Why Nigeria is turning to South African mercenaries.

http://theconversation.com/why-nigeria-is-turning-to-south-african-mercenaries-to-help-fight-boko-haram-38948

former members of the South African Air Force have been operating gunships mostly based out of Maiduguri, and have flown “a huge number of sorties, including nocturnal operations, with great success”. The mercenaries appear to have adopted a rather low profile, attacking usually at night and pulling out in the morning for the Nigerian government to claim credit. This suggests a deliberate desire to maintain a low profile and shows that the contractors are working closely with the Nigerian armed forces throughout this process.
So before all these "mercenaries" were the nigerian planes and helicopters flying themselves?

ukemeramat:
its 350mm. bros i have shot that stuff, its so out dated. nigerian army has experience but they are terribly equipped. its only few who even use the AK74. the standard is AK47 wish is so outdated. chadians where able to gain grounds against boko haram in our territory because of their fire power. those guys use standardised AK74 with complete accessories. army spec ops still use that out dated AKM's and AK47's which is very very bad. I still give thumbs up to the NAF and NN anyday, they stand out. south african army dwarfs Nigerian army anyday.they have superior fire power. Boko Haram dont fight conventional warfare, the use anti-aircraft and anti-tant guns on human beings so you dont send your army after such fools with old rickety AKM's and AK47's... AK74 would have being far more preferable.!!
Wait did you say ak74 with complete accessories?
Oh God, why do I have to deal with fools like this

The average Nigerian soldier has a clone of an AK-47 with an effective range of 350m

It is we who outrange you cool

By the time your soldiers would have walked 4 km in the hot sun with all their kits according to "training standards", they would all get captured with no strength for a fight.

Webbing.
Rifle.
15km+

Even if they have other stuff in the vehicles they should have their webbing and helmetss on.
Thank God you said Training. This men will walk 4 km, dig in and carry on an offensive that might last for days.
Fatigue prior to battle is a demoralizing factor.
The men need all the strength they can muster.

OUR ARMY HAS LIBERATED ELEVEN COMMUNITIES: Monguno, Gabchari, Abba, Jabari, Gajigana, Gajiram, Damakar, Kumallwa, Bosso, Wanti, Jeram and Kabrisundul!

SO WHY does APC still accuse the Nigerian government of losing the war on TERROR?

They are spending time TRYING to make President Goodluck Jonathan look as bad as they possibly can without revealing to Nigerians the TRUE FACTS!

We should be THANKING our BRAVE SOLDIERS for SACRIFICING THEIR LIVES to make ours safe AND President Goodluck Jonathan for endlessly supporting and equipping them!

The opposition is LOSING and APC does not want to admit it!

RIDE ON PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN! With your help, our army will ERADICATE BOKO HARAM!

The Badger uses the Patria suspension and chassis only. All other weapons and subsystems are South African. You cannot buy a Badger IFV in any other country exexpt for South Africa. Fact.

The fact that you are only finding this out now shows that you are new to this forum. Dont bother with your screenshot.....added useless information we already know.

70% of the Badger IFV is South African, we have allready sold components of the vehicle to malaysia (something only the original manufacturer can do)

No one ever disputed that it is based on the Patria AMV - infact many of us pointed that out when the combat record of the vehicle was called into question.
more like 70% Finnish. It is modular meaning it is interchangable

They emphasized so much on it that it was seemed like a Denel product henceforth, I will take any of their tales with a pinch of Salt.

Let me take a screenshot of the wikipedia page before they go and edit it grin grin
