Russian taxi app hacked with hundreds of drivers ordered to same location, causing huge traffic jams in Moscow

Hackers targeted a Russian taxi app on by sending hundreds of drivers to the same address, causing huge traffic jams in the city of Moscow amid Ukraine invasion.

Yandex Taxi, a Russian app similar to Uber that allows users to order cabs to their location, was reported to have been targeted Thursday morning, September 1. The company later confirmed the incident in a statement.

'On the morning of September 1, Yandex Taxi encountered an attempt by attackers to disrupt the service — several dozen drivers received bulk orders to the Fili region,' the company said in a statement to Forbes.ru.

As a result of the hack, taxis flooded Moscow's Kutuzovsky Prospekt - a major road that runs east to the west leading into the centre of the Russian capital.

The company said its security department 'immediately stopped attempts to artificially' order the taxis. However, this was not enough to stop the gridlock.

'Drivers still spent about 40 minutes in traffic jams due to fake orders. The issue of compensation will be resolved in the near future,' the company said.

No one has taken responsibility for the hack, but it comes as Vladimir Putin's forces continue their invasion of Ukraine.

Group of Unknown Gunmen nabbed in Anambra; casket, military wears, other items recovered

The Anambra state Joint Task Force (JTF), has cracked down the camp of the Unknown gunmen (UGM)at Ukpor Nnewi South Local Government area of the state.

It is reported that they recovered cars, charms, coffin, and military wears from the suspects.

In a video circulating the internet, one of the UGM simply identified as Fifty, said he had killed four people since joining the deadly gang. He revealed that they killed security personnel after gathering intelligence that they were being traced.

Fifty while explaining their modus operandi revealed Double Lion, Evans as members of their group responsible for abducting and killing residents especially security personnel in Anambra State.

Dubai police arrest Africans in viral video fighting in a residential area

The Dubai Police have arrested some Africans who were engaged in a heated argument in their residence at late hours.

The group of African people appeared in a viral video on social media platforms while fighting in a public place and damaging properties.

In a statement released, the Dubai Police says a criminal case has been registered against the suspects and they will be referred to the public prosecution for further action.

''The Dubai Police warned against such unacceptable behaviour and urged the community members to report such negative behaviour through ‘Police Eye Service’ on Dubai Police app or by calling the emergency hotline 999.

The Force also warned the public of publishing or forwarding clips to avoid legal accountability according to article 52 of the UAE Federal Law No 34 of 2021 on countering Rumors and Cybercrimes.

The law stated that whoever uses the information network to announce, disseminate, re-disseminate, circulate, or recirculate news or data, or broadcasts any provocative news that would incite or provoke public opinion, disturb the public peace, spread terror among people, or cause harm to the public interest, the national economy, the public order, or the public health shall be punished with at least one year of imprisonment and a fine of not less than Dh100,000.''

A South African man dies after drinking a full bottle of 35% spirit in two minutes in a bid to win £10 in a liquor store challenge.

In the early hours of Wednesday the 13th of July 2022, a man named withheld visited a store in Mashamba village in Limpopo and took part in a challenge to see who could drink a bottle the fastest. He drank the whole bottle of the 35% spirit before collapsing.

After falling to the ground, the man, aged between 27 and 35, was rushed to hospital where he was confirmed dead by the doctors.

The prize for the drinking competition was R200 in cash, the equivalent of around £10.

The police spokesperson Brig Motlafela Mojapelo said, '” Police in Waterval outside Louis Trichardt have opened a case of inquest following an incident of apparent misuse of alcohol that took place at one of the local liquor outlets at Mashumba Village where the patrons allegedly participated in what they called a 'drinking competition.

'The winner who could consume the entire bottle of Jägermeister within a specified time, would get R200 cash.

'One of them immediately collapsed thereafter and was taken to the local clinic where he was certified dead'

A video of Yoruba actress Victoria Ajibola aka Omolocal lamenting bitterly in a bank branch over her missing money has sparked reactions on social media.

The movie star in her statement revealed that the bank has been nonchalant about her predicament and even called security on her Ajibola added that she has never taken more than N150k in a day from her account and N1m just disappeared within thirty minutes.

Imo police nab suspected killer of Ahmed Gulak one year after

The Imo State Police Command has, on Monday, said it arrested one of the suspected killers of Ahmed Gulak, a former Political Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Parading the suspect, Anosike Chimobi, 38, from Umuedo, Ahiazu Mbaise council area of the state, the Police Spokesperson for the State Command, Micheal Abattam, disclosed that Chimaobi was nabbed following a sophisticated investigation carried out by the operatives of the command.

Gulak was killed on May 30, 2021, on his way to the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri.

Abattam disclosed that the suspect had already confessed to the crime, adding that he would be charged to court.

According to him, the suspect was among the “terrorists that murdered Ahmed Gulak on May 30, 2021, along Imo State Airport Road. Being involved in the burning of Aboh Mbaise, Ahiazu Mbaise, Ezinihitte Mbaise, Ihitte-Uboma, and Obowo police stations, he confessed to being among the terrorists who attacked the onions truck at Enyiogwugwu junction Aboh Mbaise L.G.A, Imo State, on May 30.

“He confessed to involvement in the attack and murder of many police officers and collection of their service rifles. He also confessed to the kidnap of one Jude Nwahiri at Eke Nguru Junction Aboh Mbaise L.G.A, Imo State, under the command of one Ebube Uche Madu aka virus, who is on the command’s wanted list.”

Church members at Arch Angel Rapheal Catholic Church, Police Barracks, Garki Abuja, Sunday, apprehended a suspected terrorist who tried to gain access to the church.

A member of the church in a video which has since gone viral said the suspect entered the church in a Peugeot car and would not stop when the church security asked him to, raising suspension.

According to the video, the suspect drew towards where the men were having their meeting, insisting he was there to see a parishioner, however, they eventually stopped him.

The parishioner in the video claimed the suspect, who was dressed in hijab and police cap, initially said he was from Abia state but could not say precisely the part of Abia state.

“After much interrogation he later said he had relatives in Ethiopia and threatened to call the Inspector General of Police (IGP) but in this church we have those working with the IGP, we have the FCT Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO). Also, in his car incriminating things were found like drugs,” the parishioner further stated in the video.

Reacting to the incident, the FCT PPRO, DSP Josephine Adeh, said: “A middle-aged man was accosted by some of the worshipers after the mass, while the men’s fellowship was holding a meeting. The main object of suspicion was his dressing and the manner in which he drove in.

“Preliminary investigation, however, shows he had just returned to the country and had come into the barracks to seek an old friend whose address he cannot clearly remember.

“The church was not attacked, no arm or prohibited item was recovered in his possession except for a face cap customised “police “ which is neither an approved kit nor an accouterment in the Police dress order.

“He was also wearing a faded suspected US Army Fashion type camouflage trousers. Though fear and panic erupted due to recent happenings in some parts of the country, normalcy was immediately restored to the situation as the police were on ground to swing into action.”

The Spokesperson said, “While the investigation continues, members of the public are urged to go about their lawful duties without fear or apprehension.

“Once again, we advise the good people of the territory to eschew the habit of promulgating news blown out of proportion or outrightly fake in narration. We shall continue to ensure that the FCT remains safe and peaceful for all and sundry.”

Report says there is a tension as Scores of children were found in an underground apartment of a church in the Valentino Area of Ondo town, Ondo State, South-West Nigeria, on Friday evening.

It was gathered that the children were allegedly kidnapped and kept in the underground apartment of the church.

A source said victims were over 50 while the police had rescued them and arrested the pastor and some members of the church.

In a viral video, the children were seen in a patrol vehicle of the police who took them to the police station.

In the one minute, 40 seconds video, a voice was heard saying, “They are kidnapped children found in the underground cell of a church in the Valentino Area of Ondo. The pastor and some members of the church have been arrested and were also in the patrol van of the police.

The state Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, said the victims had been taken to the State CID in Akure headquarters of the command.
