The north got a lot of desert looking regions and most settlement are space so the claim of the number surprises me.! They don't have the number, in all elections children are even compelled to vote to justify the false claim plus number rigging even a former colonial lord confessed to that. If true federalism is implemented all these false claim will be needless

zilokontah:
I dear say the North do not possess the number as they claimed. They should have allowed Odimegwu to conduct a credible population after plugging the porous border.
The result would have shocked the world and indeed the North, who have carry on for too long with this injustice.

A land mass of what 80%, the contigous waters of Nigeria South, means the South is far larger than the North, if it consider a land mass of over 80% unhabitable desert/arid nature.

If they are already laying the groundwork for the SNC report to be ignored, they should come out straight with it instead of hidding under the guise of population statistic fraught with fraud.

Let me tell u this and i will be straight to the point..............
1) we need a conference that will determine if we Nigerians trully want to be together or not.
2) If No, the process of our disintegration.
3) If Yes, the basis for our togetherness
4) A proper;y constituted conference whose decisions wont be subjected to the NASS (that means it must be SNC)
Whatever imbalance u are afraid of now will be sorted out there and then. the NC never assured that for ur info. The moment Jonah-daft made it a no go area, i knew it was just another waste sojourn like OBjs.

Don't let your hate for Jonathan kill you o! how did Jonathan repeat OBJ's experiment when these was given as the excuse to conduct another NC in Jonathans Era

"Gbonigi said that the 2005 national conference was not people’s conference as it did not discuss the peculiar needs and desires of various ethnic nationalities that made up Nigeria.

He said Nigerians would this time around have what he described as a “people’s conference” that would come up with “peoples decision.”

He said, “We are going to have a people’s conference that will come up with the people’s decision. We are going to have a conference that knows and understands one another. This conference will respect the peoples’ culture.”

Clark also said, “The 2005 national conference was not based on the Will and representations of the people of Nigeria. Former President Obasanjo and the governors handpicked the delegates. The 2005 national conference was not the desire of the people of Nigeria.

“Under the planned national conference, there would be no second class citizen. This conference would be conducted based on the equality of all Nigerians.”

My question is if the North for me its not APC but the north (AREWA) that's condemning the confab move then I ask what is their recommendation to create a balance in the system which is what the confab strongly projected! If this is not either of two things will happen
-the north will continue to want to suppress other regions in order not for the confab recommendation to actualise or people will get really fed-up and there will be lots of problem in the system in the future. If the confab is not implemented even fighting corruption will remain a big issue

You are right other regions have so caused divisions among us -Easterners , it usually from the north/west such divisive sentiment originate from. They use the old divide and rule system of governance which developed countries have long dropped.
often brain washing the SS regions and causing them to be divided because as long as they remain un-united its easy to keep milky off the region.
Nigeria claim to copy America in many ways ,even in their democracy, but the economy of Nigeria has remained a mono economy, its survival /budget etc hugely depends on only one source of income which is OIL. Unlike the US economy that is very diversified.
America produces far more oil than Nigeria from state of Texas yet other states are self actualizing and viable on their own and making their own income and not minding oil in Texas, the confab address all this, the reason for the clamour of federalism of all regions and all states.

EasternLion:
Who saw they are using North to say what they want to say?
We Arewa, we North.

But when it comes to us
.N/Delta, we Igbos, we Ijaws, SS, SE, Igbo nation.

Why not collectively answer East?
"Oh no, Igbo man wants our oil, Igbos will dominate us Niger Deltans".
Ok OK then use ur Original name Biafra.

"I am not Biafran oh, if u come to Cross River and shout Biafra, u will not go back alive".
"Biafra is for Igbos, we are N/Delta, I want resource control and amnesty money".

"Oh no, Nnamdi Kanu is spreading hate and seditious, we enlightened Igbos don't support him".

The North will always have their way.

PoliticsJonathan’s Confab Anti-north, Says Arewa by Chiaka(op): 12:01pm On Jul 31, 2015
The North has no faith in the National Conference organized by the outgone administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, according to the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF).

The group, in a statement issued in Kaduna State on Thursday, declared that the conference was skewed against the geo-political zone.

The declaration was in reaction to a statement credited to prominent Yoruba elder, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, who has consistently urged the Muhammadu Buhari administration to implement the recommendations of the conference.

The Yoruba socio-political umbrella organization, Afenifere, to which Chief Adebanjo belongs, had consistently advocated the convocation of a National Conference as the solution to Nigeria’s many problems.

During the last presidential campaign, the Afenifere had declared bloc support for the reelection of the then incumbent President Jonathan citing its fears that a government headed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) might not implement the recommendations of the conference.

Adebanjo had in an interview with a newspaper recently, said: “My own view and the view of Afenifere are that a northerner will not be so disposed to changing the constitution because they are the beneficiaries of what we are complaining about. Let them disprove that.”

He had added: “About 500 distinguished Nigerians recommended a new constitution unanimously and nobody has come out to say what we did there was wrong.”

The ACF, in a statement on Thursday, disclosed its objection to the conference.

The statement was issued by the Northern group’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Muhamma Ibrahim.

The group admitted that the North participated in the conference, but added that the constitution of its membership was lopsided and skewed to favour the South over the North.

It said: “The selection process of delegates by President Jonathan’s government to the confab made the North, that has a population of 75,268,686 people (NPC 2006) with a land mass of 730,885 square km (80%) as a minority with 189 delegates while the South with a population 65,151,458 people (NPC 2006) with a land mass of 193,438 square km (20%) as a majority with 303 delegates.”

It continued: “Despite this glaring injustice and disadvantage, the North, as a region did not only participate in the overall national interest of Nigeria but also stabilised the conference on crucial issues of national unity. The 2014 Confab was therefore not a platform for constitution making and did not unanimously recommend a new constitution for Nigeria as claimed by Chief Adebanjo.

“The learned Chief knows better the process of constitution making and certainly the delegates to the 2014 Confab did not qualify for such process, as they were not elected as representatives of the people but selected or nominated by government and interest groups.”

It added: ”The delegates therefore did not have the legitimate mandate of the people to draft or recommend a new constitution for Nigeria and did not even do so.”

The ACF wondered whether it was the fault of the North that Jonathan, who had ample time to implement the recommendation of the confab, failed to do so.

It added: “The 2014 Confab, in which ACF fully participated made about 600 far-reaching recommendations on policy issues, legal and constitutional amendments to the 1999 Constitution as amended and submitted the report to the former President on August 21, 2014 and not a new Constitution.

“President Jonathan had ample opportunity to implement some of the policy issues or even forward some of the recommendations that require legal and constitutional amendments to the National Assembly, but did not do so.

“Was it the northern interest that stopped him, being a southerner or a southern interest? The Confab report, being a public property, is subject to the usual due process of implementation through the three arms of government and not singularly by President Buhari as Chief Adebanjo is canvassing.”

It cautioned against inflammatory statements from respected elders that could jeopardise the corporate co-existence of the nation and described Adebanjo’s comment as embarrassing and absurd.

The creation of Geo-political zones has smacks of deceit and aims to divide Igbo from their brothers.

Question to ponder about...... Is the South South one tribe?... No

What's the reason for creating zones? .....To create in-house fighting among brothers.

Why is the south East the smallest zone? .....To cage the Igbo.

Am I alone ?.......No.

Only of recent Ameachi stated that he was Igbo..... Wike claimed to be the new Ojukwu. Please search on Google before casting aspersions on me.

On a concluding note..... Stop saying South South....... It's the creation of the Fulani and other parasites to divide us.
