Politics › Re: President Jonathan Missed The Point - Fashola by chernest2002: 9:34am On Mar 17, 2015
Boscojugunu:
From the statement credited to the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity. Dr. Reuben Abatti over the comments of His Excellency, Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, on the deployment of police during the visit of the president, it is obvious he is ignorant of the traffic and security menace, his principal constitutes whenever he visits any part of the country.mr mouth piece of apc,why should the chief security officer like fashola blame president for his failure, just like the issue of bokoharam instead looking for solution as one Nigeria apc members will only take side with the criminals to discredit and criticise the president as if only one man can govern Nigeria, mind you that if apc continues with this system they can't even achieve half of what gej have done,if they ever win election in Central which i know will not happen in 2015.

It should also interest the ‘Vuvuzuela’ of President Jonathan that during these visits, which most of the times are for campaign hustles, the entire Police and other security network are put on high alert to pay attention to the presidential visits leaving the citizens vulnerable to the reckless gallivanting of the visitor. Abatti must be sleeping or indulging in his usual pastimes not to understand ‘route lining’ where every available policeman on duty is deployed to man routes where the President would pass through.

It is not the statement of the Governor that is unintelligent, the unintelligent thing here is the inability of the President to weigh public interest above personal ambition. The unintelligent thing here is not to know the importance of the Police as an institution that deserves adequate funding to carry out its function of protecting life and property. The unintelligent thing is the Federal Government dodging its constitutional responsibility of which the Police is one of them.

Governor Fashola is a very responsible Governor who put the people first ahead of himself, and this he has demonstrated over the years. He made reference to the dead policemen because he feels responsible to them. At the event, he prayed for the repose of their souls and enjoined the audience to stand with him in a one minute-silence over the fallen heroes whom he concluded died in the cause of serving their country. Abatti could not comprehend why Governor Fashola would be shocked at the death of three policemen; we have not had such an experience in the past two years here in Lagos where policemen are killed by armed robbers. This is a different situation where it took the death of almost 20,000 citizens before someone started to take action.

When the ocean surge was going to wipe out a whole community within the Lekki area, Fashola was there. When the Dana aircraft crashed in Iju, Fashola was not only there, his arrival at the scene was prompt, and for the first time in the history of Nigeria, we saw a systematic and methodological approach to emergency management. Mass DNA was conducted to identify the charred bodies of the victims. Trauma and psychological centres were established to attend to the families of the victims. As recent as few days ago, Fashola was at Papa Ashafa and Agege communities where rainstorm wreaked havoc. When Abatti’s principal was holed up in Aso Rock Villa with his tails between his legs during the outbreak of the Ebola Virus in Nigeria, Fashola’s face was the succour and hope Nigerians saw. He was the only person the victims and survivors saw. So, this vuvuzuela should be courteous in his choice of words.

We are, however, not surprised. Abatti is a serial reckless talker that likes listening to himself, and only thinks after talking. Latter converts like him acts up to become more Catholic than the Pope because of the fear to the past after the allure of office. His recent unguarded statement about General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd) is still very fresh. If the retired General had not been a statesman, only God knows where Abatti would be by now. It's time someone close to this garrulous man tells him to start measuring his utterances.

Politics › Re: Buhari’s Campaign Crumbles by chernest2002: 10:06am On Feb 05, 2015
Sapeleboy:
I saw this on Facebook today. Buhari’s Campaign Crumbles:
APC VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE Prof. Yemi
Osinbajo SET TO ABANDON Buhari OVER LACK
OF TRUST.
It’s fight to finish as a cold war between the
ex-dictator and his running mate gets worse
by the hour
Complexities behind an alleged cold war
between the presidential candidate of All
Progressive Congress (APC), General
Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd), and his running
mate, Dr. Yemi Osinbajo are getting worse,
and have divided the campaign train into two
combative segments, International Guardian
reliably gathered. A campaign senior officer
who spoke to our field reporters on strict
anonymity confirmed the tension, and
indicated that Dr. Osinbajo and some of his
close campaign allies have been excluded in
several major stakeholder meetings lately.
The war between the two presidential
partners started shortly after Buhari
presented Osinbajo, the professor of law and
former attorney general and commissioner
for Justice in Lagos state, as his running mate
mid-December. Dr. Osibanjo had expressed
regrets that Buhari did not trust him but had
no choice selecting him because he was
pressured by the party chieftains, including
former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu,
and a cohort of south west governors, Bisi
Akande.
Another bitter moment soon emerged in the
same month when Buhari was speaking
during a campaign rally in Owerri, Imo State
and wrongly introduced his running mate as
“Professor Yemi Osinbade.” The news
permeated the social media fuelling
speculations that the ex-war lord may be
battling age-related heath issues.
To worsen the situation, the speculation that
Buhari’s may not make it through a four-year
term if he won because of a visibly
deteriorating health made it to the media and
fuelled a suspicious relationship between
General Buhari’s camp and Dr. Osibanjo.
Buhari had allegedly accused the Tinubi/
Osibanjo camp of praying for his death – a
situation similar to the late President Shehu
Musa Yar'Adua when critics accused former
President Olusegun Obasanjo of nominating
a sick candidate to jeopardize chances
allotted to the Northern zone in the party.
Less than 10 days to the election, issues of
lack of trust and collaboration between
General Buhari and Dr. Osibanjo has become
even more noticeable. It was alleged that
Buhari’s camp secretly trails and records all
campaign appearances by Dr. Osibanjo to
micromanage his strategies, speaking lines
and comments. Consequently, the General it
was alleged had summoned Dr. Osibanjo
several times over comments and stories
attributed to him in the media, International
Guardian reliably gathered.
The last straw over a strained relationship
occurred a few days ago after a secret
meeting between General Buhari and Chief
Tinubu was revealed in the media. Tinubu, it
was gathered had purportedly negotiated
with the General over allocation of oil wells in
the Niger Delta as compensation for
electioneering support and huge financial
investment in the party from the stage of
negotiations for merger and registration as a
political party to the entire campaign
engagements.
Party stalwarts allied to Dr. Osibanjo were
furious that they were excluded from the
meeting. Tinubu’s camp were also furious
about the outcome of the meeting which
resulted in lengthy hours of horse-trading
and arguments. Buhari, it was alleged, had
not been transparent with the group over his
collaboration and agreement with key
members of the Northern Leaders Political
Forum. “Buhari has not invested a kobo in
this campaign from the word go and should
not even talk in this meeting,” an aggrieved
member from Tinubu’s camp said.
As of press time, Buhari’s campaign is
reported to be in tatters, pitting two major
groups in a cold war over pre and post-
election allocation of power and resources.
Key party members contacted by
International Guardian’s campaign reporters
declined any categorical comments. “Parties
do have issues – yes we have issues just like
other campaigns, but those will not stop our
victory come February 14” a member
said.
confirmed,obj/atiku presidency was Romeo and Juliet to compare with what buhari and osinbajo will be that is if they will ever smell asorock.

“Even Jonathan did not finish his PhD course but when it was presented we stated that, it does not matter but many people do not know because it was PDP thing.” – Obasanjo

Former Nigeria President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has predicted that the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari will be the next Nigerian President which why those who are afraid of him are creating so many obstacles on his way, Saying “a general is always a general.

Obasanjo, who was reacting to the controversies generated over the school certificate of General Buhari said: “I see Buhari as the next President and Jonathan is aware of that, and that is the reason they are hitting him everywhere to put confusion in his camp. But a General is always a General… “

The former President said the truth of the matter is that Jonathan is aware that Buhari is qualified to contest for President election but that “some hawks with Jonathan do not want him to contest because they believed that he will win and come for them.

“The issue (of Buhari’s certificate) came up in 2007, and we investigated and found out that his WASC is with the military and that was why he was allowed to contest in 2007. Buhari cannot listen to anyone about his certificates because as a General of Nigeria Army, he will speak when he chooses, not by Femi Fani Kayode and Okupe asking him.

Fayose and other corrupt people including Kashamu do not want Buhari because of his anti-corruption slogan.

“Even Jonathan did not finish his PhD course but when it was presented we stated that, it does not matter but many people do not know because it was PDP thing.”

omenka:
Jonathan is over pushing his luck. I thought they said Buhari is a serial loser and would certainly lose this time as well. What's with all the clandestine manoeuvrings to frustrate him?? Certainly even Jonathan himself could see his end is nigh. If he thinks he's gonna stand alone in this contest like he did in the PDP "coronation" he's got another thing coming.

I know enormous pressure would be mounted on the Military not to release the said certs given that they come under the command of the president, but one thing they should know is the chaos that would ensue upon tinkering with disqualification of Buhari would make the subsidy protests look like a new yam festival!!

Jonathan should put a leash on his desperation. Nigeria is bigger than his ambition!
