For others, who hadn’t been inaugurated since the proclamation of the House, he said, “Their constituents have been complaining and have come to us that they want their voices and concerns to be heard at the House. So, people who are willing to provide quality representation have to be elected to bring the matters of the distraught constituents to the floor for debate and legislation, where necessary.” He noted that the House also passed the 2020 Appropriation Bill and affirmed the removal of the suspended Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Area, Alhaji Aramiyau Momoh, after receiving the report of the investigation committee on the appropriation of funds and undermining the financial rules and regulations of public service. “The indictment was hasty and ill-motivated as there have been conflicting statements on the saga coming out of the United States. This sudden purported indictment of Barrister Allen Onyema who has been doing business for decades in the US, and for many years he has never been found wanting until now, raises fundamental questions about the bad timing and the growing suspicion of many Nigerians over the motive behind targeting our own distinguished Allen Onyeama. “Onyema has over the years built a reputation of integrity, a promoter of peace and a hard-working man, and cannot be allowed to be dragged in the mud by a western conspiracy.” Also, the group’s secretary added that though the group was never against the process of promoting transparency and accountability, “yet, we will not fold our arms and watch helplessly and hopelessly as one of our finest is being coerced and pulled down in broad daylight.” Adamu said, “We are putting Nigerians on notice that Barrister Allan Onyema is been under trial for standing up in defense and unity of Nigeria. He is being blackmailed and this won’t stand. “This trial is politically motivated and we will not allow it to stand, we have mobilized our members across the Northern States for the peaceful rally at the US embassy.” Onyema was accused by the United States Department of Justice for allegedly laundering over $20 million from Nigeria through United States bank accounts in a scheme involving false documents based on the purchase of airplanes. https://ebeanonews..com/2019/12/onyema-indictment-northern-youths-to.html?m=1 |
NORTHERN youths have revealed plans to mobilize its members across the Northern States for the peaceful rally at the US embassy over the alleged US$20million indictment of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Barr. Allen Onyema by United States Department of Justice raising concern and suspicion over the alleged indictment and questioning the timing. The Youth under the aegis of Arewa Youth Patriotic Front in a statement said the Air Peace Chairman, was allegedly being framed in collaboration with some Nigerians to undermine his business interest across Africa. National Coordinator of the group, Mr. Bagudu Joseph and the Secretary, Yusuf Adamu, said Air Peace Chairman is a man who believed in the unity of the country and threatened to reveal the names of those Nigerians who were collaborating with foreign partners to tarnish the image of the Air Peace Chairman. Joseph also said the group had concluded plans to hold a peaceful rally at the US embassy in Nigeria to prove that Mr. Onyema was not guilty of the conspiracy. https://thenationonlineng.net/onyema-youths-threaten-to-reveal-names-of-nigerians-allegedly-collaborating-with-foreign-partners/?fbclid=IwAR349wgZcPSXOQPGciwOtLARQiP4IF_JleS3BPGK8IgHEsfSjybtfhICt8U

Opera-founded payment startup, OPay has launched yet another vertical; a car-hailing service called OCar. This is coming just a day after it announced a $120m Series B funding round led by Chinese investors In its beta phase for now, OCar, which can be accessed via OPay’s mobile app, will operate both as a ride-hailing and ride-sharing service in eight major Nigerian cities including Lagos, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Benin, Kaduna, Abeokuta, and Ibadan. So far, only Lagos has been activated, according to OPay. OCar’s choice of launch locations hints at an attempt to compete with Estonia-owned ride hailing company Bolt (formerly Taxify) which also has presence in the same states (excluding Kaduna and Abeokuta, where locally-founded first-mover, Pickmeup operates ) and more recently Calabar and Akwa Ibom capital, Uyo. American-owned Uber, however, has presence in only Lagos, Benin and Abuja. A reliable source revealed to Ebeanonews that unlike others the company’s reportedly endeavour , OBus, which started out with branded buses and in-house drivers, OCar will operate a third-party business model — much like its rivals Uber and Bolt. OCar is the latest addition to OPay’s suite of services, including OFood, ORide, OList, OLeads, OTrike and OBus, in its race to become a super app . As is industry standard practice, intending OCar drivers are to sign up with their cars on the platform, get verified and accredited before onboarding. But then, a few questions arise. What would be done differently to address possible driver misconduct constantly reported about other platforms ? Is OPay willing to take extra measures in training its drivers? OCar has one similarity with Bolt, in that it charges drivers a 15% commission while Uber maintains its 25% rate. With this, it is possible that OCar’s trip fares would fall within Bolt’s range. But there’s a higher chance that the former would include a lot of incentives, as has been the norm with sister platforms, ORide and OTrike. All these point to possibly even lower fares on OCar. In fact, OPay claims that the 15% commission reduces to 3% after drivers have done 20 trips within the same week. This, and the ₦200 ($0.55) per trip promo, may possibly cause a massive shift of drivers and customers to the newcomer. Nonetheless, a competitive face-off with first-comer Uber, and Bolt in terms of pricing and commission cannot be overlooked. But how long this remains is not assured. Recently, an OPay agent confirmed to Ebeanonews, following a complaint of high fare charges, that the startup has halted bonuses for ORide on the platform. Although OPay’s plans to deploy its recently acquired funds into scaling, expansion and improvement of frequently used services on the platform, it is not certain if OPay intends to fit OCar into the same space with the likes ORide, OFood, airtime and utility payments. The latter are more of everyday touchpoints for the average Nigerian, as opposed to cars which are perceived a luxury. Ebeanonews reached out to OPay for clarifications on the OCar business model but as of press time, we are yet to get an official response. A response from Ridwan Olalere, OPay senior direction of operations (ORide): “We are on a constant path to provide solutions to all Nigerians. We are rolling out this service in cities where residents do not consider it a luxury as it serves as a primary source of transportation.” https://ebeanonews..com/2019/12/opay-set-to-lead-uber-bolt-in-nigeria.html?m=1

According to him, the legislature was deprived of deserving infrastructural amenities while the executive and the judiciary “have continuously enjoyed the provision of new infrastructural facility from successive administrations in the state.” He said, “During the long stretch of military reign in Nigeria, the legislature, which truly represents the governed, was eroded but it becomes more painful that since the commencement of the Fourth Republic in 1999, the legislature has not been given the required attention in terms of infrastructure. “While the Ogun State legislature has been using the same building, which lacks modern amenities and where four members share one rest-room facility (toilet), since 1979 despite being an arm of government, other arms of government, such as the executive and the judiciary have continuously enjoyed provision of new infrastructural facilities from successive administrations in the state.” |
Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, has complained that four lawmakers share one toilet facility at the assembly complex. Oluomo said the inadequate infrastructural amenities at the assembly complex had made the leadership of the assembly to ask four members to share one toilet facility. He also said three to four officers of the assembly at Grade Level 14 also share one small apartment as an office. The Speaker stated these while presenting the prototype of the proposed new assembly complex shortly after the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, had laid the 2020 budget proposal before the house on Tuesday. Kanye West says that parents need to protect their children from being ‘indoctrinated’ into embracing lives of vapid meaninglessness by the media and the entertainment industry. The music icon was speaking to an audience at Joel Osteen’s church in Houston during one of his Sunday Service events. He began by pointing out that many famous people are in service to Satan and not God because they value money and power above all else. “You start to feel like Satan is the most powerful and you start to feel that if you service God in life it means you will not prosper and the only way to prosper is in service to fame,” said Kanye. The devil stole all the good producers, the devil stole all the good musicians, all the good artists, all the good designers, all the good business people and said you’ve got to come over and work for me,” he added. Kanye reassured the audience that a shift was happening and that his conversion to Christianity is a major part of that shift. “Jesus has won the victory because now the greatest artist that God has ever created is working for him…All of that arrogance and confidence and cockiness y’all seen me use before, God is now using for Him,” said Kanye. The Jesus is King singer then turned his attention to cultural degeneracy, telling the crowd; “We have our own daughters and we’re still rapping about trying to hook up with somebody’s daughter.” He went on to urge parents about the necessity of “protecting your kids from the indoctrination of the media, the thousands of thousands of images that are fed to children by the age of 6 or 7.” Kanye added that images are “purposely mixed in to lower the kid’s super power and esteem so that they can be more susceptible to consumption and feel that they need to consume and become a part of the robotic numeric system that controls so much.” With words like these, is it any wonder Yeezy is hated by much of the mainstream entertainment industry? https://ebeanonews..com/2019/12/kanye-west-protect-your-kids-from-being.html

In a statement, Francis Enobore, spokesperson for the service, quoted Ahmed as describing the incident as “tragic and most ill-fated”. He said, “Early this morning, the Controller-General of Corrections, Ja’afaru Ahmed, received with the deepest grief, the unfortunate death of five inmates of Ikoyi Medium Security Custodial Centre, Lagos, as a result of an electrical fault in one of the cells. This is indeed tragic and most ill-fated. “The CG, who visited the scene of the incident with the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, noted that it was the wrong time in the history of the NCoS to experience such a disaster. More details... IPOB had on Tuesday accused the police of setting fire on the home of Ejiofor in Oraifite, Anambra State. In a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the group wondered why the Police would go further to raze the lawyer’s home even after killing two unarmed and innocent civilians. It maintained that the carelessness of the police in handling the petrol they used to drench Ejiofor’s home and nearby businesses before setting them on fire led to the fire that gutted a police van. The statement read in part, “The unprovoked Nigeria police and army invasion of the home of our lawyer, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, barely four days after the painful burial of his elder brother is proof that those running Nigeria have descended into the abyss of iniquity from which they may never recover. https://ebeanonews..com/2019/12/breaking-police-declare-nnamdi-kanus.html?m=1 |
The Anambra State Police Command has declared Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu wanted. The Commissioner of Police, John Abang, made the declaration on Tuesday in Awka, the Anambra State capital. Abang said the declaration of the lawyer and other IPOB members wanted, was in connection with the alleged murder of two police officers in Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state on Monday. He said, “I’ll like Nigerians to know that Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a member of the proscribed IPOB, has been declared wanted. “I’ll seek the cooperation of law-abiding Nigerians, East, West, North, and South that wherever they find this individual, they should report to the nearest police station for possible arrest and prosecution based on the rules and laws of Nigeria.” The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, had in a statement said two police officers were killed by the suspected IPOB members while others were inflicted with machete cuts in the incident. https://punchng.com/breaking-police-declare-nnamdi-kanus-lawyer-others-wanted/ |
Deeper details... It added , “ The meaning of this is that even when only a few people turn out at three polling units on election day , thugs can hijack the materials , record humongous figures and are only required to tick the voter register and they are home and dry . PDP celebrated this position of the Supreme Court and should just keep quiet for now. “ We urge the PDP to show that it is serious with legislative interventions in our electoral systems by enjoining her members to lead the moves in the National Assembly for relevant amendments . PDP had the opportunity to reform the electoral system , they failed and when they left office , they used the Supreme Court to torpedo the little gains of the introduction of the Smart Card Reader which Nigeria had made . “ We call on all Nigerians to lend their voice and put pressure on their representatives in both chambers of the National Assembly to urgently pass the Electoral Act Amendment Bill so that we can have electronic transmission of votes , electronic transmission of accreditation figures from the Card Reader and possibly electronic voting so that thugs will not have a role in our electoral system since our security agencies have failed woefully to stop them from their unpatriotic trade . ” https://ebeanonews..com/2019/12/parties-chairmen-disagree-with-pdp-over.html
|
The Forum of Chairmen of Nigeria Political Parties on Sunda disagreed with the Peoples Democratic Party over its recent position on the efficacy of the Smart Card Readers for elections . It blamed members of the PDP for what it called the naturalisation of the card readers in relation to voter register. The Chairman of the National Unity Party , Chief Perry Opara , made the forum ’ s position known in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja . Opara said it was the argument of members of the PDP before the Supreme Court that has made record of the card readers inadmissible in court as proof of accreditation . He urged the PDP to show that it is serious with legislative interventions in the nation’ s electoral system by enjoining her members to lead the moves in the National Assembly for relevant amendments . The statement read , “ It is clear to even less political minds that the Smart Card Reader ’ s efficacy has been politically and judicially neutralised and it must be mentioned that this was largely done by members of the PDP who argued before the Supreme Court against its relevance in relation to the voter register. “ The Supreme Court only agreed with the arguments of the PDP and therefore neutralised the Smart Card Reader . The PDP should therefore not run with the hare and hunt with the hounds . The PDP cannot be crying wolf now when it earlier celebrated the judgments which nullified the Card Readers as a victory for democracy . “ The position of the Supreme Court , which for now is the law , makes the voter register the final proof of the accreditation of voters , hence , making the record of the card reader inadmissible in court as proof of accreditation . . https://punchng.com/parties-chairmen-disagree-with-pdp-over-card-readers/ |

The statement read in part, “ We are intent on bringing Diezani to justice and despite the spirited efforts of the commission in ensuring that she returns to Nigeria and face trial , she has been held back in the UK by an investigation that has spanned almost four years without any signal about when she will be available in Nigeria for prosecution. “ The EFCC has been frustrated over Diezani , a development that prompted it to seek her extradition to Nigeria , so that she can have her day in court . ” The former minister is alleged to have diverted billions of dollars and purchased choice properties in several parts of the world . Diezani ’ s cash and properties as well as those linked to her , worth over $ 250 m , including jewellery, have been forfeited permanently to the Federal Government by an order of court . https://ebeanonews..com/2019/11/diezanis-dominican-republic-diplomatic.html
