“My dad died because all the qualified doctors were in church” – Keji Giwa recounts painful loss

Nigerian billionaire businessman Keji Giwa has opened up about one of the most painful experiences of his life, recounting the circumstances surrounding his father’s death.

Speaking during a recent interview on the “Outside the Box” platform, Giwa said his father was on his way to the UK as part of a yearly tradition he shared with his family when tragedy struck unexpectedly.
According to Giwa, everything seemed normal before the incident, as he had spoken with his father shortly before his trip.

“My dad was on his way to the UK, as a yearly thing he celebrates with us. We’ve spoken, he’s on his way. Next thing I know, he’s not at the airport. It took a while to call me, and when they finally called me, my dad was dead,” he said.

Giwa said he was later informed that his father died from food poisoning, a condition he believes should not have led to death if proper medical attention had been available.

He alleged that when his father was taken to the hospital on a Sunday, there were no qualified doctors available to attend to him at the time of emergency.

“What happened? Food poisoning. On that day he was taken to the hospital, it was a Sunday. He shouldn’t be dead. It’s ordinary food poisoning, but he died. He died because all the qualified doctors were in church on a Sunday,” he added.

The businessman said the incident deeply affected him and shaped his views on religion, especially because it happened during a period when he and his father were beginning to build a stronger relationship.

Women in a viral video from Bayelsa State, Nigeria, confront police officers who stopped them, seized a vibrator as an "exhibit," and allegedly harassed them during a search.

One woman is particularly vocal, demanding the return of a vibrator (a intimacy gadget) that police seized from one of their bags.

Saved by Hunters: When hook-up goes wrong[b]

Miss Anthonia (name withheld) was lucky to come back alive from the land of the dead. Not many who saw that place were lucky like her. It would have been a journey of no return for her but for divine providence that stepped in. In a video that trended, she told [/b]some hunters a few days ago how she found herself tied to a tree in a forest around Akpobi junction in Sapele Local Government Area, Delta state.

The hunters were on their routine operations that night in the bush when they stumbled on her. She was tied to a tree at that spot. They were not sure what it was. They beamed their torches on what looked like an apparition in the distance. Behold, it was a weak Anthonia, tied to a tree, that they saw.

Still tied to the tree, the hunters needed to be sure how she got there and how she got tied to the tree. She responded to the questions from the hunters between 9 and 10 that night.

She said she came for a hook-up job that went awry. Her words: “I am From Ughelli. I have been chatting with somebody online and he said I should meet him in Sapele. I don’t know this area well. When I met him we started coming.

He was with another person that was like his friend. I complained that the place was getting too far and he said we were almost at his place. Suddenly his friend held my mouth and they dragged me into this bush. They carried me from the Akpobi junction.”

According to her, the boys took her phone and ordered her to submit the password to her account from where they transferred one hundred thousand naira which she had in her account.

“Later, they told me that they were going to bring their second target who was waiting at the same Akpobi junction.”

Hook-up culture
Her story is a reflection of how desperate some of the young ones now identified as Gen Z generation are for quick money.

Madam Comfort Aweruosuo, a housewife, said girls will never learn. She said Antonia was fortunate but she can’t pretend not to have heard stories of how several other girls were slaughtered by young boys for money rituals in the name of hookup. “A person who came for a hookup has lost one hundred thousand naira to the guys. Young girls nowadays and the risk they take for money.

“We in Sapele did not know things like this happen in the bush around the area she was found. My advice to other girls and even this one that was rescued is that she should But will they listen,” she chuckled.

Vanguard gathered that hookup has become a euphemism for prostitution among young girls. Even some young married women are into it. Usually there is a “talking stage” in any erotic relationship where parties get to know each other. But in hookup settings, the talk is all about how much the male partner is ready to part with for fun. They often meet online.

A high percentage of girls lose their lives in the process. Brothels used to be the place to go for commercial sex but this is fast fading away. And being replaced with online dating.

‘Yahoo boys’
Ovo, a student at the Delta State University, Abraka, Ethiope East local government area, said many Yahoo guys now go for “hookup”. And they meet the targets online. They prefer hookup because the girls go about with their phones where they have their bank accounts.

“Many guys prefer hookups. Girls go about with their phones. Yes, usually they will come with the small ones we call Torchlight phones that don’t have their accounts the first time they meet you in a hotel. But when you make them relax and feel safe, the next time when they come they bring their big phones.

“That is when the guys strike. They clear all the money in the phones and abandon the girl tied on the bed in the hotel room,” Ovo said.

“In some cases worse things can be done to the girls in the hotel rooms,” he added.

He said Anthonia was just given a second chance by God, adding that probably her organs could have been harvested that night.

Wisconsin Nurse Slept With Drug Court Patient, Then Falsely Accused Him of Assault, Prosecutors Say

A former Monroe County nurse was sentenced to 18 months in prison Friday after authorities said she had a sexual relationship with a patient in a drug court program and then falsely accused the patient of sexual assault when the investigation into the relationship began.

Melissa Knutson, 30, of Readstown, was also sentenced to serve two years of extended supervision after her prison term, after she pleaded guilty to a charge of misconduct in public office.

The charges stem from Knutson’s employment as a nurse in Monroe County, where she cared for drug court participants. Authorities said Knutson several times engaged in sexual intercourse with a male patient to whom she administered medication as part of his drug treatment program.

Drug court is a program that provides treatment and supervision to people who have a drug problem but are not incarcerated. Participants are under court supervision and are subject to strict compliance requirements.

According to court documents, the case came to light when the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services received reports of an improper relationship between Knutson and the patient.

When the case was first discovered, Knutson claimed that the patient had sexually assaulted her, but during the plea hearing, she confessed that she had made a false accusation.

The investigators later retrieved text messages between Knutson and the patient that contradicted Knutson’s claims. The text messages revealed that Knutson had initiated the improper relationship and that she would deny it if she were caught.

According to court documents, in one of the text message exchanges, Knutson hinted that she would deny any wrongdoing if the improper relationship came to light.

A Chief Linguist identified as Okyeame Kofi Agyemang at the Palace in Ankaase near Afigyase in the Ashanti region of Ghana is in the grips of the Police for forcibly sleeping with his 14-year-old biological daughter with the excuse that he was testing to see if she was still a virgin.

Kumasi-based Kesssben FM reported that the linguist forced her daughter who was unwilling to have an affair with her father but the father overpowered her and slept with her while her mother was away.

According to the man who has now been arrested, he wanted to be sure the girl was still a virgin.

The Radio station reports that the mother had left the girl in the care of the father and gone for a funeral outside Ankaase near Afigyase in the Ashanti region.

Okyeame Kofi is said to have met his daughter smearing pomade on her body after she had taken her bath and seeing how beautiful the kid has grown to become, he jumped on her took what he wanted. After forcing his way with the young girl, he warned her not to tell her mother.

But the teenager has been haunted by what happened and had to disclose what transpired to her mother who reported the linguist to the Chief of their community. Okyeame Kofi Agyemang has since been handed over to the Police in Ankaase to deal with the matter since it’s a criminal matter.

Man arrested during the naming ceremony of his child in Ogun church for stealing three goats

Operatives of the Ogun State Community Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps, have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly stealing three goats in Ipokia Local Council of the state.

The suspect, Emmanuel Awahnse, was apprehended in a church during the naming ceremony of his child.

The Corps Commander, Dr Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued at the weekend in Abeokuta by the Director of Information, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi.

Ganzallo said the suspect was first sighted on February 6, 2026, at about 5:00 a.m., by operatives attached to the Ifonyintedo Division during a routine patrol along the Madoga–Ita-Ege road. 

He was reportedly riding a motorcycle with an accomplice and carrying a black bag.

On noticing the operatives, the suspects allegedly sped off. During the chase, they abandoned the motorcycle and the bag, which was later found to contain three goats.

Ganzallo said Awahnse, also known as Ariwo Oja and a native of Odoforo in Ipokia Local Council, was eventually arrested on February 19 at about 1:30 p.m. 

He added that the suspect allegedly confessed during preliminary investigation that he and an accomplice, identified as Ketonsu, also known as Ijagun, stole the goats at Ifonyintedo.

The suspect and the recovered exhibits have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Idiroko Division, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

A shocking and tragic incident has rocked a church community in Ijegun, Lagos. just days after the the church invested in a brand-new sound system, a group of robbers targeted the place at night leaving a trail of devastation and claiming the life of the church’s own choir leader.

According to eye witnesses, the thieves struck under the cover of darkness, creating a hole in the church wall to gain access.

Inside, they moved quickly, loading the new instrument s onto their vehicle.

Disturbingly, the church’s leader, who was trusted and known by the congregation, allegedly assisted the robbers in carrying the items.

Tragedy struck when he was the last to leave, While attempting to exit the church with some of the stolen instruments, he came into contact with an exposed electrical wire. Witnesses reported hearing a loud crackle, followed by a sudden fall. The choir leader was electrocuted instantly, dying on the spot, while the other accomplices fled into the night unscathed.

The church community is in deep shock over the incident.
