PoliticsGunmen Raid Maina’s Kaduna Residence by chichichilong(op): 9:00am On Dec 28, 2017
According to Punch Newspaper of December of December 26, gunmen on December 24,2017 raided the Kaduna residence of Abdulrasheed Maina, the former chairman of the presidential task team on Pension Reforms. The report was that most of the gunmen came in military uniform while others were in mufti and that they came in search of cash and ammunition. From the report, the security in Maina’s house said that after raiding the house and finding nothing, they handcuffed him, took him away and dumped him in the bush close to Kaduna International Airport. What do we expect in a country where a wanted criminal who made away with pensioner’s fund that is in his custody and reappeared after a long time like a king only to be appointed to handle a sensitive office? In a country where people are aggrieved and evil is been pampered at their expense, the authorities should expect nothing but planned attacks.

PoliticsWords Of Hope To Nigerians From President Buhari by chichichilong(op): 8:22am On Dec 28, 2017
We can recall that around September 2017, the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics declared that Nigeria’s economy is officially out of recession, having recorded 0.55% growth in Gross Domestic Product for the second quarter of 2017. When the ‘out of recession’ news was released, some Nigerians claimed it by faith and reacted positively to it, while many Nigerians dismissed the news; not because they do not want Nigeria to be out of recession but because they have not seen the reality of the fact that Nigeria is out of recession. As long as Nigeria is concerned, the standard of living of many Nigerians is nothing to write home about, so to them, the news of been out of recession is nothing but a theory.

EventsThe World Of Christmas by chichichilong(op): 2:16pm On Dec 23, 2017
Christmas is a day billions of Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. It is the greatest celebration which impacts even non Christians. It is unique because it comes at the last week of December which ushers in the New Year.Christmas celebration started in the fourth century when Christianity became the official religion of Rome. Christmas celebration has become so popular ever since, that those who celebrate it have given it an ugly face judging by the activities that go with it. It is time for people all over the world to reflect on the reasons for Christmas celebration. We need to count the cost to know if Christmas deserves all that waste of food in our homes, and our large boxes and wardrobe of clothes. Many people all over the world are suffering. It will be more fun when we identify such people; either at the home of the less privileged or around us, and show them that Jesus Christ came for them too, by sharing what we don’t need and all our excess possessions. Some people are homeless, hungry, some wear clothes that can best be described as rags while some go bare footed. They are all around us. In the spirit of our Christmas celebrations, let us give the hopeless and helpless people reason to live to appreciate life.

CultureWho Are Nigerians? by chichichilong(op): 11:38am On Dec 23, 2017
Nigerians are those victims of hunger who have taken what does not belong to them by crook or by force, and were imprisoned, jailed or sentenced by the criminal chieftains whose own crime were swept under the carpet. Nigerians are those who are imprisoned or sentenced for the crime they never committed, because an officer must get promoted by proving to higher officers that he or she is working. Nigerians are those who the tension, frustration and problems of living in Nigeria have sucked away their sense of decency. Nigerians are the only ones that can live and survive anywhere in the world. Nigerians will create the best economy in the world if they are opportune to live and work under favourable conditions. If you are not a Nigerian, then you are not the right person to judge Nigerians because if you are a Nigeria, you might to do worse things.

PoliticsAfrica – A Politically Free But Economically Chained Continent by chichichilong(op): 11:15am On Dec 23, 2017
African countries were only granted political independence from their colonial masters to govern themselves; that explains why Africans still live like slaves till date. From the look of things, there is no evidence that Africans are truly independent. After independence, the foundations of exploitation and self depreciation laid by the colonial masters for Africans were raised higher, been painted and furnished by the sequence of African leaders from then till date. Before colonization, Africa is blessed with mineral resources, efficient manpower, good political culture and well grounded culture. If there is nothing good in Africa, nothing could have attracted the whites. They spied and saw so much wealth and ability in Africa and craved for it. They therefore came armed, to subdue Africans and exploit them. Africans, being so gullible, became victims of circumstances till date. The whites made away with African treasures and able bodied men of Africa to develop their place so that they can Lord over us. Africans developed Europe and America, yet they remain underdeveloped. African countries celebrate their independence yearly, not minding how these lower class people are fairing. This class of people has over the years been treated by their fellow Africans the same way the whites treated Africans in the time past. It is therefore not wrong to say that Africans generally are politically free from the whites but are still slaves to white men ideology which the smarter Africans have long cultivated and applied to oppress the unfortunate ones.

PoliticsNigeria In The Cage Of Lawless Lawmakers by chichichilong(op): 3:12pm On Dec 22, 2017
There is something wrong with the members of Nigeria’s National Assembly. They don’t think like lawmakers. They seem to be possessed by a kind of demon. It is so bad that any fresh person elected into the assembly will eventually become possessed as well. Majority of those elected into the National Assembly have deficiencies in experience and academics, yet they were elected. They lack the psychological and philosophical knowledge to understand the Nigerian need of today and how the world or life works. They are nothing but fraudsters and ought not to be identified as distinguished or honourable. They have destroyed the Nigeria they are supposed to protect and are not worthy to continue serving as legislatures. Nigeria can do better without them.

PoliticsNigerians Are Gullible by chichichilong(op): 2:57pm On Dec 22, 2017
Nigeria is such a nation of people with fairy tale ideology. An average Nigeria easily gets carried away by false hope. Election period is fast approaching and politicians will soon come up with their heart melting manifesto that blows wind of hope to the masses; the wind of hope that tends to make them lose their reasoning faculty. It is strange to know that at this information age, many Nigerians still find words to justify a government of hate, vengeance and tribalism just because they are getting some peanuts that they will yet vomit in due time. It will take a radical re-organization to enlighten Nigerians and encourage growth and development in Nigeria and this cannot be achieved by mere theories. Ayo Sogunro puts it this way, “radical re-organization and reform will not be achieved just by faith. In fact, it requires a healthy dose of skepticism”.

FamilyCrashed Marriages – The Case Of Celebrities by chichichilong(op): 9:49am On Dec 21, 2017
The moment we come to terms with the fact that marriage is for two opposites, then, we will find marriage interesting. Male is the opposite of female and they each have their unique qualities which must be respected by each. Without this understanding, we open door for infidelity which is certainly not an option. Consequently, when a man ceases to be a man, there is always a problem and vice versa. For any marriage to work, a man must be the man while the woman plays her unique role as a woman, and both must come to terms with their natural endowments. There is no other magic. Family institution, which is a product of marriage is the best and the most exciting institution which is created by God himself. Others like religion, economy, education, government, etc are man made. We therefore ought to protect this sacred institution and stop the madness of divorce, separation, battle of sexes, and baby mama ideology; which are but the easiest way of raising bitter and confused children that may never enjoy a complete home.

PoliticsControversy Over The Election Of Secondus by chichichilong(op): 8:54am On Dec 21, 2017
If PDP must take over from the opposition party come 2019, then it must thrive to resolve the issues it is facing amicably and on time. Crisis at this time will only end up causing the party loss of power as was the case in 2015 elections. The zone that has enjoyed power more than others should be able to sacrifice and give unity a chance in the party while those who were disappointed with the outcome of the National Convention should put aside their grievances and dialogue with the party leaders. Creating party factions at this time will never do any PDP member any good.

Christianity EtcGiving To God: A Messed Up Truth by chichichilong(op): 4:48pm On Dec 19, 2017
Why is it that the so called men of God pray these days without effect? I have even observed those who frequent prayer houses and found out that they get worse every day, when actually they are supposed to be better off, yet they give their fortunes to receive prayer and prophecies. It’s time for Christians to reason and break free from religious bondage. These men and women of God waste their member’s money printing posters and fliers for their selfish programmes that are meant to protect themselves and gather more offerings, and they make such programmes sound like God will come down from heaven, yet, after such programmes, there is nothing to show for the money spent to host it. It’s time to think. How many of such programmes have we attended these days and see the blind, deaf, lame, dumb, etc all receive their healing?

PoliticsAfrica And The ‘animal Farm’ Scenario by chichichilong(op): 4:35pm On Dec 16, 2017
Africans don’t seem to connect different phenomena to draw a reasonable conclusion that will guide them in their decisions. During elections, Africans prefer to vote in the person who shares money, rice, etc that lasts for a while than that person with humanitarian values and principles. African attitude to voting has kept so many good leaders away from the political field. We claim to be independent yet, we remain slaves to our greedy and selfish leaders; who have copied everything they said is not right with our colonial masters and even added their own capitalist attributes. Little wonder, all African countries have issues in their governance structure.

Politics6 Years Single Tenure For Elective Officers - Ekweremadu by chichichilong(op): 3:57pm On Dec 16, 2017
According to Sun Newspaper of December 16 2017, Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, has advocated six-year single tenure for president, governors, National Assembly and State Assembly Members so as to stop the problem caused by the quest for second term. This is a welcome development and we enjoin all Nigerians to support it. Nigeria has experienced huge loss as a result of political errors and bad governance. To advocate for 6 years single term and restructuring sounds promising. This is the only way to bring about change, as we cannot continue to do the same thing over and over and expect positive change to happen.

FashionColour Your Existence by chichichilong(op): 4:56pm On Dec 14, 2017
Colour is a powerful and important communication tool, and it is tied to religion, culture and sex. The science behind our emotional connections to color is a complicated one but our choice of colour tends to be more influenced by our religion and sex. In Christianity for instance, every Christian event like Advent, Easter, Christmas, etc is marked with a particular colour. In our day to day events and celebrations, we must have noted that the male choice of colours differ from that of female. The male folk get more along with unattractive colours like black, grey, white, dark blue, ash, etc. while the female folk are more addicted to flashy colours like pink, red, green, purple, etc. or combination of such flashy colours. Colours have added value to human existence such that we have glorified them and added meaning to boost their value. My best colours are Olive green, purple, pink, red and yellow, and the combination of any three or more of the six. What are your colours? You can tell us what they mean to you. Garnish this Christmas with colours.

FamilyAn Essay On Trust by chichichilong(op): 1:54pm On Dec 14, 2017
Trust may not be written all over the body of a faithful and honest person but the fact that that person is genuine cannot be hidden. Pretentious character has become a threat to the nature of sincerity and faithfulness but the difference should be clear to any person with a sound mind. Pretense and patience doesn’t get along; it doesn’t take long for a pretender to show his or her true colour. Love is different from trust. One can trust and not love. On the other hand, one can love someone but not trust him or her. You can trust someone because you believe he or she has your best interest at heart; he or she wouldn't do something to hurt you for the fun of it, or for selfish gain.

EducationReaders Are Leaders by chichichilong(op): 1:44pm On Dec 13, 2017
If Africa must be a developed continent then Africans need to grow up . This growth is about maturity. Growth is not about covering our naked bodies with expensive and fanciful wears, it is not about driving expensive cars that are built to manage Nigerian roads, it is not about being able to afford medical treatment abroad, it is not about getting education in a foreign land developed by human beings like us; growth is about the quality of knowledge that we have acquired and able to apply for our own good, it is about our ability to reason and bring about mental revolution. The revolution that will tell us that when we build our roads well, we will spend less in transportation. It will teach us that when we equip our hospitals, we don't need to waste our money going for medical treatment abroad. It will teach us that when we invest in education and employ the right teachers, our certificate will be valued anywhere in the world and we don't need to spend too much money schooling abroad. This mental revolution will only be achieved when we read with understanding and task our brain to reason.

PoliticsTrump's Recognition Of Jerusalem As The Capital Of Israel: Nigeria's Opinion by chichichilong(op): 11:29am On Dec 13, 2017
There has been an overwhelming global controversy following Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel; while some people think that he took a wrong step that will obstruct the movement of peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians, others think that Trump’s declaration will promote world peace. Judging by the world events, do we think that this world peace is attainable? I have searched the Book of Prophecy and found that it is recorded nowhere that world peace is possible in our present world. It does not matter whether Israel’s capital is in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem.

EventsWhat Is The Worth Of Your Birthday? by chichichilong(op): 8:26am On Dec 07, 2017
There is no better way to celebrate a birthday than to engage in acts of goodness. God is more honored when we celebrate a life that has shown acts of kindness to our fellow human beings than when we go for thanksgiving and celebrate our selfishness. Nothing pleases God more than see His children celebrate a life of love crowned with acts of goodness and kindness.
Happy Birthday!

PoliticsPolitical Madness - What Ministry Of Happiness And Purpose Fulfillment? by chichichilong(op): 6:48pm On Dec 06, 2017
Appointment of commissioners is a usual thing in Nigeria but there is something unusual about this appointment that has kept many people wondering what manner of man is Governor Okorocha. Barely few weeks after the erection of Zuma statute and the statute of President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of Liberia, Governor Okorocha has again aggrieved the citizens of Imo State and Nigeria by creating an irrelevant office named: Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment. What an abuse of an office and a mockery of the citizens! Will Ministry of Happiness create jobs for the teeming youths, provide workers and pensioners dues, provide regular and clean water, provide regular power supply, etc.? We have good and talented comedians in Nigeria so I don’t think we need this office because it seems to me like this Ministry of Happiness is created to stir up temporal laughter to make people forget their sorrows while their problems linger.

PoliticsParty Prostitution: The Case Of Atiku Abubakar’s Resignation by chichichilong(op): 4:09pm On Dec 05, 2017
Atiku Abubakar, Waziri Adamawa has formerly resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC). Decamping from a party and joining another has become a political character of Nigerian politicians that we wonder if it is for the well being of the citizens. There is need to note the consequences of changing from one party to another to find out if it is healthy or destructive to the leadership of this nation. I doubt if it is healthy and wish for a stable political atmosphere.

TravelThe Incessant Migration Of Nigerians To Europe by chichichilong(op): 3:31pm On Nov 25, 2017
26 teenage Nigerian girls had died in the Mediterranean Sea, off coast Italy while attempting to cross from Libya to Europe.
Many Nigerians have died at Sahara Desert, Mediterranean Sea, and God knows where else; in search of greener pastures. The cause of the death of these 26 teenage Nigerians girls who died at Mediterranean Sea, which has not been ascertained, is not the problem. The problem here is rather about the incessant migration of young Nigerians to countries in Europe and other parts of the world which has become alarming. What is it that makes Nigerian youths desire to spend their years in countries where they will be nothing less than intimacy gadgets, errand boys and girls, etc.? The answer is not far-fetched; Nigerian youths are tired of the giant called Nigeria that has no plan for them. A country where even hair dressing and barbing salon are difficult to manage because of the additional cost of fuel and maintenance of generator; as there is always power failure, is a threat to their survival. A country with high increase of graduates and influx of graduates into the already crowded labour market, with no space for them to fit in is a big threat to the future of Nigerian youths. Our political leaders have made this country uninhabitable for its citizens including themselves. Their children go to school abroad and even their medical treatment has to be abroad. This is not to encourage Nigerian Youths to keep risking their lives on the altar of greener pastures but to urge our leaders to save this nation the embarrassment of burying its youths in a strange land for no reason other than illegal migration for greener pastures.

EducationBeyond Kaduna Teachers Sack; Nigerians Crave For Rebirth by chichichilong(op): 3:05pm On Nov 22, 2017
Education is the only sector that will develop every other sector, yet, it is the most neglected. Our doctors are trained in schools, our engineers, leaders, lawyers, teachers, priests etc. were all trained in schools. The abuse of education in Nigeria explains the decay in every other sector. We have rich curriculum but lack qualified teachers and lecturers to interpret them, just as we have rich laws for governance but our leaders cannot abide by it. We are very good with theories that are never put into practice. So many teachers cannot defend their certificates. The major problem is the influx of unqualified teachers/lecturers, with no passion for teaching, into the teaching profession because their desired jobs are not available, which is a big threat to education. This factor is not limited to teaching profession; The influx of greedy leaders that lack the passion and skill to lead has opened the doors for quacks to get into every sector. Recently, Kaduna State governor sacked 21,780 teachers who failed primary four exams. This is ridiculous! But come to think of it, if a leadership test is set for our leaders, how many of them will pass the test? Your guess is as good as mine. The question now is: which school graduated these teachers? Which lecturers taught and certified them as teachers? Sacking of teachers is not the solution because teachers do not exist by themselves. There are educational bodies that regulate the activities of teachers and lecturers, and there are people responsible for recruiting teachers. Who are the people that make up this group? Are they all resistant to the infectious disease? What is the guarantee that the sacked teachers will not be replaced with another version of quack teachers? We need to go back to the drawing board for solution. Meanwhile, the death of the Commissioner for Education, Kaduna State just few days after the mass sack of teachers is something to worry about.
