A former Governor of Borno State, Senator Modu Sheriff, on
Monday, said he has nothing to do with the arms-laden plane
detained at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.
Sheriff, in a statement made available to journalists in Maiduguri,
said a report linking him with the plane was sponsored by his
political enemies looking for ways to drag him in the mud to gain
political edge in the fight for the soul of Borno State.
He said his attention was drawn to a publication linking him with
a secret visit to the airport.
The former governor said, “I read the report with consternation,
much as I felt scandalised to be linked again to an issue I
absolutely knew nothing about. For me, the publication has a ring
of a conspiracy meant to drag my name in the mud.”
“I, hereby, use this means to say to my adversaries anywhere
they may be that their evil motives to soil my name and hard-
earned reputation will not stand. Those who are drawn into the
conspiracy to hack me down under any guise will always fail as I
am certain that they will continue to get soaked in the whirlpool
