buharimustlive:This is why nairaland should add a delete button. What the F ing is funny about asking you if you have been interviewed. This ain't some road show thread. |
Pwettyella:My son will still be schooled without her. Also if I remarry i expect the new wife to take care of my son. So all parties should win. |
pabloaimoh:Hello pabloaimoh, Happy new year. |
Pwettyella:Why? |
Divorce her and take the kids. That is the only simple solution. That way you save yourself the murder charge. Go to court and explain that she is endangering the health and wellbeing of your children. |
Pwettyella:My dear, you would not understand unless you were in my shoes and that of the OP. I have fought with my wife twice and its for things that started with a slight suggestion and persuasion. The man that beat his wife last week was assumed to be a savage, but when a woman simply becomes only a sex giver and not contributing to family upkeep then she needs to be ditched. A woman that cant cook, suspects all my interactions with females, does not take suggestions, lousy with sex and rubbishes my age differential and experience, is not a proper wife material. All these I did not see prior to marriage. Getting out of it would simply be to take my son and send her back. I stronlgy advice the OP to DIVORCE her. |
wonukwuru:Divorce her. You should start planning on getting rid of her. I am in exactly the same boat as you. Only difference would be the number of kids and her age. I got married 2012 after a courtship of 5 years. My wife too graduated with a third class. No drive to succeed. All she does is sit home and pray against the malvolent forces that are making me hate her. She cant cook nything other than Indomie. Lazy b itch that she is. Unfortunately I now have a son from her. Wish I could turn back time in her case. Most of tge commenters would say its your fault for not discovering this during courtship, but the truth is men are human. These problems are cleverly hidden during courtship by females. Who would see these things and still intend on marrying her. START PLANNING A DIVORCE. As you mentioned court marriage, you can petition that her influence on the family is determintal to the kids wellbeing. The court would grant it once you bring that type of argument. There is no molding her in the future. She will suck your finances and be a clog for your progress. Believe me I have developed a timeline for my own divorce. |
yinkbell:Hello yinkbell, Distance is not a determinant. You have to reach the minimum desired requirements. As for whether I have vast experience as you said, its debatable. I have two years+ experience working for an NGO. That is not vast for my perspective. The key is to meet the minimum requirements. Honest truth is that only help I can render is to point you to place where vacancies are advertised and also advice you that you should check regularly and ONLY apply when you meet the requiremnts. Case in point, I meet many of the requirments for jobs in USA by UN but dont bother applying. Why? Is it that I dont want to work there. No. I am just simply realistic about my chances. Olnly apply to UN agencies within Nigeria and only ones your profile fits like a glove. |
yinkbell:Hello yinkbell, If they have not called you after two months from submission, it means you were not shortlisted. I believe that the position has been staffed. |
My Dear, Sadly I am in the same boat with you so I cannot give you an impartial answer. The honest thing to do though is to ditch her. Life is for the living. |
pabloaimoh:They have to perform internal compliance steps which each recruitment. That is why the delay. It is not only the panelists that review the recommendendation. |
Only 1 out of 10 commentators here saw the body lying on the ground at the start of the video. Did it not occur to the 9 people that the LASTMA guy caused the death of the person. All in all, I think the LASTMA guy got his comeuppance. What he got was simply pay back for what he did. |
pabloaimoh:My Dear, it started as a nightmare. I was told it was going to be Skype and due time arrived, I waited. I had logged in, sat down properly, practiced all my lines. No call. thirty minutes later I called the HR representative and the person started making excuses about connection problems. Ten minutes later they called me on phone and asked whwether I would accept a phone interview. Mind you, I had thought it was going to be skype so I had no earphone for the phone. My laptop's speaker and mic are very good. Took me twenty frantic minutes to locate an earpeice. Tried it on and some voice frequencies could not be heard. Had to manage. So here I was, two fingers pressing the earpeice to my ear and juggling to write down the questions. If i had known it was by phone, would have had no problems. Questions were why work for WFP, what advantage gained from WFP, how does WFP help achieve my career goal. Also how do I help my underlings. Annonying thing is that I had setup a recording mechanisim for tghe skype and could not use it for phone. But all in all I pray i move forward. |
pabloaimoh:2.00pm |
chardyni:Hello All, For the December applications, I have been called for skype interview. Did the test on thirsday and seemingly passed it. For anyone intending to do the interview UN compotencies are important. |
shakol91:What I was referring to when I said that was this thread. I only said I would post details of the test and interview techniques used for other people to learn form it. And I have already started doing that with some responses. I gave details of the test and the fact that it covers the subject matter of the applicant. For me, i have an accounting backgrodund and was asked about excel and budget problems in the test. For IT positions, it should be questions on IT matters. See post by togaff. For the interview, WFP and UNICEF tested me for certain compotencies. Lost the UNICEF position due to not being fully aware of the compotencies. Hence the need to sstart this thread to help people. If your looking for job postings, then go here unjobs.org/duty_stations/nigeria/2 About being selected, it depends if someone meets the minimum requirements of experience, education and language. And honestly I would not advice that people should rush into NGOs. Most of them dont pay or pay well. I was fortunate. The only good advantage is the chances you have with UN agencies due to the NGO experience. |
shakol91:Please skakhol remind of the post. |
shakol91:Hello shakol91 Why start another thread when they are many existing on Nairaland itself. I believe that some mods (Uboma) have posted UN jobs recently. And a website called UNjobs exists. It will allow you to get daily vacancies. |
StephenJobs:For the Interview, read this https://careers.un.org/lbw/attachments/competencies_booklet_en.pdf All questions will come from some part of the compotency. i.e. They may be testing for professionalisim, drive for results etc. You must be able to develop unique instances from your past experoence for each compotency being tested. Honest truth is that it may not be a true actual instance. Just make sure it answers all the sub questions. I lost my UNICEF position because I did not have cluies on the compotencies. We respond to your PM. |
richgrp:I was called yesterday to prepare for test for a positionn I applied for in December. It was for jobs that ended 2nd december. Wiht regards to your later post, I work for an NGO and have some years of experience. This is the third time I have been called for a UN job. |
StephenJobs:Hello stephenjobs, For me to have been selected was due to experience not only CV formatting and cover letter. However send me a PM so that I can give you my email address. |
Hello All, The December applications have been called for interviews and all. Was informed that I have been shorlisted for another position I applied for in December. So I now have two open applications awaiting feedback. |
Just because I called the HR assistant, it seems I have become desperate. Mmb and jabberjawz please chill. |
uboma:Hello uboma, I assume that you are talking about the december recruitment. About the regret mails, this should roughly be the time people are getting feedback as per the 131 day average time for recruitment. I suspect that some of the recruitment staff have gone on leave. The HR assistant I kept calling has her number switched off. People should come out from the woodwork and identiyf if undertaken the interview and test of August/September. |
People that applied for the December deadline jobs should please comment and not only watch. |
Is there anyone still awaiting feedback as I am? |
Is there anyone still awaiting feedback as I am. |
richgrp:It depends if the person is recruited as National staff or international. International would allow any duty station within a country. And also different countries. Goes without saying that pay, for international staff, is dollar linked and very good. |
richgrp:The interview was in their office. |
DestinyCHILD1:Well I did not get to see that post when resesrching for the interview and test. Was luck to have known Excel else would have flunked the test. Simply desire to create a thread for future applicants. However, no one seems to have any interest. Maybe I will just return to my shell. |
jabberjawz:For the interview, the questions dealt with compotencies eschewed by UN: going above targets, working with less capable persons, drvie for results. Was asked four questions on theses compotencies. The questions usually had an objective and sub objective. Example: 1. Tell us a time you had to deal with a change in schedule. 2. Why was it important to communicate with your boss first. 3. What would you change in the process. The questions test the candidates ability to display the compotence. And the questions, are varied. What one person is asked wont be same with other round of recruitment but would be same within the potential candidates. For the test, as I had applied for budget assistant, it really paid of that i knew Excel. Questions dealt with graphs and pivottable and demand table. |
Its funny that nobody has asked about the interview questions and test questions. Is it that UN is not a desirable place to work? Is the salary not enough? In all of Nairaland I believe that this is the third post that has to do with United Nations related career decisions (I may be wrong). |
