Chemist4life:Defer to Fall semester. Most funding opportunities are usually open then. Meaning most student graduate in spring, so there might be opening for you. He sounds very willing to offer you one if there was any available. |
dest4real:I don’t think you can. You are applying for emergency appointment based on the initial location you scheduled your appointment. |
The more reason the protest should continue. Go all out Nigerians |
With that is currently playing in Rivers State particularly Port Harcourt, the political instability and faction disruption of political activities would backfire. Look at Warri, Delta State. There is nothing left there for the youths. They were severely warned about the dangers of being anti development and allowing state elders to instigate them against host companies and create hostile environments. Rivers is fast becoming a dangerous environment that would chase away investments in the state. |
ourunivibes:I can see that there is more dealing with you that just a post. It’s evident. I shouldn’t have responded to you. |
ourunivibes:There are lots of people who got PhD straight with a bachelors degree with zero research publication. So I don’t know what your fuss is about? Some even got PhD admission with their HND degree without a research publication. Where did I mention that it is not good to submit research publication if you have one? Or research publication wouldn’t help your case? I shouldn’t have responded to you. |
This ignorant barbaric act needs to stop. What sorts of inhumane despicable treatment is that? |
Corruption is like a cancer in Nigeria. It’s endemic and has eaten into the fabric of our existence. It would take the youths who constitute 60% of the population to rise and take on the street. |
ourunivibes:So he should manufacture a publication and also work experience? A lot of reasons why most of you are stuck is because you have failed to go by line of conversation. From his post, he didn’t mention he has publication. He was worried about his low GPA and mentioned the possibility of writing GRE, yes GRE will help his case because I have someone who was specifically told to submit GRE which was not a requirement due to his low GPA. Publication will surely help his case, but GRE will help suffice as well if there are no present publication or better work experience. No where did I mention that Publication will not help his case, but does he have one? Some of you sit there and think publication is as easy at it comes that you can get within 2-4 months. I can share people who were specifically told to go write GRE so they can be considered. |
Anyone telling you not to protest is your enemy, he/she wants not you to die in abject poverty and insecurity. The better part is to come out en masse and protest |
Blinking44:Yes you can. The person I responded to has a low undergrad GPA but a high GPA in his masters looking to shoot for PhD programs. He needs to write GRE even if it’s not a requirement to help his case |
Keep at it mate. We can’t keep suffering while watching our leaders make mockery of us. They do not care how we feel at all. It is time to send them a strong message. Don’t back down from the protest. If it takes one year, so be it. |
Greatkenny2:Hardly they do, if you know, you might as well answer. If you do not, tell them you do not. The idea here is to learn to answer question the right way and not go about rambling about what you’re not asked. |
The government are afraid and are using all tools necessary to label this planned protest all sorts of name. |
They have turned the Nigeria Police to clowns. People who should be protecting Nigerians are not tools used to hack them down. Protest is a fundamental right enshrined in Nigeria’s constitution and the Police are charged to protect them while they protest. Issuing all these baseless threats will NEVER deter Nigerians from exercising their right to protest. |
This country is really joking with her citizens. Nigerians need to protest so bad |
The last time I checked, soldiers were issued new uniform last as far back as 2016. They buy their own uniforms. These men complain about not being paid, no weapons, no support at all from higher ups. All our generals have turned to political tool to instill fear in the minds of Nigerians. Carry cane everywhere like octogenarians. Such a pity. Rest in Peace Soldier |
We do not want to know where it will end. Since the kleptomaniacs have decided they do not care about the citizens but share largesse like it’s their birth right then be rest assured that the people are ready to take what is rightfully theirs. I understand majority of Nigerians never voted for the current government but they do not deserve the kind of treatment meted on them. This is a huge reason why Nigerians need not walk back on that planned protest. Do not care how long it will take, if it takes one year, so be it. What do we have to lose? We already lost our country to selfish leaders, we might as well go all out. Nigeria belongs to Nigerians and Nigerians decide who rule over them. |
If you are applying for undergraduate program, have it at heart that there are more than 2,000 universities in the US. You have no excuse whatsoever that you are not able to find schools. There are universities that are cheap and affordable. Fitchburg State University East Tennessee State University Georgia State University Miami University Kent University Ohio University Austin Peay State University Wichita State University Kansas State University Tennessee Tech University etc. Remember, Google is your friend. Do your research and apply. |
If you have plans to apply for Fall, 2025, this is the best time to start getting your materials ready. Early application is always the best. Start crafting your SOP and have people review it for you. Google is always a great resource. Don’t go and copy ChatGPT verbatim, you are free to use it as a reference guide but don’t copy cos you’ll be fished out sounding so robotic. Get your transcript ready, scout of recommenders (their email address, phone number, position and where they work). Create an excel sheet to document all the schools you intend to apply and check off all requirements when you have them. Funding are mostly available during Fall semester, so you always want to aim for Fall Semester. |
Rolexxxy:Attach is a sample. Do not message anyone outside of Nairaland. A simple google search would have given you hundreds of samples

Greatkenny2:VO: Who’s is your sponsor? Who is covering/ paying for the deficit? Who’s is paying for your trip.? The question can come in any of these format. Answer: My sister will be covering the Deficit. My sister will be paying for my trip. My sister will be sponsoring my Masters program. These answers should suffice. NB: do not go about rambling about all the company she didn’t own and how much millions she earns monthly. Simply wait for further question. VO: what does she do? Why is she sponsoring you? Is she married? Does she have kids? These can be possible follow up questions. |
ayodabosunday:Not everyone gets their approved in 48hrs. It doesn't even happen that fast for most people. It’s a process and your application will be reviewed |
bobodudu100:your best bet is to write GRE and aim for nothing less than 310. You’ll also need to invest more time with your SOP and apply to more schools. It would be very difficult to get into a Tier 1 school, there are a lot of schools in the US where you’ll be fine with a PhD program and surely would be at a good spot for post doc fellowship. My advice is to focus on Low Tier schools. Why not share the program you’re interested in so folks can at least point you to some schools |
Nobody needs you to join the protest. Stay in your lane. You are not Nigerians representative. The head of the protest is Hunger and Inflation. |
Nigerians should make sure they do not leave the street when they start the protest. If it’s going to take one year, let it take one year. Do not stand down. Do not be deterred. |
SensualMan:You are not done teaching Peter Obi a lesson, it’s Dangote. Both are billionaires and won’t suffer anymore |
GboyegaD:Absolutely. Not like it would get better. |
Greatkenny2:NO |
GboyegaD:Like, the ROI doesn’t make sense at all. |
They are really plotting Dangote’s downfall. |
This is the absolute reason that the protest need to go on. Nigerians should not cower. Our leaders are corrupt and we need to send them a strong message |
