The father is in no position to answer anything. I'm talking about the mother here, changing the child's surname. It's just a name. This will enable the man concentrate on other things rather than always having to remember it's not his son or daughter anymore.

what I'm saying is that if you're taking care of the young child then the mother should at least change the child's surname if she truly respects you, at least you accepted the child.

The man would have rejected the child and make him go become a street kid. But he chooses otherwise.

If a man marries a woman with her child and this man is also paying the fees of this said child and also taking good care of this child. Though the child is not his.

Is it fair that this man should request a change of surname from the mother of the child?

If the woman respects the man she's getting married to then I don't see any reason why she should deny this man changing the surname of her child, after all the real father isn't taking good care of the child.
