NYSCRe: NYSC Batch A 2013 House by cfola: 3:09pm On Jan 16, 2013
Emmysteve: After noon pple. I just got employed as a secondary teacher in one small secondary school like that (teaching three subjects). The pay is not much but i see it as an oppoturnity to keep me engage for the mean time, improve my teaching skills and to share my knowledge with the student. I am loving it. No more idleness and browsing the internet 24/7.... To me, the days are running rather too fast, i hope to cover their syllabus before then tho.
You are indeed lucky with the teaching job. The Job of impacting is one I always love to do. I remember initially during my service year, i refused to be posted to a teaching position and got a job with a bank. However after the one year, we were called to come and do SHELL test.

All the questions were pure secondary school physics, chemistry, so the guys that taught in secondary schools during the service year were more able to easily pass the test than those of us that served at the banks. It was then I regretted not serving as a secondary teacher.

Bottomline: If you are a teacher during your service year, chances are that you will get to work with an oil company. If you dont believe me ask the MD of LNG where he served. smiley
PoliticsRe: Fashola Sacks Contractor Over Slow Road Construction by cfola: 1:41pm On Jan 16, 2013
Contract are projects that have start and finish dates. If the contractor does not meet the schedule(time frame) and other constrainst as agreed from the onset with the sponsor, then the project is failed and he should me made to pay.

If we imbibe this methods with dealing with contractors, they will definitely seat up and work wonders. But its all padi padi government.
TravelRe: Nigerians In Afghanistan, Lets Meet Here by cfola: 1:35pm On Jan 16, 2013
pretty_boi: Going through most of the posts in reply to this thread, you'd realize that Nigerians are typically dumb, naive, foolish & dull. What's wrong with going to Afghanistan? Is it not human beings that live there? I've never been to Afghanistan, but its totally wrong of you guys to judge based on "hear-say." Is it not the same way till today many people in the west believe Africans live on trees & go around naked? Is it true? Has it ever been true? Is it not the same way someone outside Nigeria hears that boko haram has been bombing some places in Nigeria & then he automatically concludes that everywhere in Nigeria has been bombed down? You guys should please grow up. Cheers.
GOD BLESS THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.
Most retrospective and mind tackling comment so far... God bless Nigeria and Afganistan too!!

FamilyRe: If Your Kid Scratched Your Car: How Will You Respond? by cfola: 8:40am On Jan 14, 2013
Will probably have to sue his school. He ought to have been thought that writing are only done on books and only with pencil and biro and crayons too...

For a kid to know how to write, 'I love you mummy or you are the best mum', that kid is smart and should know whats right from wrong. Except he isnt been thought right in school, so I pick on the school for punishment and the insurance guys too.

CareerRe: Highest Paid Professionals And Most Lucrative Profession In Nigeria by cfola: 6:18pm On Jan 10, 2013
In the advanced world, the highest paid people cut across various professions but IT and Technology sector mostly still hold sway.

In Nigeria, the shift is gradually moving away from the admin guys like accountants, bankers and paper writing people to the more practical guys like the guys at the engineering cell sites, the computer programmers and other practical professions like those of engineers.

Adding a project management certificate adds more value to these practical professionals because the people in it mostly run projects while the Admin guys run processes.

Project Manager=Consultant(practical)=Earns lump sum
Process Manager=Admin staff=Earns salaries.

Kweencess, I will suggest if you have never left your state to explore and hope NYSC pushes you to other states where you can discover Nigera more.

If it isnt because of this boko haram scourge, before now Corpers are usually well received in the North.

Wishing you the best.
CareerRe: How To Start A University Lecturing Career? by cfola: 10:02am On Jan 08, 2013
A major challenge with the university teaching system is the lack of dynamism and reality with current trends of the world's educational systems.

A situation an aspiring lecturer still sees himself standing in front of students to provide them classroom teaching is fast getting archaic.

Nowadays, most interactions are done via the Internet, School Intranet and learning portals for the students.

As you aspire to become a classroom lecturer, do not also loose focus on aspiring to become a virtual lecturer.
