yes u can get solar charger,i here they are exensive, the only place i've seen it is at alaba. I no go put solar for my house now cos i go wake up one day i no go see am on my roof again, when i live for 2 storey building i go buy am,

The 1st tokumbo 12v 18ah i bought at oshodi january last year is working fine till today, the 2nd deep cycle 18ah i bought brand new at ikeja is working fine too but can u believe that i loaded both seperately on same load of lcd and bluray play and they both lastee same time and i bought the new 18ah 5k and the used 2,500

You guys should bear in mind that ups is not designed for long duration of use. Like 8 hours. The inverter component might get too hot.
Its designed for short back up during power failure.
To use it for long period u might need to include those tiny cooling fan inside the device.. Because all inverters has an air cooling system inside it

i have been powering my appliances with ups for more than 19hrs a day. The ups is designed for short backup and also can stand long backup too. Who says ups dont have surge protector? most ups has surge protector, just look at the back where u plug in appliances u will see its written there.
People always complain about their inverter not lasting like it used to when it was bought brand new ,its because they want to power everything in their home with it and at the end of the day they say the battery has gone bad. If u have a good refridgerator, u wont need to connect it to the inverter, atleast nepa dosent take away ur light for ever, get a good stabilizer for ur fridge or buy a small fridge that is also a freezer, its sold at lawanson, the fridge freezer is a small freezer. In one to two hours u freezer don block and it take some two day for the ice to melt,its sold at lawason for about 15k-20k tokumbn. So u dont need to always overload ur inverter.
All ur light bulb has to be changed to 15watts energy saving bulb or u construct one that the inverter can only power, i am telling nairalanders now all u need to do is dont overload,no fridge,no boiling ring,no pumping machine, no electric iron etc,
i am telling now ur battery should last 2yrs or more. Afterall nepa no fit carry light forever na

dont add the small fridge and woofer unless ur woofer is below 35watts
use ur fridge with nepa so dat ur battery will last long

Anyway, I'm sold on this idea...as well as some input from guys like lwise and ojomide.

Now my question to you guys:

I have a LED that's 74W, as well as a DSTV HD decoder, startimes and a Sony Home theatre. I also have one of those rechargeable fans which sadly doesn't last more than 30mins anymore. I don't mind turning the home theatre off but I definitely don't wanna buy a small screen. Also having a few lights on as well won't be bad.

What equipment will I require to become 'oga' like you guys are when PHCN hold the power?

ups are also smart in charging and when it detects that the battery of any amp connected to is is full, it stops charging

Nice one here ceejay80s, what about the UPS noise when NEPA takes light. You have any idea how to remove that boring alerts?

when u open the ups, use black celotape to cover the top of the small black beeper inside the ups, it reduces the beeping sound or go to computer village and buy a brand new latest model maxtron or bluegate ups.
The latest model when on battery mode beeps 17 times and then stops beeping , the next time u hear the beep again is when the battery is weak, if u are buying brand new from computer village, make sure u put on the ups in battery mode and dont plug to electricity

Thanks bro for all ur explanation. How do u connect the 20amp charger u talked about earlier to the ups and battery. That is where my confusion is.

the battery is bigger than the ups, so it sits on the floor beside ur ups, u need to buy a slightly thick red & black copper cable wire and a black celotape, connect and extend the red wire to the red wire from the ups and do same to the black wire, now, connect the extended wires to the battery make sure the red wire is connected to the positive(+) of the battery and the black wire to the negative(-) of the battery, do not connect it wrongly or else that ups toast, celotape ur connections properly and seperate the two wires so that they dont contact together, the smart charger has a negetive and positive wires to, connect them to the battery just as u did with the ups cables, now plug the ups and smart charger to ur electricity

its the smart charger that charges the battery, ups are designed to charge small batteries, it will take a very very long time to fully charge a 100ah battery with a ups, but with the smart charger connected to the battery, it charges faster and better compared to the ups

This a great job you have done but it will fine if you can state step by step how connect A to B that way any person that physics is strange to could get the configuration easily with no mistake. Please try to do that explain it step by step and also how do you charge your battery when there's no more energy in it.

u need electricity or generator to charge.
There's no charger that dosent require electricity except solar panel inverter.

there's only 2 types of charging.
U need electricity to charge the battery,
even all these expensive inverters are plugged to electricity for charging, phone chargers,ups, rechargable fans are plugged to electricity.
Once the batteries are fully charged and nepa takes ur light, the ups switches to battery mode, u dont need to unplug ur charger from the electricity, incase u are not at home and nepa brings back ur light, the charger continues charging

12v 200ah battery should be from 25-30k depends on the seller and model/brand of battery,
NOTE: these batteries are not brand new

i will advice u to buy a standing fan or table fan that is 30watts or below, ceiling fans will consume more ,a 100ah battery can power ur appliance for more than 5hrs if u can get a low watts standing fan or buy type of my fan that is just 10watts,ur av monitor and ur decoder are ok.
