Hi i have bsc in Accounting. I would love do an Msc in bus admin or Bus mgt.

Can that be possible or they don't have it?

unilag does MBA, master of business administration, which every bachelor's degree can do.

so with Bsc in accounting you are eligible for it. and anotrher important criteria is you must have 5 credits in your O'Level

which includes English and mathematics

I want to laid a disclaimer

I see some people are already coming here to give information that they are not certain of or dont know anything about.

I dont know such people and no one here is working with me.

Dont get information from people who dont even understand having a master degree talk-less the intricate details of career management advisory info.

If you allow such people to give you advise, then you are on your OWN.

if people tend to give you advise ask them on what authority are you speaking from?

its only in Nigeria someone dragging with jamb gives advise to masters students.

A word they say is enough for the wise.

with all due respect kalan, no information i have given out is baseless and they all come from the enquiries i make from the school of post graduate studies university of Lagos.

if i'm not certain of any information, i explicitly state that i'm not sure to avoid misleading the potential applicants.

needless to say, i have a master degree from the same institution and i undertsand the terrain.

The sole intention has always been to unite and create a platform (watsapp) where the potential applicants meet, interact and ask questions as regards the admission process. This was achieved last year and testimonies abound.

Good morning Guys

For those of us working and think that it is impossible to combine masters with work, your assumptions are wrong.

unilag masters is very flexible such that you can combine a full-time program with your job as lectures aint usually everyday.

so you have no excuses not to pick up the form.

Thanks in advance!

yes you can actually combine your msc with work.though it is going to be a bit stressful. mostb fulltime courses, lectures are not usually everday,

sometimes twice in a week.

so everything is possible

This is not correct. I tried to check but got 'password mismatch' but I have confirmation that I got the admission. I finished from the same faculty at Unilag so I know my way.

Just wait for the admission list. That is the only thing certain.

Thank you.

Very correct.

However, if you checked and got username and password mismatch it simply means that either your department is yet to upload successful candidate names on the site or you were not successful with the admission.

More department are being uploaded.
Lectures starts next week.

How to check your admission status

login to spgs.unilag.edu.ng

Scroll down and click on current student

Put your application number which is in your exam pass or application form you printed after registration, it begins with an alphabet.

Put your password which is lowercase of your surname.

If your dashboard appears containing information like

Your passport
View biodata
Update biodata
Etc

It simply means you were admitted.

Goodluck

I suggest we put this Watsapp group idea aside. If the previous sets used Watsapp group I'm sure we would have be lacking a lot of information as a lot of us had to go to the thread of previous years. It is best we document our experiences here for future applicants to gain from.

Success to everyone of us.

Thanks for your contribution looks like I am pretty much on course.
With regards to your highlighted question, I am planning to pick up any available job, working only 8 hours per day can afford me the chance of having 5 hours to study every day and also help me to pay my bills.
The plan is to live very moderately for the first 1 year. If I can do 5 hours of study every day for a year I believe I should be able to fully cover these curriculum.

Then I chose Calgary cos I considered the cost of living and housing, since my target for the first 1 year is to fully equip myself with the required skills so my priorities are a low living cost for a year pending when I am fully armed with my Data Science/Machine learning skills.

Pls can you send me the materials you are using for self study through e-mail? Can we also connect on watsapp

Good morning guys.

i'm here again

Today, i will be taking us through the difference between professional masters degree and Academic masters degree.

university of Lagos offers both professional masters and academic masters.

professional masters are work related masters degree, it is only useful in your work environment, most of the profession masters done in unilag are usually on part-time basis. professional master degree can not be used to apply for PHD. professional masters offered in university of Lagos are:

1 MBA
2 Master of Project Management (MPM)
3 Master in Public and International Affairs (MPIA)
4. MIT
5. Masters in Managerial Psychology (MMP
etc

academic masters degree are the conventional masters degree that can be used to apply for PHD for those that want to do PHD. as the name implies, it is an academic masters. 90 percent of courses run in unilag are academic masters related courses.

thats all for now. see you some other time.
