1. Supporters of National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, under the aegis of Northern Young Professionals for Tinubu (NYPT) and Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO), have kicked against consensus for the APC nomination for the 2023 elections. The groups said Tinubu has great vision for Nigeria and should be compensated for bringing Buhari.

2. Ameerah, daughter of the abducted Kaduna Kadpoly lecturer, Dr Ramatu Abarshi, has regained freedom after spending 38 days in bandits’ den. She was released on Tuesday and moved to an undisclosed hospital for medical check up, according to a source.

3. Dino Melaye, a former Senator and member of the National Assembly, has slammed President Muhammadu Buhari for asking governors under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to assist him to pick a successor. On Tuesday, Buhari told the governors of the ruling party that he needs their support in choosing his successor.

4. The Senator representing Bauchi North District, Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa, yesterday, asked former President Goodluck Jonathan to take it as an insult for being “rumoured” to be contesting for the presidential ticket again.

5. Amidst anxiety and tension across Lagos State as the total ban on commercial motorcycles, popularly known as Okada takes effect, many riders have started relocating from the State. Many of them are either relocating to their towns and villages, while others are relocating to neighbouring States like Ogun and Oyo States.

6. A former governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni, on Wednesday described as ‘mere speculation’, reports that a former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, would join the Social Democratic Party. According to him, contrary to insinuations, the SDP was not in crisis over Tinubu and was not factionalised.

7. The Independent National Electoral Commission, on Wednesday, raised fears about the 2023 elections following the 20 million Permanent Voters Cards which are yet to be claimed by their owners. INEC’s Deputy Director (Voter Education), Mary Nkem, decried the poor participation of citizens in the ongoing continuous voters’ registration exercise.

8. A 39-year-old man, Niyi Adeyemo, has accused his wife, Jumoke Bamgbola, 38, of beating him to a pulp during a disagreement at their residence on Love-All Street, Ikosi-Ketu, Lagos State. Adeyemo, who was said to be suffering from arthritis, was admitted to a hospital after the alleged assault.

9. The Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Wednesday said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would not win the 2023 election because the parties “have expired and lost their political relevance in the country.”

10. The Naira on Wednesday exchanged at 419 to the dollar at the Investors and Exporters window, compared to 419. 50 on Tuesday, representing 0.12 per cent appreciation. The open indicative rate closed at N418.21 to the dollar on Wednesday.

"IKWUANO FIRST" OUR MARCH TO THE RED CHAMBERS..

It is no longer news that Ikwuano will be fielding two of her "illustrious sons" to vie for the Abia Central Senetorial seat through the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC) platforms come the 2023 general elections. This is coming Sixty years (60yrs) after the late Senator Ukatah from Oloko represented the old Bender division during the first republic.

It therefore becomes very expedient that we thoroughly assess the situation we are faced with as a people in the interest of "Ikwuano First",since our decisions today MUST affect the standard of life of our people for generations to come either positively or negatively. To be more explicit,should we succeed in producing the Abia central senator come 2023, it would take atleast another Forty years(40yrs) for Ikwuano after her tenure,to once again have the opportunity to represent Abia central at the prestigious Red Chambers, "all things being equal" like the economist would say.

This implies therefore that accepting the senatorial position in 2023 effectively retires all Ikwuano indigenes from the age of Twenty five years(25yrs) upwards from such aspirations and service to motherland in their life time. Therefore this must be treated with the seriousness it deserves in the interest of the majority and not to grease ego's.

As a people, it is important we set a threshold of what we aspire for and the minimum we intend to achieve with this position for Ikwuano as a people using this office as a base. We must collectively decide who amongst our two aspiring sons to support in block based on their past anticedent and personal sacrifices to the development of our communities. This block support will ensure that our votes are not divided which may cost us the trophy. The result from our competitive analysis of our aspiring sons and our collective interactions with them will enable decide on what to do and the options we have available. " He who fails to plan, plans to fail".

We MUST NOT MORTGAGE the future of our children within the stated age margin mentioned earlier if in all honesty we are not sure of what will be achieved collectively using this office at this time or if we are not ready for the office as a tool for the collective development of our people.

We MUST not be parochial in determining what we want as a people.

For us to grow as a people, we must try to be very objective in setting our standards, we must minimise hatred,sycophancy and the institutionalization of mediocrity in the spirit of "Ikwuano First"

Without Ikwuano, we won't be contesting.

1. Ahead of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential primary elections, President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, begged governors elected under the platform of the ruling party to allow him pick his successor. The President made the request in his address during a meeting with the Progressives Governors’ Forum in Abuja.

2. A fresh crisis is brewing in the All Progressives Congress (APC) as two members of the National Working Committee (NWC) have asked their colleagues to team up against the party’s national chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu. In a statement on Tuesday, the National Vice Chairman (North West), Salihu Mohammed Lukman, and the National Vice Chairman (South West), Isaac Kekemeke, cautioned Adamu against taking unilateral decisions in President Muhammadu Buhari’s name.

3. The Bauchi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced preparations for a fresh governorship Primary election. The State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Yayanuwa Zainabari, confirmed this on Tuesday after a former Secretary to Bauchi State Government (SSG), Ibrahim Kashim who earlier clinched the party’s ticket, withdrew from the race.

4. Suspected bandits on Monday reportedly killed more than 30 members of the local vigilante, otherwise known as Yan Sakai in a gunfight near Gidan Dan Inna community in Auki district, Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Residents said the armed men had earlier invaded Gidan Inna village and some other neighbouring communities and rustled cattle.

5. President Muhammadu Buhari, Tuesday, left Abuja for Madrid, Spain on a State Visit at the invitation of the Spanish President, Pedro Sanchez. The President, according to a statement issued by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, was accompanied by seven Ministers.

6. The Ebonyi State Police Command says it has invaded the main camp of Eastern Security Network, ESN, located at Isu community in Onicha LGA of the State and dislodged suspected criminals. The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Chris Anyanwu, said the suspected criminals were dislodged through the joint efforts of the security operatives.

7. Ahead of the next 2023 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will, today, present a certificate of return to the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, who emerged last weekend as the party’s 2023 presidential candidate. PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, Tuesday, invited all party stakeholders.

8. The Lagos State Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction and sentencing of one Li Lei Lei, a Chinese National to two years imprisonment over mutilation of the Nigerian currency.

9. The family and friends of Lawrence Olorungbo, his wife and three children have been thrown into mourning after their decomposing bodies were found at their apartment in the Apapa area of Lagos State. It was gathered that the corpses were found after several efforts to contact Lawrence and his wife on their telephone numbers proved abortive.

10. The Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Samuel Kanu-Uche, who was abducted by hoodlums in Abia State, has said N100m was paid by the church to secure his freedom. The cleric, who spoke during a press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, said the kidnappers showed him decomposing bodies of some past victims.
