Foreign Affairs › Re: US Treasury Secretary Urges Countries Not To Retaliate Against Tariffs by ceejayluv(m): 8:43pm On Apr 03, 2025 |
lexy2014: half of what? what is the tariff that you say most countries are charging for american goods?
if the other nations decide to take the "foolish route" just as canada, mexico and china did, what did the US do?
what are the tariffs being placed on US goods and which goods in question are you referring to?
what makes the route that the US has taken not be foolish? I don't know if you've come across this chart.... All hitherto tariffs above 10 percent on American goods were duly responded with half of the rate.

what are the tariffs being placed on US goods and which goods in question are you referring to? They imposed half of what most countries are charging for American goods. By all means, it's fair enough. As for Canada, Mexico and China... There Will always be a diplomatic solution. |

lexy2014: if that is the case and the trump government is sure it is doing the right thing, why is the treasury secretary warning countries not to retaliate? He's only advising them not to tow such foolish route. I don't think any nation would retaliate cos the American move was a brilliant gambit - they're charging half of what other countries are charging them... The Next step is for other countries to lower their tariff for American goods so in turn they can get a lower tariff for theirs. America wins. |

Algold: When you impose tariff what are guys thinking. So you except other economy powers to fold hands and let you have your way. You want to export to countries at the rate that favours you and tell your citizens to stop buying foreign goods. The USA barely imposed half the rate that other countries were charging for US products. The USA are not the aggressors in This case. |

SalamRushdie: You have not asked yourself what Nigeria is charging them 27 percent tarriff , is Nigeria preparing for a major offensive too?
These tarriff clearly state reciprocal , if Nigeria wants it to go away then we reduce our tarriff to 14 percent Or better still we charge 10 percent And USA will reduce theirs to 10 percent. It's a straightforward deal. |

kettykin: If Nigeria reciprocates , operating system will be out of reach, ChatGPT subscriptions will only be for the very rich, cost of drugs from US will be over the shelf.
The best for Nigeria now is just to restrategize like China did years ago It's the USA that reciprocated. Nigeria govt has been charging double of that percentage for years |
