mzilakazi: Sensors provide a full view. What happens when your sensors get knocked out? Driving a badger after its sensors have been knocked out is akin to me crossing an intersection without checking left or right! You driver only see forward. |

If you take the all seeing eye, The driver only see forward.... He cant see if a tank is coming to crush him from his left or right...... Don't claim the Badger now have acoustics to detect side movement. BTR4 provides 180 degree situational awareness.

MikeCZAR: Yes, your forefathers screamed witchcraft when they were reduced to piles of useless bodies by colonists with rifles. You don't know my forefathers, so keep assuming and guessing. I bet your scientists are still guessing what to do with the prototype Badger sitting idle for over 10 years. |

MikeCZAR: In Iraq the Bradley IFV destroyed vehicles after vehicles with similar sensors(FLIR, Camera, Laser range finders etc). because It is battle tested and shows the superiority of American engineering, capable of adapting to any situation. |

MikeCZAR: A man stands in front a BTR-4. So?
The SANDF has 5 Badgers for test and evaluation.
Remember: SA deploys systems. Am I the only noticing that every 3 pages the number of Badgers increase? Thank God you said test and evaluation. Remember: SA deploys {single use} systems.BTW :the Badger wouldn't need smoke grenades as the engine puff out smoke in usable quantities. (Just trying to save you some Rands) You could use the Rands I just saved you to train one pilot. |

agaugust: Thank you.
Don't even think lucky hit, a sniper can use a 2km range sniper rifle, anti-material rifle, or automatic grenade launcher to destroy that Badger camera as it is too exposed like the horn of a cow hanging on the top of the Badger just like that, sniper snipes it and Bagder goes blind, and no windows to back up visibility.
Bagder IFV is a bad design, I will score a cheap hit, don't even need any luck to sniper burst it's camera balls . the all seeing Badger eye stands like a beacon for sniper practice. Did you see the barrel that house the atgm, it is a barrel that if anything shift or touches it. the missile will misfire, taking out its offensive capability. Patches stop comparing the Badger to the Bradley. The Bradley is battle tested and one of the best in its class if not the best. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by charlos14: 5:58pm On Jan 02, 2015 |
patches689: no - you only have 5 until you can prove you have more.
The BTR-4 has modern electronics and is rated one of the world's best today in terms of modernization.
1. Show us where it says that 2. Tell us what it has: what systems, what electronics, what stabilization.
It has nothing, it is threadbare and barren as an old VW beetle.
Nope. Those windows will be covered in combat - when bullets are flying, you wont have time to hop in and out to keep opening and closing the hatches. Driver does not need situational awareness, he just needs to see infront of him, the commander is the one who needs to know what is going on.
Your gibberish about RPG's is so nonsensical that it isnt even worth a serious response. I ask you two question's: What is cover? What is concealment?
Finally, please, outline these magical 360 degree sensors you have on the BTR. Where are they? What are they? What systems does it have?
Reminder, Badger is:
- better armed - longer ranged - superior crew capacity - better armored - better optics and systems - better comms - better mine protection - more modern (2006 BTR v 2015 Badger) Soldiers are distinguished in combat not in qualification........ How many times would we prove that unless the Badger sees combat, it remains an untested prototype with fancy pictures... Because you copied the Patria's design does not mean it is in the same class. There is something called inferior metallurgy or inferior metals. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by charlos14: 5:50pm On Jan 02, 2015 |
patches689: you have fallen into my trap!!
You said it had superior situational awareness due to windows!!
But now you say that the windows are covered in combat!!
Badger has 360 day/night situation awareness... you do not! Your BTR crew will be peering through tiny slits with their naked eyes when in combat, while our crew will have complete awareness of everything around them in all weather conditions in day or night displayed on multiple screens inside the vehical!
BTR is trash. Carries less men, inferior armor, inferior troop carrying, inferior modularity, obsolete electronics, threadbare optics, inferior weapons systems. And you only have 5 of them! In Ukraine, Sniper shots would take out your glorious all seeing sensors and then capture the troops. The BTR 4 went into combat and came back to fight another day.... seem like all South African military vehicles are for one time use just like condoms. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by charlos14: 5:41pm On Jan 02, 2015 |
patches689: First off, lucky hit - which means unlikely hit
Second, there are back up systems, including traditional fixed periscopes.
Third, what will you do when enemy bullets (or an RPG) flys through the HUGE FREAKING WINDOWS on your BTR and tares up everyone in the crew compartment. Hell, even the Ratel has armored covers which are placed over the windows in combat (trap set)
Either way, its superior to the BTR Fixed periscope implies stationary, it doesn't rotate. Would it be operated manually as they might not be enough space for the operator to move about therefore rendering your 360 degree situational awareness useless unless some old chap is cranking trying to find the target. Badger has no backup systems until further prove is shown. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by charlos14: 10:36am On Jan 02, 2015 |
mzilakazi: Badger is the world champion while BTR lacks behind with an old tech of windscreen. So what happens when a lucky hit disables your camera and 360 degree thermal imaging sensors? It is more old tech not to have a backup plan. |

What really pissed me off is the use of "Jerusalem as their capital." We shouldn't forget that Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East and hence muslims fucking hate it. Nigeria needs to get closer to the US and Israel. Supporting Palestine's impartial view is akin to supporting terror. Fvcking happy that Nigeria stood down, I wished that they had voted against it too. |

MduZA: a Nigerian friend of mine told me that an average Nigerian knows nothing about the affairs of Nigeria,in many instances Nigerian authorities conceal deals that their do particularly with other African countries(SA in particular) ...he said to me that ordinary Nigerians do not know that their country has been buying arms from SA since 1995 because they are always told that Nigeria only buys arms from America...yesterday a Nigerian fellow called Henry120 vigorously denied that South African banks will be financing buyers of vehicles assembled in Nigeria, after a link was provided..all Henry could do was to play the race game...SA has been / is assisting your country therefore for you to say south Africans are jelous does not hold water... on the government level Nigeria has been working with south Africa closely,we always see Nigerians coming to south Africa to see how things are done...let me come down to your level by saying ,Yoruba and igbo are also stupid...there is nothing you people are doing for yourself ...Chinese are buiding roads and railway lines for you, even the proposed power plant we are hearing of will be built and financed by the Chinese ..... Wtf is this? |
