Pls we should be very very careful about all this so called engineer.
This is something of recent from the EAST where a Client took an architect's sketch n 3d provoking the architect which made him cut off from him and the man even went unpaid.
The next he did was to get his so called engineer,and the work started as normal stuff but on getting to the roofing level the whole building came down.
Wait and see what he now did,he went back to the architect he has stolen from and hurted with police men in his office to arrest the architect.
I know the architect shall win.

Pls we have thousands of quacks engineer like water in this nation ooo.

I'm not an engineer at all only an architect with a over a decade experience as well.

Its a shame, this is where the engineering society of Nigeria need to step in. Seek to criminalise anyone who is not qualified to be an engineer and send out the appropriate task forces to enforce it. Its not rocket science.

Sorry was late Kokogbo is the most expensive hard wood, funny to let you know that 2x6x12(sawmill) is sold @1400each to site(Lagos). Now let apply simple mathematics in 1 2x6 you will get 3 2x2, 2 2x3 & 1:1 2x2 & 2x4. cutting for a line is 30-50naira depending, on the wood I am sure you will get a mixture of wood.

If purpose is rent means you are a retiree using it as means of lively hood. Money spent for building for the purpose of rent is mob back after 10yrs or more.

Hello sir. I am yet to be able to distinguish between granite and gravel. In my location, they break the rock chippings from rocks/mountains around the area. We buy directly from the labourers who break them and collect them in heaps. Are these considered granites or gravel? I strongly believe its the former though.

The picx attached is an example of such chippings.

Thank is granite, granite are crush limestone while we have two type of gravel, Bush gravel and wash gravel actually wash gravel is from bush gravel but is better than unwashed gravel.

Good day all. Please i need help! I have been a silent reader here. Oga mufutau55 and all the experts in roofing nogging.
I intend roofing a block of 2 flats (4 bedrooms at the front and bedrooms at the back flat) and the carpenter gave me an estimate for the roofing wood nogging and the ceiling nogging for a king size of 20ft. (Location Benin city).

3by4 = 35 pièces (unit price, #1900)
2by4 = 270 pièces (unit price, #970)
2by3 = 60 pièces (unit price, #850)
2by2 = 560 pièces ( unit price, #600)

Just get price of 2x6 wood, most times both 2x6 & 3x4 are same price. a cut is N30-50 to what you want. i think this help you out.

Please what can go wrong if I suspend
my roofing project after the woods have been put in place.

The wood work has been completed but I don't have the funds to buy roofing sheets till July salary is paid.
This means exposing the wood work to elements of weather for roughly 60 days.

I am not entitled to salary advance and I don't want to borrow for the roofing.

Please advise.

Its very easy, if you 100% sure of payment day, discuss with whoever you intend using, likwise any other that can accept your payment day. exposing for 2months is much in this present season. Making correction you will spend more.

If you did the foundation, you can acertain the integrity, if you purchase it my brother another foundation is required, if foundation has starter bar a good architect like darenyx(did one impressive one for me in Ogun state) & many will work well with it.

The location is very important, but if in Lagos your 1m will only do block work(ground floor) provided you using the existing foundation you did.

If a new foundation area like Ikeja, Maryland, Oshodi, Agege, Iyana Paja, Ikotun, Abule Egba, Igando to Ogun state you 1m will do new foundation without back filling & dpc.

Availability will be another issue to consider. In this case we had to source from nearby markets to reduce cost. I always use sawmill wood in most projects, except where its difficult to do so. Sawmill wood could be reused up to twice again.

Sawmill wood can be use up to 6times 3x one side, depending on how careful the carpenter is... Good job bros.

True, we are buying these for N850, not saw mill, this is local saw.

People hardly understand that you buy more wood with the local process wood there by at the end it equal to buying sawmill wood also the local are not mature wood enough to withstand concrete mixture.
