Manager Jurgen Klopp says seven more Liverpool players could have made the PFA Team of the Year and insists "my team is the team of the season".

The Reds saw Andrew Robertson, Trent-Alexander Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and forward Sadio Mane selected in the PFA team, which is chosen by players.

Manchester City had six players included, while Manchester United's Paul Pogba completed the line-up.

"There could have been four, five, six or seven more involved," said Klopp.

"They played an outstanding season in so many moments. For me, my team is the team of the season anyway."

BBC Sport pundits Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink all agreed Pogba should not have been chosen.

Liverpool's Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah and Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - who have both scored 19 league goals this season - were left out, as were Tottenham's Harry Kane and Chelsea's Eden Hazard, with 17 and 16 Premier League goals respectively.

"Mo would have deserved it again," added Klopp. "He's up there again with the top scorers and scored so many incredibly important goals for us.

"Gini Wijnaldum plays an incredible season, 100 per cent. Jordan Henderson is in a shape where if they would vote today then he would probably be in and stuff like that, so it's good."

Klopp spoke to media on Thursday having watched Manchester City return to the top of the Premier League with victory over Manchester United on Wednesday.

The German says he was "calm" after the fixture, which left his side second in the table and requiring City to drop points in their remaining three games if the Anfield club are to win a first league title since 1990.

"For me all is good and the decision is not made yet," added Klopp. "It's not that last night was the final game of the season. It was just another game for City. They deserved to win.

"It was the result I expected. United tried whatever they can, first half especially. Unlucky in one or two moments, but over 95 minutes it was clear they can't stand up to City at the moment.

"This is our first time trying to be champion, not the last time. Last season we were 25 points behind. It's all good and we will carry on.

"We don't need to summarise the season. If we win it, we win it. If we don't there are no regrets as long as we give our best, and that's what we've done all season."

Asked how United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can rebuild his side, Klopp answered: "They didn't help us, why should we help them?"

Manchester City's Raheem Sterling said he hopes to set an example for younger players as he received an award for his stance against racism in football.

The England forward has criticised newspapers' portrayal of black players and wants stronger punishments for fans who racially abuse players.

He was honoured at the BT Sport Industry Awards on Thursday.

"When the next generation come through, you have to set the example," the 24-year-old said.

"Coming through at Liverpool I had people around me like Steven Gerrard I looked up to. Looking at him I thought what can I do within myself to be half the person and player he was.

"You take little things and each year, try and develop not just on the field but off it.

"I was just speaking about my personal experiences, I didn't expect it to get so much attention.

"I just wanted to bring it to the attention of my audience on Instagram. It's been really pleasing to see people listening and trying and do better."

England manager Gareth Southgate presented the award and said Sterling's actions had made "a massive impact on British society".

"I've worked with Raheem now for around five years and to have seen his maturity as a person has been lovely to watch," said Southgate.

"This is about his own personal improvement, his improvement on the field and his recognition he can make a difference off the field. That has been increasingly powerful over the last six months and had a massive impact on British society I think."

Sterling suffered allegedly racist abuse from Chelsea fans during City's 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge in December, prompting an Instagram post in which he questioned newspapers' portrayal of black players.

In January, it was revealed he wrote a letter to a young City fan who was racially abused, urging the supporter "stand tall, don't let them take away your courage".

He was also racially abused during England's European Championship qualifier in Montenegro in March, along with international team-mates Danny Rose and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Earlier in April he was hailed as "an iconic British sports star" and "a trailblazer" after being named sportsman of the year at the 2019 British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has accused the US of acting in "bad faith" during the summit earlier this year with President Donald Trump, according to the Korean Central News Agency.

He also said peace in the Korean peninsula would depend entirely on Washington.

Mr Kim made his remarks at Thursday's summit with Russia's President Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok.

President Putin accepted an invitation to visit North Korea, KCNA reported.

The visit would take place "at a convenient time," the news agency added.

Kim Jong-un reportedly told Vladimir Putin that "the situation on the Korean peninsula and the region is now at a standstill and has reached a critical point".

He warned the situation "may return to its original state as the US took an unilateral attitude in bad faith" during recent talks.

It comes a week after Pyongyang accused the US of derailing peace talks.

Negotiations between the two countries broke down during a summit in Vietnam in February, with no deal reached about North Korea's nuclear weapons.

Those talks reportedly stalled over North Korea's demand for full economic sanctions relief in return for some denuclearisation commitments - a deal the US was not willing to make.

During Thursday's summit in Vladivostok, President Putin attempted to act as arbiter, saying Mr Kim needed international security guarantees if he was to end his nuclear programme.

Such guarantees would need to be offered within a multinational framework, the Russian leader added.

"We need to... return to a state where international law, not the law of the strongest, determines the situation in the world," Mr Putin said.

Mr Kim greeted Russian officials warmly when he arrived in Russia on Wednesday.

He praised the summit as a "very meaningful one-on-one exchange," and said he hoped to usher in a "new heyday" between Moscow and Pyongyang.

Zinedine Zidane was left largely disappointed as his Real Madrid players failed to make the most of their chances in a draw at local rivals, Getafe, although the Frenchman did reveal one good thing for his team from La Liga match on Thursday night.

The Real Madrid boss made a number of changes to the starting line-up, most prominent of which was the inclusion of Brahim Diaz along with Gareth Bale and the in-form Karim Benzema in a three-man attack that had seen Benzema score each of Real’s last eight successive goals in the league.

There would be no extension of that record for Benzema, though, while none of his other team-mates were able to rise to the occasion either as Los Blancos played out a 0-0 draw which leaves them six points behind second placed city rivals, Atletico Madrid, on the table.

And while regretting his side failing to take advantage of the chances that came their way, Zidane mentioned that keeping a clean sheet was the only positive for the team after the match. “The good thing is the clean sheet. The rest…” said Zidane after the match.

“You want to make changes [off the bench] to improve things. They didn’t create what I hoped they would. That’s how it is,” the Real Madrid boss added. Zidane saw his players get five out of eight shots on target in a match they had 67% of possession.

Still, it was not enough to break down a Getafe side who now remain in fourth place with 55 points ahead of former Europa League holders, Sevilla, by virtue of a better head-to-head record.

“We had chances to score many times and we didn’t,” the Madrid boss said, as quoted by AS. “We’re a bit annoyed with the result. We deserved a lot more. The players played a very good game. We were good defensively and we weren’t at risk. We were just missing the goal to win the game. We’re a bit angry for not winning.”

While Real Madrid now look set to finish the season in third place behind Barcelona and Atletico after going a third consecutive away game without a win, Getafe could find themselves in the Champions League next season if they remain ahead of Sevilla until the end of the season – there are just four matches left to play.
