300Lvl Gombe Varsity Student Stabbed To Death By Colleague During Heated Argument Over Football Match Abdulssamad Musa, a 300-level student of the Federal University of Kashere, has been stabbed to death by a fellow student during an argument over a football match. Spokesperson of the State Police Command, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident to Punch, said the suspect fled after the incident on Tuesday night, July 2, 2024. “Football is supposed to be a unifier and not a cause of death,” he said. According to him, 18-year-old Musa died from the injuries he sustained as his neighbours fled instead of providing first aid to him or seeking immediate medical assistance. “It was initially an argument between the students who lived in the same compound, but it soon turned into a violent argument which led to a fight. As a result, one of them used a knife to stab the other student, Abdulsalam Musa, 18 years and a 300-level student of the criminology department, faculty of Social and Management Sciences," the PPRO said. Abdullahi disclosed that because the neighbours failed to provide Musa with the much-needed help at the critical time of the incident as they all ran away, abandoning him to his fate. “No immediate help was rendered to the victim. Instead, they just tried to escape. The main accused ran away, but we have put up so many efforts, and by God’s grace, we will get him “The accused was a 300 level student, who went on Industrial Attachment Training, but came to sit for his carryover exams “Upon his coming back, the residents in the outside hostel where he resided accommodated him. It will interest you to know that they are all from Plateau State, so you can see the height of their relationship,” he added. He called on residents to desist from acts of violence.

Lagos court remands proprietress, her two children for torturing 10-year-old pupil A Lagos Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ogba, yesterday, remanded the proprietress of Cradle of Wisdom School, Mrs Clifford Ikpinkpini, and her two children in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for alleged torture and inhumane treatment of a 10-year-old pupil of the school. Magistrate B. Osunsanmi remanded the defendants pending the perfection of their bail, after they were arraigned before the court. The proprietress and her two children, Okeisoprugwe Clifford Ikpinkpini, 34, and Okorie Ikpinkpini, 37, were remanded on a four-count charge bordering on subjecting a pupil, Abel Ojeka, to inhumane treatment and torturing. The police prosecutor, Raji Akeem, alleged that the defendants and others, now at large, on June 27 and 28, at about 8:00 a.m., at Cradle of Wisdom School, Igando, flogged one Abel Ojeka, a 10-year-old boy, with a cane and inflicted injuries on his back, left hand, and waist. According to him, the offence is punishable under Section 173, 172 and 168(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015. Also, the defendants were charged for allegedly infringing on the right to dignity of Abel Ojeka by subjecting him to torture, inhumane or degrading treatment and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 10 (1) (b) of the Child Rights Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015. The police said that when the incident was reported at the station, the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace, refused to collect or accept police invitations, and refused to appear at the station. They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them. Following their not guilty plea, Magistrate Osunsanmi admitted them to bail of N200,000 with two sureties each, and adjourned till August 29, for mention. Meanwhile, a drama ensued in court when the defendants refused to give details of their address and declined to put down their statements. The Investigative Police Officer (IPO), Yemi Amoo, had to show video evidence of how the defendants acted towards the police to the Chief Magistrate, who condemned the action of the proprietress and her co-defendants. The Chief Magistrate bluntly told the perpetrators that since they were not willing to give their information, she would remand them till they were ready. She said: “This should be a warning to yet-to-be identified child abusers across Lagos State and Nigeria because this is just the beginning of total cleansing of the toxic system. “This is should send a signal to child abusers in both public and private schools; Lagos government has zero tolerance for child abuse.”

Woman who confessed to sleeping with dogs arrested for faking her death Adenike Adewodun, a woman who claimed to have had sex with dogs on Talk on B, a podcast hosted by Nollywood actress Biola Adebayo, have been arrested for conspiracy and attempted obtaining by false pretence. TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Adewodun went viral after admitting to engaging in sexual activities with her dogs. The lady while featuring in a podcast episode hosted by Adebayo, recounted how her past trauma, detailing various instances of molestation resulted to an unhealthy addiction. Adewodun recalled her ugly past experiences — including sexual molestation as a teenager. Hours after the interview, Biola said in an Instagram post that she got word from a friend of Adewodun that she had taken her own life. The actress who slammed netizens suggested that the criticisms she received after her confession contributed to her death. However, on Thursday, Biola revealed in a statement shared on social media that she found out Adewodun faked her death. The statement said, “The case of Miss Adenike, while tragic, is a learning curve for us. She sent a message and was asked to come and we offered to get her therapy and all but she freaked out and in a very devilish and ungodly manner faked her own death. “After the fake death news, we have tried to locate her house to properly express our deepest condolences but it was difficult to even pen a condolence letter, and the presenter and producer Abiola Adebayo was both emotionally and mentally disturbed for days. “In the course of properly mourning her, we noticed some discrepancies in what her so-called ‘sister’ was telling us and what her friend was saying and because we felt something was amiss. We dispatched the Director of the show on a fact finding mission who spoke with the friend before he traced the hospital where she was supposed to have been treated and we were told there and then that she didn’t die. “After this discovery, a petition was written by our attorney to the police to complain about the situation, and promptly, the Police investigated and arrested both Nike and her friend. “The Police were also set to prosecute, and upon interrogation, Nike, who admitted that she was the one who approached Biola for the interview said she freaked out because people recognised her and said she felt that if she lied that she was dead Biola would remove the video. Police asked her if she reached out to Biola to remove the video at any point, and she said no.”

Gorilla at Toronto zoo. Photo - PetalPixel The Toronto Zoo has become a hot topic on social media after a TikTok video showcasing their gorillas and their Nigerian-inspired names went viral. The video, posted by user @iam_mattesh, features the gorillas and nameplates identifying them as Ngozi, Nneka, and Sadiki. While some users found this amusing, others found it downright uncomfortable. A follow-up comment by user @arojinle1 offered insights, bringing, a new perspective. He wrote, “The names given to the gorillas were not meant to insult Nigerians or Africans. Zoos often name their animals based on their region of origin. These gorillas are likely Cross River gorillas, native to Nigeria, so the zoo chose names reflecting their heritage.” User @arojinle1 further clarified writing, “One of the gorillas is named Charles. Does that mean they’re calling every Charles an animal? There’s a reason behind zoo naming practices. The lion at the OOPL Zoom was named Àrẹ́mú because it was donated by former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo Arẹmu. Let’s not get upset over something with good intentions.” Cultural Appropriation vs. Appreciation? Furthermore, the naming of the gorillas treads on the fine line between cultural appropriation and appreciation. While some see the Nigerian names as a respectful nod to the animals’ “heritage,” others fear that it brings back a history of dehumanisation. The Toronto Zoo has yet to officially comment on the viral video or the ongoing discourse surrounding the gorillas’ names. However, their website does mention a commitment to animal welfare and species preservation efforts, which may align with their naming choices. Room for Open Conversation Finally, the whole controversy surrounding the Toronto Zoo’s gorilla names is culturally sensitive. Zoos have a responsibility to not only care for animals but also to educate the public about their origins and conservation needs. Perhaps including explanations behind the naming choices in exhibits or on their website could help people understand better.

Currently, I give him a weekly allowance of $15,000, but even Georgina thinks that’s too much for him.” “He spends almost all his money on clothes, haircuts, restaurants, and other things that are useless. I don’t know if I’ll be able to handle his expenses in the future.” “I want him to suffer in life so he can understand the real value of money, but if I do that, the media will think that I am selfish and a bad father, so I have no choice but to deal with it.” In another video attached to the article, he added that his son is the most expensive part of his life while revealing that his barber charges over $5,000 to give his son a haircut. |

Their motorcycles were reportedly confiscated, and their bodies taken to the OSPAC secretariat in Omoku. “On May 3, 2024, the Youths of Egbeda Community in Emuoha LGA staged a peaceful protest to Lubrik Construction Company at Egbeda, and after being addressed by the Police, they dispersed but were ambushed by a group of OSPAC members led by the Egbeda OSPAC Commander, Friday Ogbuji, who shot and killed the Youth Leader, Innocent Didia,” he said. “The Rivers State Police Command has made further arrests and will continue to investigate these cases and other related ones, which will then be charged to a Court of competent Jurisdiction. “The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu has advised that any resident who has complaints of assault, extortion, or illegal detention should make a report at the nearest police station. “The Rivers State Command is committed to carrying out its duty of protecting lives and property. It will not tolerate any act of illegality, excessive use of force, torture, fraudulent conversion of properties, and other varying forms of criminality by the OSPAC or any other vigilante outfit,” he added.
