by the CBN Director of Corporate Communication's reads “The implementation of the Stamp Duty at this point in time emanated from a Federal High Court order that the CBN should direct deposit money banks under its supervision to commence the collection of the duty on behalf of the federal government. Consequently, the money deposit banks have been directed to commence the collection of the duty. Banks are to collect the N50 stamp duty and remit same to the Nigerian Postal Services (NIPOST) on behalf of the customer. The N50 stamp duty is charged per transaction and NOT per volume. Hence, irrespective of the amount, the sum of N50 is to be charged provided such a transaction is N1,000 and above. There are however some exemptions and these include payments of salaries and wages, payments and deposits for self-to-self transactions whether inter or intra bank among others,’’ the statement said . |

Politics › Surrender To EFCC, Bayelsa APC Elders Tell Tompolo by catchfun(op): 6:20pm On Jan 23, 2016 |
Elders in Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress have advised that a repented Niger Delta militant, Mr. Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo), should surrender himself for questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over N13bn fraud. They also demanded an apology from the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Timi Frank, over his comments against the party leadership in the State “in his own interest.” The PUNCH had reported that Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court in Abuja had granted an order compelling him to answer an amended 40 counts of conspiracy, fraud and money laundering levelled against him and a former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Patrick Akpobolokemi. But shortly after the court order, militants attacked oil installations, fuelling speculations that his ‘boys’ were responsible. However, Tompolo in a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, accused the candidate of the APC in the Bayelsa State governorship election, Timipre Sylva, of trying to link him to the renewed vandalism of oil facilities in the Niger Delta region, saying he (Sylva) was the one responsible. But a member of the Bayelsa APC Elders, Chief Arerebo Bodi, at a reception organised in his honour on Saturday in Abuja, said it was important for Tompolo to honour the request of the EFCC, rather than blame Sylva and other APC leaders in the State http://www.punchng.com/27043-2/lalasticlala,obinoscopy. |

Politics › NIGERIAN WAILERS| Our Contract With The Government By @samstrongng by catchfun(op): 7:46pm On Jan 21, 2016 |
It has to be said that many of these Nigerian’s branded “wailing wailer” today once campaigned tirelessly for the success of President Buhari’s political ambition and subsequent emergence as Nigeria’s President. I may not be President Buhari’s biggest fan due to his brand of politics and leadership style but I want him to succeed because he is my President and Nigeria is my country, if he succeed as President, Nigeria succeed’s as a nation. I will praise him when he is spot-on and will “wail” when he is not. Nigerian’s are not naturally born “wailiers” but have been aroused by the sad turnout of event in the country, this wailing syndrome started before you assumed office on May 29th 2015, Mr President and will go on as long as your team and party continues playing Russian Roulette with the destiny of over 170 million Nigerian’s minus of course those in political safe houses. It started during the tenure of the previous administration, and most of the sycophant elite wailers at the time have today become governors and parliamentarians while some of them have been compensated with various political appointments at the federal and state levels; hence they wail no more however, the genuine wailing movement continues and we see through their masks and deceits, their falsehood, their double whammy brand of politics. They manufactured falsehoods to gain power, sold lies on social media to divide us as a people, and today they cannot manufacture bigger lies to defend the ones already told and this failure has backfired as it is now a unifying factor among we “wailers”. The fact remains, the act of “wailing wailers” contributed immensely to your success in the last general election Mr President upon which you signed below contract with us on May 29th 2015 thus; “I do solemnly swear/affirm that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Federal Republic of Nigeria; that as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, ………………….I will not allow my personal interest to influence my official conduct or my official decisions; that I will to the best of my ability preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; that I will abide by the Code of Conduct contained in the Fifth Schedule to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; that in all circumstances, I will do right to all manner of people, according to law, without fear or favour, affection or ill-will; …………………So help me God”…….and I add Amen to that!!! You pledged to “in all circumstances do right to all manner of people, according to law, without fear or favour, affection or ill-will” but you failed on that pledge when you turned a blind eye when many Nigerian’s of Igbo extraction where killed by the military towards the end of 2015 in Onitsha, Anambra state while promising to investigate similar killings in Zaria, that is the opposite of “doing right to all manner of people” Mr President and posterity will judge you on that Sir. I am a proponent of “One Nigeria” because I strongly believe there is greater strength in our diversity, it makes us unique. I also believe that citizens rights to opinion, peaceful protest and self-determination should be respected and not opposed. I am an Igbo man and a Nigerian, if there should be a referendum tomorrow, I will campaign for “Better Together” without denigrating the opinion or rights of other people seeking self-determination. Genuine critiques of this government might not be members of the ruling party and that does not mean they are members of the opposition party either, they are just concerned Nigerian’s who wants the best for their country. We wail because the economy is in shambles, we wail because more Nigerian’s are being recklessly killed by security forces and no question asked, we wail because our countries deficit is on the increase, unemployment is on the rise, we wail because every news coming from Aso-Rock contains excuses and propaganda, we wail because there is confusion in the land as a result of state sponsored falsehood, we wail because we were sold dummies during the last electioneering campaign by your party, we wail because there is hunger up and down the country worst than experienced in the previous government, we wail because every member of your team appears to be confused……where shall we go and what shall we do Mr President? We cannot hide, we will continue to protest, we will continue to wail, we will continue to act, we will continue to resist until we take the power of those politician’s who feeds on hate and prejudice, those politician’s who earn a living through sycophancy and lies, those politicians who spend more time manipulating Nigerians on social media. Silencing critiques will leave you with fewer alternatives, alternatives that scares you so much that you will turn to wailing wailer’s as the last resort. As citizens, we have the right to ask questions from our leaders, right to hold them to account without fear, intimidation or harassment and these rights we will uphold, we must make a mark of our moral certainty….!!! The more attempts to silence wailing wailers, the more mistakes those behind such moves will make and the more wailers will arise from every corner of the world, the decision is on your side Mr President, not ours. As a proponent of death penalty for corrupt public officials, I do support an honest anti-corruption campaign because corruption remains one of the challenges crippling Nigeria’s progress today but it is not the only problem. There are multitudes of problems which ought to be confronted from every direction but it does appear that our government is focusing solely on “fighting corruption” to which many have argued is purely selective, and might not stand the taste of time but only time will tell and posterity will judge us all. I know we all are entitled to our opinion and views but the contempt with which certain people in Nigeria praise and defend negative government actions and policies is the biggest act of sustained moral cruelty man ever know! No myth, no malaise will stop the wailing movement!! Being a member of the ruling party should not stop one from speaking out againt absurd government policies and actions. Those that have the courage to do so, should not be seen as being “anti-party” whatever…!!!! It takes courage for one to speak out against injustice, it takes courage for one to stand out from the crowd and I salute the courage of those wailers up and down the country. We might not have the army or navy, or DSS but we have the power to disrupt government anti-people policies and we will continue to use it for the greater good of our dear country. May God help us all Long Live Nigeria Samuel Nwaobia writes from the UK Twitter: @samstrongng lalasticlala,mynd44 http://www.thebreakingtimes.com/nigerian-wailers-our-contract-with-the-government-by-samstrongng/ |

Sani Usman, the Army Chief gave the directive during a conference with Principal Staff Officers and Directors serving at the Army Headquarters. “It is to be noted that the Chief of Army Staff has done so, soon on his appointment as Commander, Multinational Joint Task Force in May 2015 and also on his appointment as Chief of Army Staff in July 2015. Copies of both are with the Code of Conduct Bureau” Usman said. “This directive is in order, considering the fact that all military officers are having Presidential Commission and are public servants, as well as subject to both civil and military laws. “In addition, given the current drive of the country for probity and accountability, the Nigerian Army should not only key in but should be one of the key drivers for such laudable project” the statement added. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/01/buratai-orders-all-army-officers-to-declare-assests/lalasticlala |
Nairaland General › More Troubles For MTN As Cameroon Anti-graft Agency Slams $160m Fine by catchfun(op): 9:26am On Jan 21, 2016 |
Despite battling to pay a negotiated fine of $5.2 billion slammed on it by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) for failing to disconnect subscribers with unregistered and incomplete subscriber identification modules (SIM) cards within the stipulated time,, mobile telecommunications giant, MTN was yesterday fined another $160 by the Cameroonian government. MTN, according to Reuters report, was slammed the fine for failing to pay taxes on games and gambling services. The fine which was equally extended to another telecommunications firm,Orange and other companies, was an outcome of a wide-reaching probe into the sector, leading to a total fine of $283 million, that included Camtel and Viettel which were also in violation of regulations. In the report written by the anti corruption commission, known as CONAC, MTN and Orange were also accused of not paying taxes on their money transfer system, known as Mobile Money. Recall that NCC,had in October 2015, issued a landmark fine of N1.04 trillion ($5.2bn) against MTN Nigeria, the largest mobile network operator in the country. But MTN had on December 16,2015, launched a court challenge against the fine that NCC ordered it to pay by December 31 for failing to disconnect unregistered users. MTN said that “All factors having a bearing on the matter have been thoroughly and carefully considered, including a review of the circumstances leading to the fine and subsequent letters received from the NCC.” “MTN Nigeria, acting on legal advice, has resolved that the manner of the imposition of the fine and the quantum thereof were not in accordance with the NCC’s powers under the Nigerian Communications Act and therefore that it has valid grounds upon which to challenge the fine.” http://sunnewsonline.com/new/more-troubles-for-mtn-as-cameroon-anti-graft-agency-slams-160m-fine/ |

Politics › Farmers Protest Over Government Airport Project In Ekiti by catchfun(op): 3:30pm On Jan 20, 2016 |
Farmers in Ekiti state, on Wednesday, staged a protest against what they called ‘illegal acquisition of their farmlands and unlawful destruction of economic trees and crops,” which came as a result of the airport project embarked upon by the state government. The farmers from five communities: Igbemo, Igbogun, Aso, Iwajo and Ijan, that covered three local government areas of Ado, Gbonyin and Irepodun/Ifelodun, claimed that at least 10 farmers including three women have died of shock over what they called “huge economic loss” resulting from the destruction of their farms. They stormed the project site and urged Governor Ayo Fayose to immediately stop work on the project in respect of the suit they had filed in court. Displaying placards, the protesters claimed that they did not receive any valid notice before government sent bulldozers to destroy their farms. They said they do not need any compensation but restoration of their land. Some of their placards read: “Gov Fayose, Please Leave Us Alone, Don’t Damage Our Life,” “This Land Is The Major Cocoa Plantation, Please No Trespass,” “Please Relocate Your Airport to Government Forest,” “We All Say No To Illegal Airport Project,” “Iwajo, Aso Say No To Illegal Airport,” and “Igbogun Cries Over Illegal Destruction of Our Property.” Describing the acquisition of their land as “fraudulent, wicked, callous and illegal,” the farmers alleged that government surveyors and other officials come to their land from time to time to steal farm produce including cocoa, cocoyam, yam and banana. http://dailypost.ng/2016/01/20/farmers-protest-over-government-airport-project-in-ekiti/lalasticlala,obinoscopy |

Politics › Group Alleges Plot By INEC To Discreetly Replace Faleke As Bello’s Running Mate by catchfun(op): 8:00am On Jan 20, 2016 |
A Civil Society Organization and Election Monitoring Group, Conscience Nigeria, has raised the alarm on an alleged surreptitious plan by the Independent National Electoral Commission to assist the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the December 5 supplementary governorship election in Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, to fill in the name of a running mate different from James Faleke. Mr. Faleke was the deputy governorship candidate to the late APC governorship candidate, Abubakar Audu, in the substantive governorship election. The group’s Executive Director, Tosin Adeyanju, in a statement made available to PREMIUM TIMES on Tuesday, alleged that INEC was also planning to enter the new name on its official documents and backdate same in order to prove to the Election Petition Tribunal Sitting in Lokoja that Mr. Bello actually fulfilled constitutional provisions by running the Supplementary election with a deputy. “Section 187 sub-section 1 of the Nigerian Constitution is very emphatic and states in unequivocal terms that any governorship candidate for an election will not be deemed to be duly elected if he fails to run the election with a deputy,” he said. “With Hon. Faleke’s letter to APC and INEC refusing to be Bello’s Deputy and opting out of the supplementary election, political observers and legal pundits had wondered how Bello would beat the trap of section 187 of the constitution since he actually ran the election without a deputy.” The section states thus: “In any election to which the foregoing provisions of this part of this chapter relate, a candidate for the office of Governor of a state shall not be deemed to have been validly nominated for such office unless he nominates another candidate as his associate for his running for the office of Governor, who is to occupy the office of Deputy Governor…”. According to Mr. Adeyanju, Conscience Nigeria is disturbed with reports from very credible sources establishing the fact that a former member of Kogi State House of Assembly, Simon Achuba, from the Igala speaking part of the state (Kogi East) had been picked as the deputy governorship candidate who purportedly ran the supplementary election of December 5, 2015 with Mr. Bello. “We are terribly shocked with this development. This is corruption of the highest order and must not be allowed to stand,” Adeyanju said. “The confusing signal emanating from INEC’s position at the Tribunal points irresistibly to the fact that the commission is up to something sinister in its quest to rationalize the inclusion of Yahaya Bello as replacement for the deceased APC candidate, Prince Audu in the 2015 election. “Even legal pundits are at a loss as to the evasive and inherently conflicting averments in the processes so far filed on INEC’s behalf before the Tribunal especially as it has to do with the deputy governorship candidate of the APC that ran with Yahaya Bello in the Supplementary election of December 5, 2015 . http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/more-news/197059-group-alleges-plot-by-inec-to-discreetly-replace-faleke-as-bellos-running-mate.html |
Crime › Desist From Pipeline Vandalism Or Face Full Weight Of The Law – Military Warns N by catchfun(op): 8:34pm On Jan 19, 2016 |
The Defence Headquarters has observed with dismay the unpatriotic attacks on the nation’s economic lifeline in the Niger Delta. In a statement by Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar, the Acting Director Defence Information, he said these attacks were carried out by some criminal elements, who were bent on destroying the nation’s strategic assets. “The recent attacks on an oil facility in Delta state is a pointer to this direction. For the avoidance of doubt, the DHQ warns these criminal elements to desist from these unwholesome act of economic sabotage in the Niger Delta region for the overall benefits of the country. “Consequently, any individual or group of persons who engage in any act of sabotage to the nation’s strategic assets will face the full weight of the law as the military and other security agencies will ensure total protection of such facilities wherever they are in line with our constitutional mandate. “The security of the strategic assets and any other facilities is a collective responsibilities of every patriotic and law abiding citizen especially the locals close to such valuable infrastructure. The DHQ urges all to cooperate with the military and other security agencies and report suspected individuals or groups for prompt action. “The DHQ will continue to maintain a peaceful environment for economic activities to thrive while requesting law abiding citizens to go about their legitimate businesses”, he added. http://dailypost.ng/2016/01/19/desist-from-pipeline-vandalism-or-face-full-weight-of-the-law-military-warns-niger-delta-militants/lalasticlala |

Politics › Shoe-shinning: NSCDC Defends Dambazau, Says He’s “entitled To Look Neat” by catchfun(op): 8:00pm On Jan 19, 2016 |
The Minister of Interior Lt. Gen Abdulrahman Dambazzu (rtd) has assured internally displaced persons of Government’s determination to end the insurgency for them to return back home. He spoke on his working visit to the North-East to assess the condition of the affected victims of insurgent attacks presently at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camps in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States, Dambazzu, who was accompanied by the Comptroller Generals of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Prison Service and the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), applauded the efforts of the Security forces aimed at putting to an end the Insurgency. NSCDC spokesman, Okeh Emmanuel, quoted Dambazzu as saying that as a former GOC and Chief of Army Staff, he saw the prospect in the Corps and gave a nod to the training of the personnel on arms bearing and also established a synergy where the Army personnel partnered with the Corps personnel in tackling act of vandalism. Emmanuel also commented on the recent shoe-shinning video involving the Minister. According to him, “news being peddlied by some on-line media houses alleging that the Dambazau converted a DSS officer to a ‘shoe shiner’ is baseless fraudulent and malicious. “It is diversionary tactics of the evil ones to cast aspersion on the personality of the Minister. “The Honourable Minister who was on a visit to NSCDC facilities at Sauka never beckoned on any of his aides to come and clean his shoe as alleged. “If the aide carried out such a function, it means it was done voluntarily without any iota of compulsion. “The demonstration by the DSS personnel was a mark of respect for his principal since he was not compelled to do so. “It should also be noted that, a man of the calibre of the Minister, who was one time Chief of Army staff is entitled to aids that could help in ensuring that he looks neat at all times.” http://dailypost.ng/2016/01/19/shoe-shinning-video-nscdc-defends-dambazau-says-hes-entitled-to-look-neat/ lalasticlala, obinoscopy |
