In a midfield 2, play your Ndidi and Iwobi. Or pair Onyeka and Iwobi.

But in a midfield 3, be careful, you must absolutely have a genuine 1st phase ball receiver and 2nd phase ball distributor. Onyeka and Ndidi are not such.

Personnel selection is so important. Not just picking 3 midfielders coz they are available and throwing them in together hoping for magic. If there is no balance technically and tactically, it wont hold eventually.

The coach should change to a 4-3-3 0r 4-5-1 formation and sub Akor Adams and bring in Onyedika.

Chidera Ejuke should have been called up ahead of him.

I would have been excited if it was the On fire Olakunle of Krasnodar back then in 2022/23 but currently he is a lad trying to find his feet again with Novgorod in Russia after struggles for gametime ar Krasnodar and it showed when he came on yesterday.

Olakunle was not just ready for the game and the team.

It's the best move for him,that's game time in a team in the top 8 leagues in Europe. He won't get enough game time for his development at Brentford because he's down the pecking order in the CBs of the club.

Onyedika will give the midfield energy! One of Aribo/Iwobi has to leave for another tackler cos we are loosing the midfield battle that can ensure a quick turnover!

So Aribo should be left on the pitch even if his playing rubbish and tactically unbalancing the midfield, once Onyedika is subbed in and Iwobi moves forward to the AMF position,you would see improvement in the midfield.

Is there another Nwakali or has the former U17 captain improved? As someone on e said maybe they should invite him and give him 90mins or in my own opinion at least 3 matches so he can be judged. I really do not believe he is the solution. Time has a way of sorting things out eventually.

Kelechi Nwakali isn't the world class midfielder we desire but he's the closest in terms of playing style to what the Super Eagles is lacking,he needs to be called up to the team.

This is the best formation for the Super Eagles due to the number of strikers available, although I prefer a 4-3-3 formation.
