The team with better quality is generally more successful, not just the more attacking team, else Arsenal should have won countless number of EPL title.
Italian teams had successes both in WCs and CLs been defensive, it's about tactics not being inferior.

I'd say the team that has the best balance between attacking and defending more often than not wins. Even Barca in their pomp weren't all out attacking. They defended by starving teams of ball possesion. If you did not have the ball,there was no way you could hurt them.

I do agree with you however that in the American society, Light skinned is seen as "Priviledge".
