SinachiP: Thank you.
Just some clarifications, I reside in UK. I got admission and I have dependents ( husband and 3 y.o son). I started my F1 visa Application already and have gotten to the payment section. I didn’t apply as a group though I am planning to travel with my 3 year old and my husband wants to join later on. Should I go ahead and continue with mine singly and get an appointment or we need to go to my own appointment together.
Or am I supposed to do the application as a group?
Please someone should help me with answers 🙏🏼 However you decide to do it is absolutely fine. You can either apply alone, with your child, or with the whole family. For you to be able to do that, you’ll need to request for F-2 I-20 for your son and husband. What’s your situation? Anything stopping you from applying with your family? Are you able to obtain I-20s for them? |

Proteanmind: Greetings to you all. Enjoy your blissful day. Please I would like to know more about incorporating a non profit organization in US and the chances it will offer me to get Visa. I have researched on this but still open to hear peoples’ thoughts on this.
Thanks Why do you want to incorporate a nonprofit for the sole aim of obtaining a visa? What happened to opening one in Nigeria? |

SinachiP: Thank you sir @oyoTunjiUSA. I have found where to access it as I am currently in UK with my family not Nigeria. Please I want to also know if I should go ahead with scheduling my own appointment or I need to do it together with my family/dependents ( they're yet to complete the ds 160 form) Would they need an interview as well or just me. I appreciate your help on this platform 🙏🏼 Do not email anyone outside of Nairaland. Be free to use pseudo names or information that protects your PII You can schedule your interview as individual or as a group (family). If you all are going to the US together, better to apply together. |

I don’t know why a supposed graduate can’t answer a simple question.
Who is your sponsor? It means who is sponsoring your studies (the person footing the bills).
If you have a GTA/ RA, a simple response like, I have a GA that covers 90% of my tuition with a stipend of x amount of dollars and my uncle/aunty/ mum/ dad/ husband will be covering the deficit. |

Adeore15: Here is my situation, my passport will expire January 2025 and my visa interview is this month (5 months), I already applied for a new passport which obviously will not be out before my interview. What should I do? Will my visa be approved? You need the new passport. Go and expedite your passport application. You need atleast 6 months validity on your passport at the time of your visa interview. The rules might have changed but this has always been most embassy’s general rule |

cybergeek: Hello everyone! I appreciate all the help and insight we get from here, God bless you all big.
I posted recently about my inability to secure a GA position and I was advised to defer my admission if I'm unable to get a sponsor.
I recently was able to secure a GA position that waives my tuition and they should send me an offer letter hopefully by Monday. Here's my question, my i20 request forms expires on Monday and I have not filled it yet as the GA position is one the major sources I'm depending on for my graduate school funding. What's the possibility of still meeting up most especially as regards securing an interview date? Georgia Tech resumes by August. Would you still advise I go on and try my luck? I would advice you to request for an I-20 with the proof of funds you have (not the GA since you are yet to get an official letter that details what is covered). The reason, I mentioned this is because what you would be needing is an update of your I-20 and not a new I-20. They might honor an update. Also, it is good that you emailed them for an extension of submission. But I will go ahead and request for one now. |

Slimszy: Thank you for your thoughts. Here is my transcript below.
Abuja May 2024 Full Funding VO: Window 10 (A pointed nose white lady) Denied
VO: What school are you going to? I didn't hear her the first two times, and I mentioned she should please repeat herself.
F1: I am going to university of maryland, college park to pursue a Masters in Fine Art, I will be majoring in Painting. - Immediate I mentioned Master in Fine Art, she replied Okay, before I was able to stretch it to my major - Painting. *I realised she wants direct answers*
VO: Who is covering your deficit? checking through her system.
F1: I don't have a deficit as I have been awarded a full funding - Graduate Assistantship which covers my living expenses and health insurance. *immediately she responded Okay* and checks my I-20.
VO: Have you traveled out of the country before.
F1: Yes, I have. I have been to Bleep for my work program, I have also been to Bleep for work program as well, then she cuts me by her OKAY.
VO: What is your post study plan
F1: Upon the completion of my program to I will be returning to my country to transit into the academia while I take the role of a lecturer in the department of fine Art at Bleep University, where I will be teaching university students art and its contemporary practices. I will also be coming back to expand my studio practice back home (before I could proceed, she said OKAY)
VO: Tell me about your academic background
F1: I have a Bachelor's Degree of Arts in History, and after my graduation I enrolled for an internship under Bleep art studio where I learnt how to paint and draw because of my passion for Art. (she cuts me Okay). Then you are not qualified for this student visa at this moment.
Notes: She asked a question after the first one which I cannot remember. But I stuttered at first, before gaining my balance. My response was tying what the degree will do for me back home. I remember I talked about taking a lecturing position.
Maybe I was anxious at first, I don't know. But I understand I answered every question. Reapply if you can. I always advise everyone to keep it simple and short. Answer the questions you’re asked and stopped explaining or answering what you’re not asked. You blew your chances by talking too much. They have little to no time for stories. I would advice you to reapply because you have a great chance of getting approved |

haywhizzz: Good day guys I need advise about my situation, I’m currently 27 years and I finished with a 3rd class in a degree I’m not interested in anymore, so I recently gained admission to study Bachelors Comp science in a university in the USA, is it advisable for me to proceed with it and try my luck, I just wanna ask about my chances of getting my US visa. I’ve been working in the IT field for about 3 years after I finished my first BSC. You’re more likely to be denied. I understand it would be hard to get into a masters program with a 3rd class degree. Going for another bachelors degree in same course would not sell to the Visa Officer |

I think it is somewhat delusional for a Muslim bride to find an issue with his husband wanting to pick another wife.
This is enshrined in your belief system, so why do you want to cherry pick?
I hate the idea of polygamy as it makes no sense to me. But it baffles me when Muslim bride cry about their husband wanting to marry a second wife. |

cuteboy2: The skills you listed are essentially Data Analyst / Data Scientist skills.
Indeed I'm beginning to pivot towards these. But it takes time to study and do the certifications and build a portfolio of projects to make impression with Hiring Managers.
What certifications would you recommend for Data? From reviews on YouTube, it seems Google Data Analyst Certification is a non-starter.
Just thought I can leverage my current skills in oil & gas and project management. Data Engineer and Business Analyst are a good filed you might be at a better chance of landing a role. There are several cyber security training and certification you can take. CompTia Sec, Network, CISA |

TWoods: You're all over the map. It's not looking to argue, it's pointing out a clear misrepresentation - this is not a debate on what proportion of hospitals in the US are for-profit or non-profit. The OP is talking about HCA Houston, which is where i live and i am quite familiar with. You implied it was non-profit. It isn't. Simple. Take some Valium. |
Travel › Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by chidiakwari: 10:51am On Jun 28, 2024 |
TWoods: This was your quote...
Hospitals are non-profits, so there are forms/ applications that low income earners can fill to have their medical bills reduced or waived.
Do not use medicaid.
What part of that suggests you are referring to Nigerian hospitals? It's ok to say you don't know how things work here. Relax, no one is arguing with you. Take some deep breath. I clearly mentioned, “what I meant was most hospitals” but left out “most”. Yes, infact all hospitals in the U.S. have that financial waiver form to have medical bills waived or discounted if you qualify. That was obviously a mistake. I meant most hospitals in the U.S. You should understand it was an error. You really love to argue unnecessarily. Take some Valium. Just by reading my response you, most would understand what I was referring to was US. |

TWoods: Not true. Most large US hospitals are for-profit. The OP's hospital, HCA, is owned by HCA Healthcare Inc. and is quoted on the US stock exchange - the stock price is $343.29.
People like OP who obtain "discount" services are why the rest of us must pay outrageous medical costs every year to cover the losses. The right word there was most US hospitals. 57% of hospitals in US are non-profit while 19% are controlled by states, county, or city. |
