Truth is, never rely solely on one internet service provider. Have as many as you can afford, so that when any of them begins to move mad, you simply switch without making any noise. Loyalty to a single operator is counter productive.
Phones › Re: Is MTN FlyX truly unlimited without FUP? Can It Really Replace My Starlink? by CavendishPlex: 8:23am On Sep 26
1. Did you get it for the advertised #30K price or were there some add-ons (BRIBES)?
Answer: Make sure you register on the MTN FlyX webpage and make your 30K payment. Once this is done and you get your reference number, proceed to an MTN major outlet (smaller stores might not have the FlyX packages) to register and pick up your device without paying any additional bribes whatsoever. Note that you might be told that you can't go home with the unit as an installer would be detailed to visit your location for installation. I objected to this arrangement and requested to fill an indemnity form. Thereafter, I happily went home with mine. Some of us were lucky to have internet access even without having to mount the outdoor unit. Mine worked with the ODU sitting pretty on my study desk.

2. How long from acquisition to ACTIVATION? Did it get activated SAME day?
Answer: Once SIM registration is completed at the MTN office, your unit should be ready to go online almost immediately. Make sure to let the MTN registration staff know ahead of the SIM registration if you need to delink any of your MTN numbers from your NIN to reduce any delays. I think because of the phone numbers linking requirement by the government, you can't have more than 4 numbers linked to your NIN.

3. Did they send you someone to INSTALL it when you go it or you had to hire a THIRD-PARTY?
Answer: If you're sure you can handle the installation all by yourself, request to fill out an indemnity form so you can be given your unit. The implication of this is that if anything happens to the unit while you set it up yourself, MTN would not be held liable for any damage to the unit. Otherwise, be patient and have an installer come and set it up for you. But ask if you'd have to pay the installer anything to avoid any surprises.

By the way, the Dual Band seems to be the DEFAULT set up for MTN 5G systems.
My 5G Router has that.
And it looks EXACTLY like the FlyX Router too.

LOL. Doesn't this just remind you of that time top guns at MTN and Airtel swore they could never do the per second billing for voice calls until Glo came onto the scene to unravel the bare-faced lies. I guess they all suddenly realized Starlink was on a dangerous mission to corner the market with their unlimited plan. Now, who says competition ain't good? The more the merrier!

Luckily, I have a decent 5G reception (4 out of 5 bars) at my neck of the woods in Lasgidi.

astOorR:
are they competing with airtel?

thought the ceo was quoted to have said that there is no unlimited data package anywhere in the world.

Phones › Re: Airtel Odu Vs Mtn Odu Vs Mtn Fiber X Vs Starlink — Which Is Better by CavendishPlex:
You can start with the 30K/50Mbps plan, and you get truly unlimited internet access. But if money is no problem for you, you can go for more expensive plans as follows:
45K/100Mbps
70K/200Mbps
100K/300Mbps
200K/1Gbps

Phones › Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by CavendishPlex: 10:38pm On Sep 25
I got the MTN FibreX from August 24 - September 23, 2026 and I had zero downtime all through as it worked perfectly. Paid for it around noon, and within 3 hours, I was already online. Having paid for the 50Mbps plan, I steadily got a download speed of 45-49Mbps. When that subscription expired 2 days ago, I decided to try out the MTN FlyX (ODU) that comes with the initial 100Mbps download speed.

So far, it's been as fantastic as the FibreX. If you're wary of fibre cuts, you can just go for the MTN FlyX. Just make sure you do the online registration and payment and then proceed to a major MTN office and not those smaller shops around. I got mine at the 30K official price at the MTN Matori office in Lagos, compared to the outrageous prices those shylock resellers quote theirs.

Phones › Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by CavendishPlex: 3:19pm On Aug 27
I use FibreOne, Ikonectt and only just recently connected to MTN FiberX on Monday. Of the three, MTN FiberX is the only one that gives about half the download speed as the upload speed. I signed up for the 50Mbps base plan on MTN FiberX and I've never gotten higher than 27Mbps as upload speed. But one thing I like about it is that it's the only one among the three that gives the closest to the plan signed up for.

Health › Re: High Blood Pressure: The Silent Killer Many Nigerians Are Ignoring by CavendishPlex: 12:42pm On Dec 12, 2025
Truth is whatever is going to happen will happen. So, why kill yourself with worry. These days, I take life as it comes.

geoworldedu:
My BP has always been within the normal range ever since I left religious matter for about a decade now.

My University days are laced with sicknesses and breaking down even during examination periods, yet I was very religious, never missing church services.

Then came my final year when I started to question everything. That was the only year I didn't write my exams in sickness. My health was firm and my result was very good.

It took me 4 years later to eventually abandon religion and its gods totally. From then till now, my BP has always been within the normal range.

What I have learnt in life is that what actually causes BP is not stress, too much work, etc, but worries. You worry about where you will spend your eternity grin Omoh, you will end up dying quicker. You worry too much about how to live to please an imaginary god, hmm, your case is Sope Otilo.

Never never worry,
Never never worry.
You're so worry about witches and wizards
You're so worry about a fake god.
You're so worry about your religion
You're so worry about eternity.

Never never worry
Never never worry.

This is the fastest delivery I've experienced ever since I started buying things on AliExpress. For items I ordered at 6.30pm on April 22, 2025 and arrived in Nigeria yesterday April 28, got cleared at customs that same yesterday and delivered to me today, April 29 making it exactly 1 week between order and delivery. I really wish things could be this smooth at all times
