You can use both of them, but sometimes, sponsorships by in-laws are vetted more and a bit suspicious because they are not the closest relatives to one.

If both of them are indeed willing to sponsor you, you may have to go the extra mile in legally binding this agreement, by notarizing, etc.

I plan to do the notarise affidavit of sponsorship

As long as your brother's account is funded normally, you can present his personal account.

But you must also present his business establishment documents, such as CAC document, and other associated ones.

Whatever you think may raise suspicion, explain very well in your SOP.

However, your brother's personal account is fine.

However his wife has paid employment and is willing to stand as my guarantor. Which of them do you advise that I use or can I present both of them as my co-sponsors

I would have used my dad, but his balance both personal and business is not too solid, some projects that took up most of his funds and having my brother transfer the sum to his account might raise flags and all that. So in essence, I want to know if I can use my sister in law as my sponsor?

Did I not make the payment as promised? So you won't feel I wasn't coming because of money issues.

So why then threaten me with demurrage, or did you not make that threat over the phone on Friday afternoon at about 4pm, what office closes by that time. After I had even sent the money across.

Where did I ever promise that I'd come by 12noon Friday?

This item is occupying about 72lbs by dimension though with low weight, this item was estimated 10lbs in her quotation we gave her. Airline is requesting about $300 ship this and she was told.

Picture 3 and 4. She agreed we shipped it by sea, but she's still saying we told her to pay $260 extra.

also advised her personal that it's too much to ship such item by air, that she should ship sea. The item is 48pieces acoustic foam, just like mattres, having little weight but occupying high space by dimension

If you read my posts correctly, you will see where I stated that I didn't even hassle much on the extra weight issue.

I also stated that you had offered cheaper shipping via sea, but I was still considering the air option, because of the shipping duration.

And truth is that is actually about 260usd extra than initially billed. Or is it not?

And as I had earlier stated, I put it out there to set the background so that people can see why I am pissed about the fx rate issue.

All allegations, all what she's asking has been answered, she knows every answer to every questions, so her motive is all I don't know , reason i couldnt give reply to what I don't know or what she knows earlier.


Allegation 1: she said she didn't know why she was charged #405/$.

We buy US dollar from black market, we subsidize Amazon rate on our side to make price easy for our customers, we also buy USD, hence cheap Amazon rate. But to pay airline, we have to pay with physical dollar, emirate, Ethiopian airline will not collect e-currency or Amazon dollar from us.

Even custom don't use official rate for custom clearing fee. You can search that on Google, there is a thread on that here.

With respect to this, was it not on Thursday you told me this price, was it ever mentioned when I asked for quotes that rate for shipping will be calculated differently?

But all this someone feeling extorted from shipping fee would have been put to bed if continually update us with the current exchange rate like i suggested in 1 of my post here!. We know naira fluctuation is not his fault neither ours but it becomes a problem when you've estimated only for your goods to come at higher fee. I would suggest he includes it to his thread(not like any other cargo company does it, but it can be a boost for transparency) to keep clients abreast with what is left to balance.... Have had a fair share of some things mentioned here but Mayorall is okay compare to some out there, sometimes you just need to be patient to understand.

Or even put a caveat that shipping will be settled with prevalent "Airport rate" at least with that notice one is prepared for the outcome.

It's not a matter of pity or whatever, it's actually better for his business, if the charges are different it should be clearly stated.

So that nobody feels he is being cheated and all.

I even checked some earlier transactions on this thread, it was a uniform rate that was charged the client, anyways all I'm asking is that he lays it out here in the open, if that is what his practice it, it should be stated here, so that intended clients are made aware from the onset

Although, I haven't used his service I want to make some things clear as per my extra experience in importation. There is what is called dim weight and actual weight. And shippers always choose the highest to charge when shipping. Compare the length of an umbrella and its weight.
The shipping charges also depends on the prevailing airport rate. Please bear with him.

As for ignoring clients complain, too bad. A good business man should know how to use a negative feedback for his advantage. My one kobo.

I honestly didn't hassle him on the weight difference, still trying to decide if to go by sea as he suggested, but it will take forever, or pay up the extra, or forego the item all together, as item costs just $33.

But when I had in mind that shipping will be same charge and I come to the title of the thread and what is quoted is about the same charge, theb I start feeling cheated.

His attitude on phone is something else, the way he was screaming that he had told me to come pick up by 12 noon, giving me less than 24hrs notice. Even after I paid the shipping(as per my calculation), dude still threatened me with demurrage, which I found quite laughable.

No customer regard, yes you're doing a good job keeping to time and all, but mayorall you leave a lot to be desired.

In order to fast track getting funds to settle the balance, I had requested that he provided pictures as soon as the items got to his base in the U.S, I kept asking but it never came.

I still rallied and made sure I had his balance ready and paid up just to calm nerves down while I planned to come the next day to pick being Saturday, as I even felt the reason he was hell bent on Friday was so he could recover his funds ASAP, and I paid up, minus the disputed figure which I need led proper clarifications on.

You can't treat people with disdain and expect only positive testimony here.

In all I have tried to present the event as fair as I can.

For the shipping fee, he bills us based on the "PREVAILING AIRPORT RATE" which is also the black market rate.... Hence, it can never be the same as the 363/$ you claimed....

Then he should state it here, so I don't feel cheated..

If others are corroborating this, then fine and good I'd pay up the difference.

But it should be clearly stated.

This is someone that claimed the shipping weight had been exactly calculated, even when I did the same calculation using Amazon shipping weight and his estimation was in excess of about 50lbs, and then I told him I was only going ahead because I found his rate affordable.

He can come and debunk or further clarify all the things I have said if any of it is untrue, or is anyone stopping him from responding?

I've decided to bring this out here so others can deal with caution regardless of how this transaction ends fx

1. You charged $690 for delivery at what exchange rate are you converting this and why does it contrast with the advertised rate on your thread title?

2. Why would you also threaten me with demurrage, even after I had made payments at about 3 pm Friday, having informed you that I'd be making payment before the end of the day and keeping to my words. Bearing in mind that you had only given information of the arrival the previous afternoon? And we didn't even have an prior agreement with regards date of collection. Why ever will you threaten me by saying you will count demurrage.




This is my present issue, the rest stated was to set the background having said that you trying to negate our agreement on more than one front.

According to your title the exchange rate you are quoting is 363 and there is no differentiation between shipping exchange rate and purchase exchange rate based on this.

Let us openly discuss this, I have paid even over paid for the shipping charged me.

You first gave me a an estimated weight of 170lbs charged at $4.4 with a $50 discount, making shipping $690. As can be verified on this thread.

Based on my calculation, using the shipping weight provided by the vendors I realized that it was about 50lbs less than what you estimated, I tried to raise this issue and you claimed your estimation was done by your shippers and it was exact.

I remember telling you that the only reason I was going ahead is because of the exchange rate you gave me then $361 and you responded in thanks, and at this point I sent the money for the purchase of the goods.

Only for you to tell me that one of the items will need about $300 extra to ship(like seriously!)

Fine and good I say let's leave that pending first. Only for me to send you my shipping fee based on the initially agreed rate, which is even about that same rate you are advertising on your title. And you are telling me all sorts
