People have been talking about the looting of Nigeria's resources (including me) from time immemorial.

And the fact that it is a Niger Delta man still doesn't make it right.

Infact.....are those defending Tompolo interested in development? Because if they were....they would also be asking why some 12 years after derivation was gotten via the court...and after massive amounts of money paid to Millitants and state governments....there has been no development, youth unemployment is still high, and poverty is too low.

You see....God did not give us this oil, or our other resources to share the money. God gave us these resources to use them to develop and to be better than what we were ten or twenty years ago. One thing that bothers me about this amnesty...and indeed about the whole resource control vs no resource control debate...is that everyone seems to be interested in getting money shared among the elite. Meanwhile...the petrol is not enough....and the things that could provide us with far more money than petrol....industry and technical education/development...no one is doing anything about it. Am sure that even if we gave ND 100% Control....the situation would get worse. (And it will also get worse if we still keep the status quo).....because Nigerians have a flawed idea of development.

So, I am not pleased with Tompolo.Not because ND does not deserve better...they do...but because Nigerians as a whole...and that includes the Niger Delta...think that development means having enough money in your account to spend on luxuries. No. Development involves developing solutions to the problems that one faces via innovative thinking. But Nigerians, including Niger Delta people., the ''evil'' Hausas and everyone...don't want to think., and to use their hands. They want to chop and chop and chop. Well.....oil is becoming redundant. Time we started thinking about that tomorrow.

I hope you understand what I am saying.(Sorry....but I have said this many times...and people promptly think I am arguing against derivation/resource control. No. I am arguing for a change in mindset...so that good gifts do not turn to chaff in our hands. And I too am from the South South...).

I just hate selective judgement. Pointing hand at tompolo as if the rest of other things and people having oil stacks is so right is so right. The whole thing should be wholistic and not selective judgement.....and noticing that they see nothing wrong with any region having stacks in oil and make noise when any ND son wants to enjoy same. Its sickening!

i live at aba and most times we have light for eithteen hours everyday, when bad twelve hours. Thesame case with owerri. If you go to anambra especially onitsha,akwa and nnewi they usually have light upto twenty hours a day. Enugu's own na die hard. I have noticed that eastern states normaly have light regularly than other zones in nigeria. Pls can someone tell me why?

This isn't the same thing as theft. What we lose daily is about 40000 or less. In Russia, they lose 150000Bpd to theft; go to Angola and others, it is like that. These are intl racket. Some Nigerians have suddenly forgotten where we were before the protection contracts. With the drop in oil prices, if we go back to less than 700000; the country would be finished. The North/SW need to be very careful. As we speak, the North gets more allocation on the skewed LGAs they have, which are majorly desert. Nigeria needs to be restructured.
