Politics › Re: Yushau Shuaib: Femi Adesina Knows More About Dasuki – An Open Letter With Facts by Charlydot2(m): 12:25pm On Jan 01, 2016 |
Who knws how much they paid you.... It seems u hv collected your own share........ theshadyexpress: Dear Mr. Femi Adesina
Since I am a victim of association to one of the most vilified and scandalised Nigerians through media trial, this Open Letter is the best opportunity for me to put some issues in proper perspective following some of your public remarks about your old friend.
As you are aware, I have been actively involved in cementing relationship between the media and security agencies in the recent past. Immediately after my premature retirement from the public service by the Jonathan administration, I was invited by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), under Col. Sambo Dasuki (retired), to help in changing the negative media narrative on Nigeria’s counter-terrorism campaigns. It was at a period when the Boko Haram was having the upper hand in the propaganda campaign of the war against Nigeria with a section of the foreign media castigating Nigerian troops as “cowardly” “undisciplined” and “ill-trained.”
Among other things, I have the responsibility of consulting for the Forum of Spokespersons of Security and Response Agencies (FOSSRA), then Chaired by Major General Chris Olukolade, which has membership from critical public institutions including the military, security, intelligence and response agencies. We also created and sustained web portals for providing accurate and timely information to the public.
I must commend Mr. Femi Adesina for playing greater roles on the success of our campaign because as the President of Nigerian Guild of Editors, you also encouraged Editors to support our activities through occasional self-censorship to manage negative terrorists’ propaganda.
Being one of the closest Editors to former National Security Adviser, you were always sincere and frank when you met and discussed with Dasuki. You never hid your hardened support for the candidacy of General Buhari of All Progressive Congress (APC). I remember your annoyance over security clampdown on the media and when you sought Dasuki’s intervention for compensation for media organisations over their loss rather than engaging in prolonged court cases. I was with you on that occasion in his office.
Apart from interfacing between FOSSRA and media representatives at different levels and locations, which you encouraged, Sambo Dasuki too, as National Security Adviser occasionally hosted Media Debriefing sessions where sensitive information was disseminated with supported photos and video clips. Many of such sessions were classified, not for publication, where atrocities of terrorists; the gallantry of the Nigerian troops and sophisticated equipment deployed for counter-terrorism operations were disclosed or shown.
I am glad that not only were you adequately informed of those success stories of Jonathan administration’s war on terror, you even took the pain to pen an opinion article eulogising Dasuki for keeping to his promise of clearing all known terrorists’ camps before the handover to the new government.
As a respected columnist, your article of May 1, 2015 on the back page of the Daily Sun with the title “A little Late But Not too Late,” clearly exonerates Dasuki from some allegations and also reveals some concrete facts of achievements that were not being reported in the media.
It is therefore, baffling that the same Femi Adesina, could brazenly contradict himself shortly after gaining public office in his official statements. Some of us who know your cordial relationship with Dasuki and information at your disposal are indeed baffled by your dramatic turn-around in so short a time.
Meanwhile, it is necessary to point out that not all funds in ONSA are meant for arms procurement. As you are aware, under its Special Service Office (SSO), funds are expended on training, espionage, communication, special interventions for special causes including NGOs. One of the successful programmes under ONSA is Soft-Approach to countering terrorism, of which deradicalization without the use of force through economic empowerment, education, communication, rehabilitation and counselling were part. The Presidential Initiative on North-East (PINE) was conceived from the Soft Approach.
As a media consultant who has distributed over 1000 releases on behalf of the military and security agencies, I can state the following as a fact from official documents and releases:
On August 6, 2015, through PRNigeria, Dasuki named and provided pictures of sophisticated weapons bought for the military, which included: “Alpha jets, Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) APCs, Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles, advanced artillery pieces, assorted arms and ammunitions, highly sophisticated surveillance drones, T72 Battle Tanks and modification of F7 supersonic jet fighters.” Even in his official response to your statement against him on November 18, 2015, Dasuki mentioned official acknowledgements of delivery of some of the equipment by the security chiefs.
It is therefore laughable when critics claim that no weapons were purchased when a video from Boko Haram leader Shekau displayed captured sophisticated weapons after alleged mutinous soldiers fled Baga
At the twilight of Jonathan’s administration more than 22 towns in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states were recovered and confirmed with video and pictorial evidences through military press releases. Some of the towns recovered before the coming of President Buhari included: Abadam, Askira, Baga, Bama, Biu, Buni Yadi, Damboa, Goniri, Gujba, Gulani, Gwoza, Hong, Konduga, Kukawa, Marte, Madagali, Michika, Monguno, Mubi, and others. A clear testimony to some of the accomplishments was the official DHQ release dated March 16, 2015 with reference No: DHQ/ABJ/901/32/DDI and a title: “Troops Finally Rout Terrorists from Bama and Last Stronghold in Yobe.”
Even though when you confirmed in the same article while you were still a columnist that “Sambisa Forest is falling” it was actually stormed by Nigerian troops where about 300 kidnapped women and children were rescued with video evidence before the emergence of the current administration.
In an attempt to indict Sambo Dasuki, some media leak unethically expose expenditures of sensitive agencies like National Intelligence Agency, Department of State Service and others to public ridicules. This is unfair. It was for sensitive nature of issues that we guarded the recruitment of Special M Forces to help in the air while Nigerian troops recaptured the ground. Some would rather call our technical Advisers as South-African mercenaries. Even when Nigeria financially supported some neigbouring countries to participate in the Multi-National Joint Taskforce (MNJTF) it was deliberately done because they were initially reluctant as foreign powers were not helping Nigerian troops.
Since Dasuki and others are now being arraigned in court, rather than the continued media trial and planned secret trials, let the trial commence in open court to enable prosecutors and accusers present their arguments to remove facts from fictions and reality from illusions.
Sir, as you know that I have tremendous respect for you, I strongly urge you to use your good office to protect the integrity of critical institutions like security and the media from public ridicule as some patriotic officers, media organisations, and publishers are already being indicted without fair trial in the court of law.
While I vouch for your professional integrity, you know for a fact that Dasuki is kind and obediently loyal in and out of office. You know that for sure, Mr. Femi.
As we end 2015, I pray the year 2016 will not be one of media circus but one in which the rule of law will determine official actions and suspects of all kinds will have their rights under the constitution respected. This is my last article on this issue and I do this with the best of intention to protect our institutions.

Nairaland General › Re: Safety Tips To Use Around Nigerian Policemen by Charlydot2(m): 6:51pm On Dec 29, 2015 |
Police is the most coropt security agency in this country... sketcherJ: Police is our friend at least that is what they say, but we have come to question this statement now and often due to the nefarious and unwholesome activities of some bad eggs in the police force, these are some good tips for you to make sure you don't encounter or be a victim of these bad activities
1. Never run away from a policeman : Never run from a Nigerian policeman, whether you are innocent or guilty or you are automatically signing your death warrant, in many European countries, their police force are equipped with tasers and stun guns to use on running criminals or offenders, but the case is not so in Nigeria, where the policemen only have loaded guns with no safety catch,. some policemen are too lazy to chase criminals, they just let the velocity of their bullets do the running business.
2. Give them their dues : whenever you meet police men at checkpoints , and they ask you for money whether legally or illegally. Please give them, don't try to be the know it all or try to be one who is current in law matters, this might sound stupid but remember you are doing this for your life and the passengers you have in your care, we have heard and seen cases of drivers refusing to give policemen their dues and their passengers suffered dearly for it.
3. Don't joke or argue with a drunk policeman ; whenever you are at a bar and you see drunk policemen with guns. It is better for you to leave the bar club or joint discreetly ,but if you must stay, avoid the policemen like fleas and don't draw too much attention to yourself, drunk policemen are just like time bombs waiting to explode. Don't joke with them, because in their drunken state, they might not able to get the meaning of your jokes well , a drunk civilian can cause havoc not to talk of a drunk policeman with a loaded gun.
4. Watch the signs ; whenever you find yourself around a policeman with a gun whether drunken or sober, always watch for any hostility signs in them , especially when a policeman start talking about killing.e.g I feel like killing somebody today, I will shoot you, if you try me, I will show you pepper etc.. Don't wait to see if the policeman is actually bluffing, take to your heels .
5. Be cautious or avoid areas where a policeman had recently been injured or beaten : when you hear or you actually see a policeman being beaten in an area, please avoid going to the area for some time, because the policemen will come for their revenge and they either they do it directly or indirectly.. Directly ( by shooting at or battering some marked men at the area) indirectly ( by arresting the residents of the area and charging them with numerous framed offences)
6. Avoid confrontations with policemen during protest : avoid daring confrontations with policemen during protests whether peaceful or not, even if you are doing it for a just cause, don't throw stones, pure water etc at them, even if you are in the company of your friends , in a crowd or public gathering, remember a bullet has no person's name on it , in a crowd...it could hit you , or anybody close to you.

Politics › Re: Senate Uncovers N701bn Illegal Withdrawals From Natural Resources Fund by Charlydot2(m): 7:51am On Dec 17, 2015 |
The way they mention money in thise country... Is amazing.... spyx64: The Senate Committee on Police Affairs has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately cause the investigation and prosecution of illegal withdrawals to the tune of N701, 489,494,960.61, from the Natural Resources Fund for purposes outside what the money was meant for.
The monies, according to the chairman, Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Abu Ibrahim, was withdrawn between 2002 and 2012, out of the total sum of N873,400,023,790.19 which accrued to the Fund within the same period.
The Fund, established by the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) in 2001, derives its funds from 1.68% of the Federation Account for the development of alternative natural resources outside oil and gas.
In a statement by his media aide, Gabriel Agbonika, the Senate committee chairman expressed dissatisfaction over the refusal of federal government to utilise the fund since 2001 for the purposes for which it was established, rather they were expended on contracts and programmes outside of its purview.
The statement reads in parts: “It has been discovered, however, that since its inception, the fund was never appropriately utilised for the purpose it was established.
“For example, it has been discovered that out of the total amount of N873,400,023,790.19 which accrued to the Fund between 2002 and 2012, the sum of N701, 489,494,960.61 was illegally paid put from the account for programmes/projects that have little or no relevance to natural resources development.
“In 2012 the Senate, which acted on my sponsored motion, mandated the Public Accounts Committee to investigate the funds, stressing that the report of the committee has shown clearly how the account of the Fund was misapplied.
“The purpose of the Fund is to provide possibility for every part of the country, other than oil and gas, to benefit from the principle of derivation; therefore I am calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate thoroughly what has happened to the fund’s account between 2012 to date, with a view to appropriately determine the exact position of the fund.”
PMB Writes Senate, To Present 2016 Budget Next Tuesday
President Muhammadu Buhari has written the Senate, seeking its permission to present the 2016 budget next Tuesday at 10am.
Senate President Bukola Saraki read the president’s letter on the floor of the Senate yesterday.
In a related development, the Senate also passed the 2016-2018 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper and approved the exchange rate of N197 to a dollar for the 2016 budget.
Pegs crude at $38pb for 2016 budget
The upper legislative chamber also pegged the oil benchmark price of 38 dollars per barrel as well as N5.7billion for the non-oil revenue projection for the 2016 budget and urged the federal government to sustain the current tempo towards increasing independent revenue and diversification of the economy.
While commending the federal government for the introduction of the Treasury Single Account (TSA), the Senate called on the government to establish a database and possibly a single salary account for all its employees in order to streamline and reduce its personnel cost.
The senators also called on the president to clearly capture details of the funding of the infrastructural development stated in the MTEF in the 2016 Appropriation Bill, and urged the federal government to retain arrears of the MTEF as well as increase tax collection to a level closer to the accepted tax/GDP ratio of the economy.
It was also the consideration of the Senate that there would be a need for collaboration with the Executive for an accelerated passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill, particularly those sections with implications on Joint Venture funding by the federal government (JV Cash Calls). The Senate equally approved daily crude oil production of 2.2000mbpd.
Reps To Debate, Pass 2016-2018 MTEF, FSP Today
The House of Representatives will today debate the report on the 2016-2018 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and the Fiscal Strategy Paper sent to it for consideration by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, December 8, 2015.
According to Speaker Yakubu Dogara at plenary yesterday, the House will also approve the documents today, which will therefore set the stage for the presentation of the 2016 Budget Estimates to the National Assembly by the president on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 10am.
A letter addressed to Dogara by Buhari, dated December 16, 2015, which was read on the floor yesterday, requested a slot of 10 o’clock on Tuesday morning for the budget presentation.
Reps: Power Transfer, PPPRA Amendment Bills Pass Second Reading
A bill seeking to institute a legal framework for smooth transfer of power from one government to another and a Bill for an Act to amend the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (Establishment) Act 2004, have all passed the Second Reading stage in the House of Representatives.
The first of the bills to scale the hurdles at plenary yesterday was a consolidated “Bill for an Act to provide for Smooth and Orderly Transfer of Power from one Government to Another, and a Framework for the Documentation and Transmission of Handover Note from one Administration to Another and to Ensure the Publication of Same in the Official Gazette and for Other Matters Related Thereto” jointly sponsored by the House majority leader, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila and Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama.
Gbajabiamila (APC, Lagos), while leading the debate on the bill, said that if the bill becomes an Act, it will facilitate hitch-free transmission of power from one government to another.
Gbajabiamila blamed series of accusations and counter-accusations recorded during the transfer of power from the immediate past administration to the incumbent one on the lack of legal framework to guide the process.
According to him, the bill makes provision for both a serving president and the president-elect to have their teams on both sides who will ensure a smooth transition process.
“This is necessary for them to review the handover notes and acquire knowledge of the activities of ministries, departments and agencies,’’ he said.
On his part, the minority leader of the House, Hon. Leo Ogor (PDP, Delta) praised the bill, adding that it would address a lot of administrative issues related to power handover.
Meanwhile, Speaker Yakubu Dogara referred the Bill to amend the PPPRA Act 2004 sponsored by Hon. Mark Gbillah (APC, Benue) to the House Committee on Commerce for further legislative input preparatory to its eventual passage into law at the Third Reading stage.

A statement issued by the Governor’s Principal Secretary, Nweke Clement, said the suspension followed alleged unruly behaviors and acts unbecoming of a public office holder, which portrayed the state in a bad light.
The statement directed the suspended Special Adviser to immediately hand over all government properties in her possession to the most senior civil servant in the office.
Mrs. Nworie was last week redeployed back to the state to take over as Special Adviser on Talent Development in the office of the Secretary to the State Government.

For what nnam.... DONSMITH123: By Levinus Nwabughiogu
As early 7am on Monday, the vicinity of the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC had already been flooded with men and officers of the Nigerian police who mounted road blocks and restricted both vehicular and human traffic.
This was even as the secretariat’s private security men conducted mild search on the passers-by.
Car owners who visited the place were told to seek parking space elsewhere away from the immediate parking lot at the threshold of the national office.
The developments were to the chagrin of the virtually all staff of the secretariat who were yet to know the reasons.
Vanguard however scooped that Mr. Yahaya Bello, the second runner in the first primary election of the party that threw up late Abubakar Audu as the former governorship candidate of the party in Kogi state would be visiting the party office today.
It is not certain whether he is the possible replacement for late Audu.
Another possible reason for the blockade, Vanguard gathered, was to prevent any large scale protests as it was learnt that various interest groups supporting various interests from Kogi were planning a large scale demonstration for their candidates.
It will be recalled that since after the inconclusive November 21 election in Kogi and the subsequent demise of Audu as APC candidate, various interests had come up rooting for different persons as possible replacement for Audu.
This has stirred up controversies in APC.
Amongst those jostling to step into late Audu’s shoes included his first son, Mohammed Audu; his erstwhile running mate, Hon. James Faleke who had written to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the APC, asking to be declared Governor-Elect and the second runner, Yahaya Bello.
Though speculations have been in rife that the party has settled for Bello against all odds, it has not however made a categorical statement on the matter.
When contacted on Saturday, the Acting Publicity Secretary of the party, Comrade Timi Frank told Vanguard that the decision of the party would be made known today (Monday).
“We are still consulting on the issue. We would take a final stand on the issue of Audu’s replacement on Monday and we are definitely going to issue a statement on the issue”, he said.

Christianity Etc › Re: Today Mark's The First Sunday Of Advent by Charlydot2(m): 8:00am On Nov 29, 2015 |
Yes oooo.... apogeez: What Is Advent?
Advent is the period of four Sundays and weeks before Christmas (or sometimes from the 1st December to Christmas Day!). Advent means 'Coming' in Latin. This is the coming of Jesus into the world. Christians use the four Sundays and weeks of Advent to prepare and remember the real meaning of Christmas.
There are three meanings of 'coming' that Christians describe in Advent. The first, and most thought of, happened about 2000 years ago when Jesus came into the world as a baby to live as a man and die for us. The second can happen now as Jesus wants to come into our lives now. And the third will happen in the future when Jesus comes back to the world as King and Judge, not a baby.
Some people fast (don't eat anything) during advent to help them concentrate on preparing to celebrate Jesus's coming. In many Orthodox and Eastern Catholics Churches, Advent lasts for 40 days and starts on normal last Sunday of November after Christ the king and is also called the Nativity Fast.

May God help me to enter in his paradise Amen!!.. DjAndroid: End Time Delusions: According to bible, in the end times, expect widespread deception, counterfeit miracles, and the appearance of false prophets. Each of these evils will contribute to an atmosphere that will deceive an untold number of people throughout the world. The Antichrist, possibly a charismatic Muslim with a fake Jesus as a sidekick, will convince his followers he is the answer to the world’s problems. Paul tells us that those who become caught in the Antichrist’s web of deceit will be guilty because they freely choose to enjoy evil while denying the truth.
1. False Bible teachers would be money hungry : They would be smooth talkers, have many followers, and slur the Christian faith (2 Peter 2:1-3) See some at: www.fakemessiah.com
2. Homosexuality would be increasingly evident at the end of the age (2 Timothy 3:3)
3. Earthquakes would be in diverse places (Matthew 24:7). The Bible said there shall be "great earthquakes".
4. Stress would be part of living (2 Timothy 3:1)
5. Many wars would erupt (Matthew 24:6)
6. People would forsake the Ten Commandments as a moral code, committing adultery, stealing, lying, and killing (Matthew 24:12)
7. There would be a cold religious system , in denying God's power (2 Timothy 3:5)
8. Men would substitute fantasy in place of Christian truth (2 Timothy 4:4). This is so evident at Christmas when the birth of the Savior is lost behind the myth of Santa Claus.
9. Deadly diseases would be prevalent (Matthew 24:7). The worldwide increase in AIDS deaths is almost inestimable. Over 160,000 Americans die of cancer each year. Another is the issue of Ebola which claimed alot of lives.
10. The fact that God once flooded the earth (the Noahic flood) would be denied (2 Peter 3:5-6). There is a mass of fossil evidence to prove this fact, yet it is flatly ignored by the scientific world because of its uncanny implication.
11. The institution of marriage would be forsaken by many (1 Timothy 4:3)
12. There would be an increase in famines (Matthew 24:7)
13. Vegetarianism would increase (1 Timothy 4:3-4)
14. There would be a cry for peace (1 Thessalonians 5:3)
15. The possession of Jerusalem would be at the center of international turmoil (Zechariah 12:3)
16. Knowledge would increase (Daniel 12:4)
17. There would be hypocrites within the Church (Matthew 13:25-30)
18. There would be an increase of religious cults/false teachers (Matthew 24:11 & 24)
19. The future would seem fearful to many (Luke 21:26)
20. Humanity would become materialistic (2 Timothy 3:4). The love for material things will increase. Cherishing the things of the world.
21. There would be many involved in travel (Daniel 12:4)
22. The Christian Gospel would be preached as a warning to all nations (Matthew 24:14)
23. Jesus said Christians would be hated "for His name's sake" (Matthew 24:9). Recent bombings worldwide has proved this point.
24: And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. (Luke 21:25-26).
25: Youths would become rebellious. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy (2 Timothy 3:2)
26: Men would mock the warning signs of the end of the age saying, "for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation." (2 Peter 3:4). The Bible even reveals their motivation, they love lust (verse 3). They fail to understand that a day to the Lord is as a thousand years to us.
God is not subject to the time that He created. He can flick through time as we flick through the pages of a history book. The reason He seems to be silent, is because He is patiently waiting, not willing that any perish, but that all come to repentance.
Be wise today take a decision!
