Roddick squeezed and used up every single ounce of his very limited talent(ditto Hewitt). And that is to his credit.

Take away his fantastic serve and what you are left with is an above average player. And this has been shown to be the case on several occasions.

IMO the biggest accolade that can be given to him is not the Grandslam he won, rather the other finals he got into. Without a certain Federer in his way we will be talking about A multiple GrandSlam Champion. Not bad for an extremely limited player.

Why not just splurge on a world class centre half that would give you 10 years + of service?....Plus I don't think the likes of Shawcross would fit Barca's footballing ethos. Thomas Vermaelen would be a much better buy.

Plus the few Quality ones would probably cost an arm and a leg.

There is one player that have always championed would fit into the Barca system perfectly......Mats Hummels. The Best Young Defender in the world bar none(also in the top 5 CB).

The downside however is that he would cost anywhere between £25-30M and I really don't know If the Barca board are willing to spend that much on a defender considering your current financial position.
