The Microsoft founder Bill Gates and actor-turned-humanitarian Angelina Jolie are the world’s most admired people, according to a YouGov study. The 2018 list features 20 men and 20 women, all of whom are chosen as a result of online interviews with more than 37,000 people in 35 countries.
Following on from Angelina Jolie in the female list is Michelle Obama, with 8 percent share of admiration, followed by Oprah Winfrey and Queen Elizabeth II.
Meanwhile, Barack Obama, Jackie Chan, and Xi Jinping follow on from Bill Gates in the male list. The majority of women featured hail from the entertainment industry, with Taylor Swift, Madonna, Priyanka Chopra, Liu Yifei and Gal Gadot all making an appearance.

Everyone seems to love the Obamas, and it’s not just because they’re being viewed through rose-tinted glasses after Barack was succeeded as president by Donald Trump.
Indeed, there are already calls from some for Michelle Obama for run for office and create a real family dynasty.
Put simply, they’re both admired by many. However, they’re not the most admired people in the world – not quite, anyway.
Barack and Michelle Obama are the second most admired man and woman in the world, based on polling from YouGov .
That puts the pair higher than anyone currently in political office, but the top spots belong to the same people who held the honour last year.
Microsoft founder Bill Gates is the number one man, with 9.9% of those polled putting him at the top, while Angelina Jolie is the number one woman with 8.2%.
However, the most intrigue comes when you look at the country-by-country breakdown.

Which country do you think admires Donald Trump more than his predecessor? America, where he won an election less than 18 months ago? Guess again.
The only country out of 35 where Trump scored better than Obama is one which he has brought up a fair few times in public statements and, yes, occasional threats.
That’s right, it’s Russia, where he ranked 11th, just one spot above the 44th President. Incredibly, among the 20 most admired men overall, Obama ranks in the top five for all but four countries, while the US and Poland are the only two counties to have Trump in their top five.
Incidentally, Trump is almost twice as admired as
Hillary Clinton among Americans polled by YouGov, but less than half as admired as his Democratic opponent when worldwide figures are taken into account.
It’s a similar story in the UK, where incumbent Prime Minister Theresa May can’t crack the top 10 when it comes to the most admired women.
Her 2.3% of the vote is in stark contrast to Jeremy Corbyn, though, who is the fifth most admired man (ahead of Bill Gates, in fact) with 4.9%. May is even below Nigel Farage’s 2.7% share.
May outscored Corbyn among Americans, though, with 0.7% of the vote – Queen Elizabeth II (5.8%), Emma Watson (2.9%) and David Beckham (0.5%) were the only other Brits to register in the American polls.

Two final-year Mass Communication students of the Benue State University left many people baffled after they opted to write their final year exams in their wedding gowns.

According to Punch, the brides took the decision to appear in their wedding gowns as their exam, Com 402: Media Law and Ethics, was scheduled for Saturday and it clashed with their weddings. And since the exam couldn’t be shifted, the two brides stormed the hall in their gowns.

The exam was scheduled for today and it clashed with their wedding. Standard academic practice, the exam cannot be shifted so they took time off their wedding ceremony to write their final exams.

The course instructor is Dr Benjamin Ogbu, he is a seasoned academic,he published both locally and internationally.

IT IS common for people to remove their false teeth at night - but Jayne Hardman takes off her nose.
After her dog jumped up and knocked its head into her face, the injury led doctors to diagnose a rare and potentially deadly autoimmune disease, reports The Sun .
They had no option but to remove her nose and fit a prosthetic. Yet despite the life-changing surgery, Jayne, 48, is remarkably calm about it.

She said: "I take it off every night before I go to bed and put a plaster over the hole.
"Then in the morning I steam the hole and rinse it out, because it still produces mucus like everyone else's.
"Overnight, I put the nose in an old wooden Twinings tea box in the bathroom along with the first few versions of the prosthetic before they got this one just right.
"My hearing aids are also in there because the disease affected my ears.
"They're making me a summer nose which is a bit darker for when I start to get a bit more of a tan. I'm expecting that in June.
"The good thing is that my new nose is the perfect match for my skin tone, so I don't need to put any make-up on it.
"In fact the only problem is sneezing - I have to make sure I hold it if I'm going to sneeze.
"The first time I didn't, we were having Sunday dinner at home and it shot off. It ended up between my son's legs. My family are very relaxed about it - it's a source of humour for them."

Marcos Rodríguez Pantoja was once the “Mowgli” of Spain’s Sierra Morena mountain range, but life has changed a lot since then. Now the 72-year-old lives in a small, cold house in the village of Rante, in the Galician province of Ourense. This past winter has been hard for him, and a violent cough interrupts him often as he speaks.
His last happy memories were of his childhood with the wolves . The wolf cubs accepted him as a brother, while the she-wolf who fed him taught him the meaning of motherhood. He slept in a cave alongside bats, snakes and deer , listening to them as they exchanged squawks and howls. Together they taught him how to survive. Thanks to them, Rodríguez learned which berries and mushrooms were safe to eat.
Today, the former wolf boy, who was 19 when he was discovered by the Civil Guard and ripped away from his natural home, struggles with the
coldness of the human world . It’s something that didn’t affect him so much when he was running around barefoot and half-naked with the wolves. “I only wrapped my feet up when they hurt because of the snow,” he remembers. “I had such big calluses on my feet that kicking a rock was like kicking a ball.”
After he was captured, Rodríguez’s world fell apart and he has never been able to fully recover. He’s been cheated and abused, exploited by bosses in the hospitality and construction industries, and never fully reintegrated to the human tribe. But at least his neighbors in Rante accept him as “one of them.” And now, the environmental group Amig@s das Arbores is raising money to insulate Rodríguez’s house and buy him a small pellet boiler – things that his meager pension cannot cover.

Rodríguez is one of the few documented cases in the world of a child being raised by animals away from humans. He was born in Añora, in Córdoba province, in 1946. His mother died giving birth when he was three years old, and his father left to live with another woman in Fuencaliente. Rodríguez only remembers abuse during this period of his life.
They took him to the mountains to replace an old goatherd who cared for 300 animals. The man taught him the use of fire and how to make utensils, but then died suddenly or disappeared, leaving Rodríguez completely alone around 1954, when he was just seven years old. When authorities found Rodríguez, he had swapped words for grunts. But he could still cry. “Animals also cry,” he says.

He admits that he has tried to return to the mountains but “it is not what it used to be,” he says. Now the wolves don’t see him as a brother anymore. “You can tell that they are right there, you hear them panting, it gives you goosebumps … but it’s not that easy to see them,” he explains. “There are wolves and if I call out to them they are going to respond, but they are not going to approach me,” he says with a sigh. “I smell like people, I wear cologne.” He was also sad to see that there were now cottages and big electric gates where his cave used to be.
His experience has been the subject of various anthropological studies, books by authors such as Gabriel Janer, and the 2010 film Among wolves (Entrelobos) by Gerardo Olivares. He insists that life has been much harder since he was thrown back into the modern world. “I think they laugh at me because I don’t know about politics or soccer,” he said one day. “Laugh back at them,” his doctor told him. “Everyone knows less than you.”
He has encountered many bad people along the way, but there have also been acts of solidarity. The forest officer Xosé Santos, a member of Amig@s das Arbores, organizes sessions at schools where Rodríguez can talk about his love for animals and the importance of caring for the environment. “It’s amazing how he enthralls the children with his life experience,” says Santos. Children, after all, are the humans whom Rodríguez feels most comfortable with.
