Prolonged dip in form! Hehehehehe that's a new one. Let's face it he's been crap for almost 2 years now! His contribution to Spain's cause was so irrelevant he failed to make the team of the tournament
Crap for two years?

2010/2011 = 10 league goals in 37 appearance(quite a number of those appearances were as a sub because he kept on having niggling injuries. Plus he moved to a new club that january and we all know most players need time acclimatise to new surroundings)

2011/2012 = 6 league goals in 32 appearances. Probably the only year you can say he wasn't up to par

He was not named in the squad because he did not get enough game time. Still did not stop him from winning the Golden boot though.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by chic2pimp(m): 12:18am On Sep 18, 2012
dayokanu: Owen was never a sneaky kind of striker, He was one who would get through balls and run a few yards before scoring. Nowadays things are much more difficult.

Torres has strikers instinct? Are you serious? Why is it that Chicharito, Inzaghi, Ruud etc are always at the right places, or chasing spils from keepers and lost causes. Have you ever seen Torres do anything like that? If a pass is not 100% accurate, Torres would throw his hands in the air and blame the midfielder

Class is Permanent ke? How many years and counting?
Even when he got through balls, he still had some work to do ie defenders in front of him to get by. And boy did he do it well. If the likes of Hernandez, Inzaghi and Ruud can thrive in the modern game, I have no doubt in my mind a peak owen easily would and more. Ditto for Torres
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by chic2pimp(m): 12:00am On Sep 18, 2012
dayokanu: Oh Players dont lose it at 28?

Abeg what age did Kluivert stop being a top player, Denilson? Prolonged dip in form extending to how many years now? Not injured oo. Now under about 4 coaches and still a flop

Hodgson, Ancelotti, AVB and now RDM
They do but Torres is a different case.
His exploits for spain at the Euros with limited game time shows he has still got it. Plus he was actually decent in the first 2 or so games of the season.

Fours years ke? Torres that scored 18 goals in 22 starts in the 2009/2010 season.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by chic2pimp(m): 11:46pm On Sep 17, 2012
coogar: dayo is simply a troglodyte - torres easily fits into the 3rd category! he played the lone striker role for liverpool when he first arrived and there wasn't a better hybrid striker in the whole league in that season. he was a beast - power, pace, strength! it's idiotic for dayo and his goons to assume torres has lost this ability! the chances have been very limited @ chelsea - it's not difficult to see why shevchenko, pizarro, kezman, etc all failed @ chelsea!
He should know all about that. The winning goal he scored vs Germany in 2008 showed all of those attributes.

Dayo is just being cheeky, he very well knows Torres has not lost it. Certainly not at 28. IMO is just going through a prolonged dip in form. With regards to chelsea, yes the chances created by them are limited but neither is Torres helping matters(don't see him making intelligent runs or bringing others into play). Take saturday for Instance, He spent the entire 85 minutes either getting dispossesed easily or having his hands tied to his waist.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by chic2pimp(m): 11:16pm On Sep 17, 2012
dayokanu: The extinct ones like Owen, Torres who are always looking for the 100% chances laid for them to get one on one. Can barely survive in todays game. As they are not strong/skilled enough to go head to head nor have the instinct to ghost around. The defensive formations of nowadays are too hard for them. These are luxury strikers and mostly a liability to any formation
Abeg Michael Owen at the peak of his powers was No 2. Lest we forget he was at one point in time one of the world's best strikers. His Ballon D'or duly proves that.

Also Torres is easily No2. And with a bit more strength training would fit into the no 3 bracket. Even without the strength training, there has been times I've gone yes he definitely fits into the No 3 category.

His case might very well be of Form being temporary and class permanent.

nateevs: Jeeeez! How difficult is it to understand what the guy is saying?
He stated clearly that he isn't excusing Torres' poor performance.
Neither am I heaping all the blame on Torres for Chelsea's inept performance.
However the truth has to be told. He was useless yesterday.

nateevs: However, he raises the all important fact of Chelsea's absmal display and Torres is not the cause of it.
He states that if Torres isn't scoring, why isn't anyone else?
He was not the main cause but he was one of the cheif protagonist.
How long would chelsea fans have to put up with the 'Why isn't anyone else' excuse?
I'm sure he'll get less criticised if he actually did bring other things of substance apart from scoring to the table. Alas he does not.

nateevs: When Chamakh was not scoring, it didn't prevent everyone else from standing out, contributing and scoring goals.
Why isn't the same happening at Chelsea? That's the question Debo is aking.
Funny u should ask that question because this same Chamakh was dropped when he wasn't delivering the goods. Why didn't Arsenal stick with him?
The same is happening at chelsea and more. Since Torres signed in 2011, chelsea have won both the FA CUP and UCL which shows others are actually contributing.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by chic2pimp(m): 7:05pm On Sep 16, 2012
debosky: Even when Chamakh was struggling, the likes of Walcott, Cesc and even Vermaelen were scoring, making it even more obvious the lad had a problem. Can you show me the other Chelski players that scored yesterday?
Why only yesterday? How about the last three games or even last season? Who was scoring then? Torreshuh?
Torres at the peak of his powers at liverpool was if not the best in the top 2-3 strikers in the world but he is nowhere near that at present.
I wonder why you did put this much effort into defending Chamakh?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: The AC Milan Thread: 2021/2022 Serie A Champions! by chic2pimp(m): 6:29pm On Sep 16, 2012
So we have lost our second home game on the bounce. The first time in 80+ plus years that has happened. To say I am disappointed right now would be putting it lightly. I am more than disappointed.

I know many peeps are already calling for the head of Allegri but I won't join them. For starters our squad is a joke. How Berlu expects us to challenge for both the UCL and the Scudetto with that squad of players I'll never know. He probably thinks Allegri is some sort of Miracle worker. Hopefully our results in the half of the season would have convinced him enough to sign better quality players when the window re opens.

Still shaking my head at selling our two best players over the last two season or so and signing no one remotely close in quality to replace them. Anyways My analysis of our disgraceful defeat at the hands of Atlanta would follow shortly.
