We have confirmed the report which involves the Minister of Justice and the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), who said that the federal government has now approved the recruitment of about 5000 staff in the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA), in addition to 10,000 in 2017 will now be employed.

This revelation was made known by Malami, at the ECOWAS ministers meeting. According to him, the Federal Govt of Nigeria have plans to improve the capacity of the agency which will be in relation to fighting the increasing crime arte in the region.

As the meeting continued, Mr Malami urged member countries’ ministers to also look for a way to adopt a new ECOWAS Regional Drug Action Plan which will be for the year 2016-2020. This according to him will help provide a roadmap and working document for the drug control team of ECOWAS.
